Ada M. Genito, age 98, formerly of Duquesne, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.  Born in Duquesne on December 23, 1923, she was the daughter of the late James and Esther (Feretti) Ardiana. Ada was retired from A&P as a cashier, was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish-Holy Name Church and the GFWC Women’s Club of Duquesne, volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the Duquesne-West Mifflin Boys and Girls Club, and worked at Homestead Works of U.S. Steel during World War II. She is the mother of Joseph (fiancé Dixie A. Cianciotti) Genito of Jeannette; grandmother of Kristen (John) Walker and Shelley (Mark) Eberle; great grandmother of Ethan and Dylan Eberle; and sister of the late Beatrice Bedont. There will be no visitation. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Name Church, Duquesne, on Monday, May 9, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Tony Gargotta, officiating. Prior to being a homemaker, she was an executive secretary at the University of Pittsburgh, a cashier at Shop ’n Save, Duquesne, a lunch lady for the West Mifflin School District and worked in the “latch key” program for the West Mifflin School District. Carol was the beloved wife of 54 years to the late Robert P. Snyder, who passed away on March 24, 2022; mother of Robert Snyder of West Mifflin and Marcie L. (Thomas M.) She was a former member of the former St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, in Duquesne, and is a member of St. Elias Byzantine Catholic Church. Rose enjoyed cards, bingo, liked to cook, especially spaghetti, and spending time with her grandchildren. She is the wife of the late Richard A. Donald A. “Bix” Bixler, age 66, of West Mifflin, passed away on Holy Thursday, April 14, 2022. Son of Elaine J. Bixler, of West Mifflin and the late Donald J. Bixler, he was born in McKeesport, on March 31, 1956. He worked at U.S. Steel-Duquesne Works for 5 years before becoming disabled. He was disabled at the age of 23 as a result of a motorcycle accident and his mother became his primary caregiver for 32 years. He liked karate, spending many summers at Linesville and had a great sense of humor. Besides his mother, he is survived by many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was retired from PNC Bank-Duquesne as an Assistant Manager and then as Manager from the Century Square Office. She was Catholic by faith, and she also was the fish breader, poker machine player, beer drinker, cigarette smoker, bookkeeper and cook at the Duquesne Croatian Club. She is the mother of Dean (Virginia) Beal of West Mifflin and Heather Ordos; has six grandchildren including Ashley Beal and Alaina Beal; and is the former wife of George “Bob” Beal. Victor Thomas (Tom) Vash, age 91, of Pittsburgh, formerly of West Mifflin, passed away on March 29, 2022 at home. Tom was born on December 16, 1930, to the late Evelyn (Synder) and Victor Vash. Tom leaves behind his best friend and loving wife of over 43 years, Joanne (Musulin) Vash, son, Thomas (Amber) Vash of Glassport, daughters, Jennifer (Mike) Olson of West Mifflin, and Guanna Vash of Lionsville, grandsons, David (Sarah) Obradovich, Jaxon and Jordan Olson, and, granddaughter, Ashely (James) Walker. Tom was proceeded in death by his first wife Lorraine “Bonnie” (Ambrose) Vash, sons, Gary Vash, Mark Vash, and daughter in law, Helen Vash.

Tom was a 3-year Navy Korean War Veteran having served on the ships Soley, Doner and Monrovia, which his unit helped to recommission.  During his time in the Navy, Tom reached the Arctic Circle and Thule Bay, Greenland.  Tom loved to fish, hunt and do gardening and would share the fruits of his labor with neighbors, family and friends. He was a proud member and founder of his camp in Punxsutawney called “Timber Tramps.”  Tom spent some of his cold Pittsburgh winters in Florida as a snowbird and while there was a member of the Floral Lakes bowling and shuffleboard teams.  Some other of his favorite past times include trips to the local casinos and playing cards with special friends and family.  In 1985, Tom retired from West Mifflin School District as a Carpenter. After retirement, Tom spent the next 15 years as a stay-at-home father for his children, Thomas and Jennifer. Tom had a great smile and could always make people laugh with just a few simple words. Tom will be missed by all who knew him, and he will remain in our hearts forever.

In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, Tom leaves behind his brother, Daniel Vash, sister, Janice Mamas-Dobrowolski, sisters-in-law, Donna (Jim) Fester, Cecelia (Randall) Lucas, brother-in law, John (Sally) Musulin as well as many Kumovi, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family.

Frederick E. “Fred” Crisp Sr., age 83, of West Mifflin, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022. Born in Kentucky, on August 1, 1938, he was the son of the late Mitt and Gladys Crisp. He was retired from Iron Works Local #3-Pittsburgh, was a member of the AF&AM, Joppa Lodge and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was the husband of the late Beverly (Leibold) Crisp; stepfather of Karen List of West Mifflin; father of Rebecca “Becky”, James “Jimbo” Crisp, Frederick “Fred” Crisp Jr., Paul David Crisp and late Michelle Crisp; several grandchildren; brother of John “Whitt” (Sharon) Crisp, Danny Crisp, late Delores “Dee”, late Pamela (husband, Bob, survives) Kozar. Mary P. Regina, in her 100th year, and, as life begins at conception, more than 100 years life on earth, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, in Albert Einstein Medical Center in Onley Park, Philadelphia. She was a 10 years massive stroke survivor, 9 years double breast cancer survivor, 2 years cardiac arrest survivor and multiple blood clots survivor. Mary was the recipient of many miracles during her health struggles but two stand out. Despite being wheelchair bound, from the Fall of 2015 to April of 2019, Mary was able to attend Holy Mass for 176 consecutive Sundays and, following hospitalization from a blood clot in 2015, in spite of her many health issues, she was able to avoid being hospitalized or needing a nursing home for 49 consecutive months, from March of 2015 to April of 2019. Both of these miracles were achieved by Mommy and Tommy, trusting in the Lord together. Born in Duquesne on March 8, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Agnes (Voyak) Mracin. She was a member of Mary Mother of God Parish, St. Angela Merici Church and St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Holy Name Church where she was formerly a member of the choir and the bereavement group. She was the wife of late Stephen J. Regina Jr.; mother of late Stephen A. Regina, late Kenneth S. Regina, David T. Regina of West Mifflin, and Thomas (Tommy aka “EP”) Regina of Duquesne, beloved son and 10 years faithful sole caregiver, affectionately known as “Mommy and Tommy”-soulmates; sister of Katherine Schmidt of California, late Frank Mracin and late Carol Sabovik. Born in Tyrone, PA on September 16, 1951, she was the daughter of the late James Carlton and Mary Agnes (Grieble) Gillam. Sue was a retired nurse, having worked at Jefferson, Forbes and Mercy Hospitals and most recently as a home health care nurse. She was an excellent Slovak baker, especially her Russian torte and nut roll. She enjoyed pinochle, getting together with her Duquesne University friends and taking care of her St. Bernard, “Harry.” She is the mother of Jenna (Shawn) Magee of Mercer, PA, Gregory (Sarah) Evans of Murrysville, and Nick Evans of North Versailles; grandmother of Emma-Kate and Anna Magee and Teddy Evans; sister of Patrice (Mike) DelBaggio of Tyrone, Roberta (Dale) Woomer of Bald Eagle, PA, late Mary Beth (surviving spouse, Howard) Banks of Altoona, PA, late James (wife Lisa survives) Gillam of Tyrone and late Kathleen Gillam; Nieces and Nephews.
