Charles Thomas “Charlie” Bootman, 86, of Cherry Tree, died Friday, February 24, 2023, at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. Born, February 18, 1937, in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Charles K. Bootman and Margaret Hattie (James) Bootman. He married Ann (DiMeo) Bootman December 31, 1960. They recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
Charlie was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1954 through most of 1957. In 1970 he started working for the Boilermakers Union, Local 154 of Pittsburgh. There he welded for 27 years until his retirement in 1997.
Those who knew him best, remember Charlie as having a rough and tough exterior, while having a caring and loving heart of gold on the inside. Ann called him, “a bear with a soft heart”. He was a fierce protector of Ann and the people he loved, standing by them through good times and bad, and always supporting them and helping them in any way he could. He was larger than life and filled up every room he entered.
During his life, Charlie always stood for what he believed in and for the things he felt were right. Because of that, he was well respected by his fellow workers in the Boilermakers union and by his friends and neighbors who appreciated his views and comments at many Montgomery Township meetings.
Charlie loved living in his country log home, where most mornings he built a fire in his fireplace while looking over his pond and appreciating the beauty of nature and God’s good earth.
In addition to his wife, Ann, he is remembered by his “adopted daughter”, Brenda Amico and her husband, Mike from Morgantown, WV.

His passing marks the end of a family of first generation immigrants who made our country better for their coming here. He was one of many excellent Americans whose spirit and labor made this country thrive. He enjoyed wonderful times with his family and left us with many happy memories of his smile, his laughter, his teaching and his wisdom. As long as life and memory last we will remember him. We are especially grateful to Doctors Jalil, Fazal, and Bramowitz and to PA Amber Bussard for their patient attention to his health and welfare. We will be forever grateful for giving us as much time as possible with Fiore. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Saints Joachim and Anne, Queen of the Rosary church by his son, Rev. Anthony DiMarco, with burial to follow at New St. Joseph’s Cemetery, North Versailles. When the nights are cold and the stars are few, we’ll close our eyes and think of you. We’ll shed a silent tear and a silent wish that you were here. Good Night Sweet Prince – may flights of angels lead you into God’s Heavenly Kingdom.

Donna Vivian (Sloan) McHolme, 91, of McKeesport, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2023 in Grand Rapids, MI with her children by her side. Originally from Coal Center, Donna's family and faith were very important to her. She was a well-loved and devoted member of Bethesda United Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth. Most of all, she loved her family, and they loved her. She will forever be our "Gram". Donna was an avid golfer with her signature loopy backswing. She was a longtime member of the Women's Golf Association of Western Pennsylvania. Golfers at Youghiogheny Country Club would intentionally hit their balls into Donna's backyard so that they could stop by and see what she was baking....and hopefully get a taste. An amazing self-taught cook and baker, her hands were rarely still. Elegant and manicured, they were either rolling pie dough, playing a hand of bridge, turning the pages of a novel, planting and nurturing her flowers, or gripping a golf club. She shared her love of the kitchen with the next generation, and nothing made her happier than baking a special request for her grandchildren. She will long be remembered for her chicken pot pies, coconut macaroon cake, cherry pies, Santa cookies and countless other creations. Donna loved to host family dinners, holiday celebrations, and to entertain her friends. All who knew her will remember her grace, wit, kind and caring personality and her signature red lipstick. Donna is survived by two children and their spouses, Norman and Lucinda McHolme and Patricia and Ken Hawthorne; her eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister Edwinna Jones. In addition to her parents, Edward and Isabelle (Gray) Sloan, she was preceded in death by her former husband, James N. McHolme and her son, Dean K. McHolme. A celebration of life service to honor Donna will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Donna McHolme Bright Beginnings Pre-school Scholarship fund at Bethesda United Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth. The family wishes to thank the many kind and considerate caregivers at Heather Hills Assisted Living who provided wonderful comfort and care to Donna.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Bethesda United Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth. Private burial will take place at a later date. Local arrangements by the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth. Offer condolences at

Taron R. McBride, 49, of McKeesport, was born March 17, 1973, in McKeesport, PA. He was the beloved son to Terrence McBride and Dr. Deborah Cox. He is the oldest of two siblings from the marriage. Taron had a remarkable knack for writing poetry, he loved God, and gospel music.
Taron was perceived as one who danced to the beat of his own drum; the truth of the matter, he suffered from common mental conditions called obsessive impulsive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder and hyperactivity all controlled by an imbalance of hormones. Following his traumatic brain injury, he spent 24 years living a healthy life at ReMed in Greensburg, PA where he received adequate treatment that changed his life. Despite his disability, he was one who loved God, his family and longed to be accepted and loved as a person not judged because of his disability. While living at ReMed, he attended church regularly in Greensburg and when his mother was in town, he would attend church with her where he gave his life to Christ. Taron was often the staff’s entertainment and enjoyed making people laugh; he had a hearty laugh and he loved to sing. He had a heart of love and more than anything he wanted his family to embrace each other irrespective of differences.
Taron departed this life on February 2, 2023 in Pittsburgh, PA. Taron is survived by his parents: father, Terrence R. McBride, stepmother, Ruby McBride, mother, Dr. Deborah A. Cox, mother/grandmother, Patricia Cox, two brothers from the marriage: Terrence J. McBride, Jason R. McBride. He leaves five siblings: four sisters: LaShawn McBride, Shanae McBride, Terris Ross, Tieria Ross, and one brother: Sheldon McBride, a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.

Charlotte Bednarovsky, 87, of Silver Spring, Maryland, died on Saturday January 28, 2023. Formerly of White Oak, PA and Riverview, FL she was born on November 8, 1935 and raised in Duquesne, PA. She is the beloved wife of the late Edward Bednarovsky and sister of the late Francis Albert Norkus. She is the daughter of the late Esther (Nagy) Norkus, and father Frank Norkus. She is survived by her son Craig, daughter-in-law Mónica, and grandchildren Mia and Liam Bednarovsky of Washington, DC. Even though Charlotte lost her mother at an early age, she fondly remembered growing up in a small row house on 3rd Street in Duquesne where she was raised by her grandparents Julia and Károly (Charles) Nagy who had immigrated from Hungary. She shared that house with her five loving uncles and an aunt who were like brothers and a sister to her. After graduating from Duquesne High School, she went to work at the GC Murphy home office in McKeesport, PA. Soon thereafter Charlotte took a secretarial job at the Bettis Atomic Laboratory in West Mifflin. Her fondest memory from Bettis was attending and participating in the 1958 Newport News, VA christening of USS Enterprise (CVN-65), the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. Several years after automobile accident related death of her first husband, Wesley Probst, she married Edward Bednarovsky of McKeesport and moved Dearborn Drive in White Oak where she enjoyed years of good times with wonderful neighbors. Charlotte was a long-time member of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Duquesne. She took great joy in baking traditional Hungarian pastries, and cooking traditional Hungarian dishes. During her years in Silver Spring, MD Charlotte enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, attending their sporting events, and treating them to early morning popsicles while letting them do her hair – as a grandmother does. Charlotte was ravaged by rheumatoid arthritis which limited her physical activity and quality of life for the past 20+ years. If you are so moved, and in lieu of flowers, you may make a charitable donation to the Arthritis Foundation (www.arthritisfoundation.org/donate). Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, February 11 at TEICHART-GRACAN FUNERAL HOME, Duquesne. A brief prayer service will be held at noon, followed by a wake luncheon at Luciano’s Italian Restaurant in White Oak from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

John Trovato, 64, of North Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2022, with his wife of 35 years, Pat, by his side. He was born August 30, 1958, in Wilkinsburg to the late Salvatore Daniel Trovato, Sr., and the late Leona Catherine (Kropczynski) Trovato. "Handyman John", as he was known to many, was there to help whenever a friend or family member called. On the weekends you could find him fishing, putzing around the house, or wearing his favorite Crimson Tide Red or Steelers Black and Gold. His jokes were legendary, and often inappropriate, but he didn't care as long as you were laughing. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. John served in the US Army and spent his career in the auto industry as a mechanic and claims administrator; making friends while living in Baltimore, Atlanta, and (his favorite) Helena, Alabama where he loved the heat and race day at Talladega. John was a 1976 graduate of Norwin High School and was also a graduate of the Westmoreland County Technical School.
