Eugene D. Sherpata, 82, of Clairton, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at his daughter’s home in Belle Vernon. Born June 19, 1940, he was the son of the late John and Sophie (Wozniak) Sharpeta. After graduating from Clairton High School in 1957, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Upon completion of his service, he became an employee of the U.S. Postal Service for the next 50 years. He loved western and war movies but most of all couldn’t wait to watch the Steelers play. He spent countless hours building computers or playing video games. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his family, whether it was a home project, cutting the grass, or just sitting outside talking and enjoying the weather.

He was born August 3, 1957 in McKeesport and was the son of the late John Charles MacPherson Jr. and the late Sue Anne (Parkins)MacPherson Spahr. He was a member of the Mount Vernon Community Presbyterian Church, where he was an Elder and sang in the church choir. He was also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the former Boston Fire Company. He was President of "Friends of Mount Vernon Cemetery". Paul was a Computer Systems Engineer for Dell Inc.

Catherine “Chip” Goykovich, of North Versailles, passed on January 20, 2023, at the age of 85. Chip is survived by her siblings, Joann Kause, Eugene Goykovich and Steve Goykovich, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends. She was preceded in passing by her parents, Steve and Sue (Filosemi) Goykovich, and brother, Arthur “Babe” Goykovich.
Family was most important to Chip. She loved her nieces and nephews. She was a second mom to her nephew Ricci, and helped raise him.

Michael E. Long of Port Vue died Jan. 5, 2023. Beloved husband of Candy (Stinebaugh) Long. Loving father of Alisha Long, Ken Long, and the late Ronald G. Long and the late Michael C. Long. Mike was a DJ for 40 years. Along with his wife Candy they were on several radio stations presenting the Magic Music show. They spent the last 11 years at 810 WEDO. Mike was in the Army, he was very proud to be a part of the military. He enjoyed fishing at any chance he got. Mike was die-hard Pirate fan. He also enjoyed the Steelers and was a lifelong member of the White Oak American Legion.

Thomas Carl Wilson Sr. of Smithdale, Pennsylvania died peacefully at home on January 18, 2023. He was born in Fitz Henry, Pennsylvania on March 2, 1933.
He was the son of William Lloyd Wilson Sr and Florence Lydia Miller Wilson, the grandson of LaRoyal Wilson Sr/ Marcella Boone and David Miller/Parthenia Reeves, David Miller was born a slave in Virginia. He is survived by his wife Gloria Dixon Wilson of Smithdale, daughters, Yvonne Carol Riley of Pittsburgh, Prudence Diane Norman of Pittsburgh, Nicola Jean Houston of Smithdale; sons Rev. Thomas Carl Wilson Jr (Jeanette) of Macon, Georgia, Kenneth Edward Wilson of Smithdale, Joseph Daryl Wilson (Theresa) of Indianapolis, and Dwayne Earl Wilson of Pittsburgh; sister Gladys Maria Isbell of Silver Springs, Maryland, and brothers David LaRoyal Wilson of McKeesport and John Albert Wilson of Greensburg; 12 grandchildren (Shannon, Christopher, Lauren, Chantel, Jasmine, Molly, AJ, Alysha, Joey, Morgan, Caitlyn, and Timothy) and 8 great-grandchildren (Carson, Lyric, Tori, CeeJay, Roman, Karter, Gabby, and Leighton). William H. Schlander, 82, of Belle Vernon, formerly of Port Vue, died Saturday, January 28, 2023. He was born September 2, 1940, a son of the late Harvey V. Schlander and Bessie (Hamilton) Schlander, and his step-father, Harry Schlander. William served in the U.S. Navy on the USS DesMoines. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, First Sterling, and Reliant Steel, and retired after 30 years with Safety Kleen Corporation. A former member of the Port Vue Athletic Association, he coached girls’ softball.
He was a member of the US Cruisers Club, VFW Post 698 of North Belle Vernon, and was an active member of the Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church, Elizabeth. William was the husband of 62 years, to Arlene (Faust) Schlander, whom he married on October 15, 1960. They raised two daughters, Vicki (David) Anderson of West Newton and Denise (James) Kish of Wheeling, West Virginia; four grandchildren, Sarah (Paul) Cunningham of Oakura, New Zealand, Caitlyn (Michael Mistick of Chantilly, Virginia, Jillian (Carl) Peitz of Marriottsville, Maryland, and Jaime (Kelsey) Kish of Alexandria, Virginia; eight great grandchildren, Paul, Emma, Louie, Cameron, Theo, Sadie, Molly, and Sylvie.

Karen Jean Penn, age 63, of White Oak, died on January 26, 2023. Born September 21, 1959, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Larry and Irene (Fleming) Reitz.
Karen was a member of the Glassport Assembly of God. She liked cooking her famous pot pies and baking. Karen enjoyed watching any sport especially cheering on the Pittsburgh teams. She was an animal lover and had a dog, Casper, a cat, Missy, and a rabbit.
Karen is survived by her children, Mandy (Matthew) Wagner and Martin Penn III; grandchildren, Jordan and Alexander Wagner; siblings, Irene (Daniel) Brieck, Cindy Palmer, and Raymond Reitz; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Annetta P. “Tetta” (Lynch) Stracelsky Hall, arrived on a snowy January 14th in 1927, and departed this earth on Saturday, January 28, 2023. She was 96 years old. Her last residence was at Redstone Highlands Senior Community, North Huntingdon, where she was an original member and lived out her long-time passion of crocheting baby blankets and passing out peppermint patties. Originally from Walker Heights, Elizabeth, she was the daughter of the late James Daniel and Elizabeth M. (Goldstrohm) Lynch. After being widowed twice, Tetta lived her first married life with the late (Big) Paul A. Stracelsky in Forward Twp. for 43 years and had one daughter, Lisa (George) Bowers that gave her two grandchildren, Mark & Amy, that she loved and enjoyed watching grow. They all enjoyed many years of antique cars and travels with others from Mon Valley Region (AACA) and the Three-River's Region (Model A Restorer's Club). Also, a second marriage to the late Kirk E. Hall of Rostraver, Belle Vernon and Redstone Highlands, for 18 years. They enjoyed the outings they could go on to the Mountain Playhouse in Jennerstown and wherever the car took them next. While in Elizabeth High School, class of 1944, Tetta's first job was to learn to be a switchboard operator in Highland Park, Pittsburgh. Once graduated and working closer to home, she went on to be a switchboard operator at Ruben's Furniture in McKeesport, and then on to their accounts receivable department. After a brief time of also being a switchboard operator in Elizabeth, she then devoted 10 years in the office of Morrow's Jewelers, McKeesport, until 1959. Overlapping jobs and a new baby for 3 years, she was then founding, developing and office managing the family-run business of Paul Stracelsky Oil Products where she retired at the age of 75. She served and was a member of Round Hill Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth Twp.

Monique “Mo” Hill Marwani, age 48, of Hagerstown, MD, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 20, 2022. Born February 9, 1974, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of a devoted father, Russell Walton Hill of Hagerstown, MD, and a loving mother, Cathryn A. (Keith H.) Buchanan Stevenson of McKeesport.
Mo was a model, fashion designer, and bridal consultant, amongst many other things, throughout her remarkable life. She brought beauty and grace to this world and shared that with everyone she knew. Her career started as early as pre-school at Grady Day School of Squirrel Hill, where she was picked to do a commercial for PNC Bank at four years old. She then attended Mineda Elementary School for kindergarten through 6 grade. During that time, she participated in music, went to ballet and tap dance school, and was also a Brownie in Buena Vista, PA. She then moved on to Elizabeth Forward High School, where she participated in music, volleyball, and track and field.
During her Junior year, she was a candidate for Black Ms. Teenage Pageant and placed in the top 15. She was also active in the Ms. Uniontown Pageant and won 1st place for Ms. Sportswear and took the crown for Ms. Uniontown.
Mo then received a modeling contract with American Eagle Magazine. During the summer of her Junior year, she was invited to the Welcome Home parade for the famous Football Hall of Fame Joe Montana, the quarterback for the San Francisco 49 er's and Kansas City Chiefs. In her senior year, she was also a Black Ms. Teenage Pageant contestant and placed runner-up! She Graduated Class of 1992 from Elizabeth Forward High School.
After high school, she was called back to be a Preliminary-Judge for the Black Ms. Teenage Pageant. Mo then moved to Harrisburg and worked for the State Department, where she worked for PHEAA Education Assistance Agency. She also attended the Philadelphia College of Textile and Science for Fashion and Design, where she participated in cheerleading, soccer, and choir. Mo also modeled for Marriot Bridal shows and participated in Swimsuit Magazine. After designing school, she worked at Bettina's Clothing Shop in Bethesda, MD, for experience and became an entrepreneur in woman's fashion and opened her own shop, "Your Private Closet."

Gary Robert Andres, Sr., 72, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023. He was born July 1, 1950 in McKeesport and was the son to the late Andrew George and Lulu Mae (Terry) Andres. Gary worked for various HVAC Companies as a technician and installer, but also had his own business on the side as a Tractor Mechanic for many people around the area. He shared a hunting camp with his brothers and spent a lot of time hunting and fishing. He enjoyed taking rides on his motorcycles, and as he got older, he became a real good classic car enthusiast. Cruising around town or refurbishing old classics, he was always on the hunt for different makes & models to fix.

She was a retired salesclerk for Oneida in Grove City and a loving foster parent. She enjoyed traveling to Lancaster, doing puzzles, sewing, camping, and family history. She loved talking to people and made friends quickly. Born August 29, 1941, in Grove City, she was a daughter of the late William and Ruth (Gregg) Reynolds and wife of the late David Travis. Violet R. Ghrist, age 85, of Glassport, died on January 22, 2023, at Allegheny General Hospital. Born January 14, 1938, in Canonsburg, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Ida May (Holmes) Hyson and wife of the late William J. Ghrist.
Violet dedicated her life to taking care of her family and home. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, Pleasant Hills Ward. Violet enjoyed reading, cooking, and watching her shows on National Geographic Wild and movies about Emma and Joseph Smith, founders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved her family and dogs, Princess, Zella, Prince, and Ivory.

Giovanni "John" Mannarino, 73, of Boston, passed away Thursday, January 26. 2023 at home surrounded by his family. He was born August 17, 1949 in Crotone, Italy and was the son of the late Francesco and Elisabetta (Ierardi) Mannarino. John was a member of Saint Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, McKeesport. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan and had previously coached soccer at East Allegheny High School. John had worked numerous jobs throughout his life, including a concrete laborer and in stock at Giant Eagle in White Oak. He will be greatly missed.

Alan R. Ochap, age 72, of McKeesport, died on January 25, 2023, at home. Born January 18, 1951, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Albert and Grace (Prutz) Ochap and the husband of Carla Ochap.
Alan retired from Stringert Inc. as a union roofer. He was a member of the United Union of Roofers and Allied Workers Local #37. Alan was a hardworking man. Most of all, he enjoyed spoiling his grandkids.
In addition to his wife, Carla, he is survived by his children, Johanna (Dan ) Kessler, Wendy (Floyd) Gault, and Chris Ochap; grandchildren, Floyd (Taylor) Gault III and Emily Gault; great-granddaughter, Adelaide Gault; siblings, Joseph (Dorothy) Ochap, Debra Oakes and Eva (Bonnie) Ochap; and many nieces and nephews.
Alan was also preceded in death by his son, Mark Ochap.

He attended The Pitcairn Assembly of God and formerly attended the Pitcairn United Methodist Church. He was a Mason and a retired member of The Pitcairn Fire Department #1. He met his wife of 64 years in Dunmore, PA and went on to have 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren together. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and was an avid Pittsburgh Panthers and college football fan. He will be greatly missed.

Karlee Paige (Wilhelm) McDermitt, 26, of Bethel Park, formerly of Elizabeth Township, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 22, 1996 in Greensburg and grew up in Blythedale. She is survived by her husband, Arthur “Artie” McDermitt, of Bethel Park; parents, John and Kathy (Keddie)Wilhelm of Elizabeth Township; brother, John Wilhelm of Corpus Christi, TX., sisters, Katelyn (Jordan McKelvey) Wilhelm and Katrinia Wilhelm of Elizabeth Township and Kayla (Brendan) Batchelor of Chagrin Falls, OH. She was also aunt of Declan, Bri, John Jr., and Maddie; and great aunt to Finan. Karlee graduated from Elizabeth Forward High School before attending Slippery Rock University where she met the love of her life, Artie. While Artie served in the US Army, Karlee supported and awaited his safe return home. The two were married September 18, 2021 and celebrated alongside their family and friends. Karlee loved to travel, was generous with her time and a spirited woman. She loved animals, especially their dogs Tanner (who is waiting for her), Hank and Katie, both of whom were a great comfort to her in the last year. Her family and friends will love and remember her always.

Susan Lacey, 62, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023. She was born May 9, 1960 and is the daughter of the late Andrew and Emma (Banko) Paskan. She was raised in Sutersville and graduated from Sewickley High School, now known as the Yough School District. She was a dedicated wife to the late Gregory C. Lacey before his passing in 2017. Alison (Jill) Zora, 89, of McKeesport, formerly of Elizabeth Township, passed away at the Palms at O'Neil Personal Care Home on Wednesday, January 18th, 2023. Alison (Jill) was born in Bootle, England on November 23, 1933 and is the daughter to the late Donald and Lillian McKinlay. She met her husband, American g.i., William Zora while he was stationed at Buttonwood Air Force Base, and they got married in 1953 in England. After coming to the United States Alison (Jill) was a stay home housewife and mother. Alison (Jill) and William had 2 children, Eugene and Tammy. In the early 70' s she decided to join the workforce. She worked 3 Rivers Bank, Wayne Weil Carpeting, and Sears. After retiring from Sears, she started to travel on many adventures with her children. She then got an appetite for cruises; traveling to Alaska, Spain, France, Italy and most of the Mediterranean Islands. She had a very strong spirit, a mind of her own, and a great sense of adventure until recently when the illnesses took its toll. She loved her family, her grand-kitties, gambling, Reese's peanut butter cups, and Ben and Jerry's ice cream; Cherries Garcia flavor.

Betty Lois Heath, 94, of Greenock, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023 at home. She was born June 28, 1928 in Jacobs Creek and was the daughter of the late Edward and Kathleen (Lancaster) Malone. David M. Forrester, Jr., age 44 of Clairton, passed away at home Tuesday, January 17, 2023. Born July 5, 1978 in Pittsburgh, he was the beloved son of David M. Forrester Sr. who preceded him in death, and Beverly M. (Bahila) Hutchinson of Clairton. David affectionately known as Dave, attended Clairton High School. He was a member of the Teamsters Union # 1058 and drove for Steel City Trucking. Dave was an avid pool player and regularly attended pool leagues and tournament play. He enjoyed camping, travelling, and outdoor activities. Dave collected all things big and small and enjoyed having a good laugh. He was a self-taught mechanic known to be able to fix anything. He especially loved Fourth of July fireworks with his family. Elizabeth (Betty) Marie Andriko (née Evanish), 97, died January 17, 2023.
Born November 15, 1925 in Turtle Creek, PA to Nicholas and Catherine Evanish, Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis Andriko, Sr., whom she married in 1950, her parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
Betty was involved for many years with Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Christian Mothers, and frequently volunteered at St. Joseph Parish in Duquesne, PA. She made lifelong memories and friendships working in a pharmacy for 45 years, first at Ayres Pharmacy in McKeesport, then at Penn Taft Pharmacy in West Mifflin, finally retiring at age 87. She lived 70 years in her own home, spoiling her cat, spending time with neighbors, and completing hundreds of word puzzles. She remained active even after moving to New Kensington to live with her son.
Betty was outgoing, generous, caring, and funny. She is survived by her son Louis (Susan) Andriko, Jr.; grandchildren MaryElizabeth (John) Andriko-Moore, Kathryn (Joseph) Morosky, both of Pittsburgh, PA; and Michael (Jessi) Andriko, of Elkins, WV. She dearly loved her great-grandchildren, Sabine Andriko-Moore and Nikola Andriko, and was eagerly looking forward to meeting another great-grandson due in April.

Donna Lee Stetar, of Port Vue, peacefully passed on January 12, 2023, at the age of 86, with her loving children at her side. Donna was the devoted wife of the late Patrick Stetar Sr. Loving mother of Victoria (Eric) Stetar-Logan, Kimberly Ann (Robert) Stetar-Platz, Ricky Alan (Cheryl) Stetar; adoring grandmother of 8 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. Chad’Juan Maurice Neal Sr., of Duquesne, was born August 4, 1993, in Pittsburgh, PA. He was the beloved son to Jenica Randolph and the late Carloto Rarji Neal Sr.
Chad’Juan departed this life on January 8, 2023, at West VA Medical Center.
Chad graduated from East Allegheny High School where he played football and basketball. He furthered his education at All State School of Business for Welding. He also worked at Arch Masonry for brick laying. Chad’Juan attended church with his family at Trinity Church of God In Christ in McKeesport. He was in the youth choir and a junior usher.
Chad’Juan had a smile that would light up a room! He enjoyed listening to music and watching or attending sports events. Most importantly, Chad’Juan loved his children and his family. He will be truly missed.

Glenn Albert Peterson, 94, of McKeesport, passed away Monday, January 16, 2023 to be reunited with his late wife and daughter. He was born July 7, 1928 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Albert and Ethel May (Sykes) Peterson. Glenn was the husband of the late Loretta L. (Heath) Peterson who passed away in 1972. He was a US ARMY Veteran and served during the Korean War as a Corporal in Japan. Glenn was a hardworking individual, who worked for US Steel in McKeesport from 1947 until 1983, where he retired as a production supervisor. He went on to work part time after his retirement for AC Nielson for several years to keep himself busy. He also enjoyed playing golf, dancing and going on vacations. Glenn was known for his big heart, politeness, kindness, responsibility for his family, and integrity. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Marion (Batinich) Lokmer, age 94 of Chagrin Falls, OH, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2023 in UH Geauga Medical Center, Chardon, OH. Born in Clairton on November 25, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Mary (Nikolic) Batinich. Marion was a lifelong member of C.F.U. Lodge 248 in Clairton and was very proud of her Dalmatian heritage. As a daughter of an immigrant family, her work ethic and devotion to family were established at an early age. Proudly bearing her father’s name, she dedicated many years in helping to run their family business, Marion’s Tavern, in Jefferson Borough. Marion devoted her life to friends and family, especially her granchildren. Being with others, doing for others, and giving to others brought her much happiness. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. Marion will always be remembered for her strong belief in herself and her unwavering faith in God. May her amazing strength carry on and inspire others. Marion was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Canfield, Ohio, where she had formerly resided after moving from Jefferson Borough.

Grace Sparico Jordanhazy, 69, of Donora, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023, in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her loving family. Grace was born on June 19, 1953, in McKeesport, the loving daughter of the late Peter and Mildred (Kaler) Sparico.
Grace loved hummingbirds, whether it be watching them at the feeders and plants in her backyard, or collecting items that were decorated with them. She was an avid reader and enjoyed the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren whom she affectionately called her “baby dolls”.
Grace is survived by her beloved husband, P. Michael Jordanhazy; her son, Scott M. Jordanhazy; and her two daughters, Aimee M. Jordanhazy and Amanda M. Jordanhazy. Grace also leaves her grandchildren, Austin, Alex and Madison Barna; her sister and brothers; her Aunt, Pat Sparico; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

Sharon Lynn Jageman, 65, of Lincoln Borough, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023. She was born May 11, 1957 in Pittsburgh and was the daughter to the late Edward A. and Genevieve (Berger) Wozniak. Sharon graduated from Baldwin High School and took Accounting classes at CCAC. From 2004 - 2015, Sharon worked for the Elizabeth Forward School District as a Classroom Aide; then, in 2016 she was elected to be the Tax Collector for Lincoln Borough and South Allegheny School District; as well as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary in the Borough. She enjoyed cross-stitching, collecting angels, and traveling to go camping. Her favorite camping spot was at Raystown Lake, just a few hours from here. She was a huge family person and loved to host family game nights with food, drinks, games and memories to cherish forever.

Margie was employed as a Retail Customer Service Representative and a Teaching Assistant at McKeesport School District for those in need of a little more assistance with their reading skills. She was also a dedicated, full-time caregiver for her mother for several years. She was a member of St. Stephen's Roman Catholic, and after closing, Margie and her husband eventually moved to St. Pius & then to Corpus Christi, while it was formerly known as St. Mary's. Margaret "Margie" (Gasparovic) Snodgrass, age 80 of Pittsburgh and originally of McKeesport, passed away January 9, 2023 after a brief but courageous battle with an illness. She is the loving wife of 45 years of John; loving mother and proud mom of Dr. Steven (Kelly) of Greenville, SC and Christopher (Anna) of Swissvale; devoted grandmother of Simon; and beloved Aunt Margie to many special nieces and nephews. A graduate of McKeesport High School who also attended Carlow University, Margie worked for many years as a meticulously organized professional secretary, most notably for Westinghouse Electric Corp. during the 1970s. She alternated her career with time as a stay-at-home mom, frequent volunteer at Sacred Heart Elementary School, a eucharistic minister and active parishioner at Sacred Heart Church in Shadyside and later a parishioner at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Point Breeze. She was a pious woman of devout Catholic faith and proud Croatian heritage. Margie enjoyed volunteer work for many organizations, especially Childrens Hospital, Ladies of Charity, the Central Catholic High School Mothers Guild, and was selected as a volunteer Christmas decorator at the White House in 2011. She was well known for her incredibly caring, kind, and giving spirit. Margie was the daughter of the late Mate' and Anna (Stimac) Gasparovic. The youngest and last of seven in a close-knit immigrant family, she was preceded in death by her siblings John, Ann, Mary, Matthew (Mary), Thomas, and Steve "Snaps" Gasparovic.

Beryl Ruth (Deem) Richardson of North Huntingdon passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023 at age 93. Beryl was a member of Brush Creek Lutheran Church in Irwin. Beryl was born in Milltown (Penn Hills) Penn Township to her parents, William H. Deem and Ruth Goldner Deem. Beryl was a graduate of Penn High School class of 1947 where she was a member of The Penn High Trio. The Trio performed for many functions, including a live performance on KDKA Radio for their Saturday morning program, Starlets on Parade, and also enjoyed singing on the Candis Sisters program for WWSW Radio. The Trio also did live broadcasts from the William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh. Beryl married William Robert Richardson during his military weekend leave on June 30, 1951, and began her teaching career in the Penn Hills School District following her graduation from Slippery Rock State College later that year. Beryl was an accomplished pianist with perfect pitch, and played effortlessly with or without sheet music. She loved to read, and shared many of her books with her family and friends. Beryl loved cross-stitching and made well over 200 projects, giving them as gifts to family and friends. A true sports fan, Beryl rooted for the Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins. She also enjoyed traveling anywhere in America with family and friends.

Helen M. Burkhardt, age 91, of Port Vue, died on January 5, 2023, at St. Clair Hospital. Born February 18, 1931, in Warren, PA. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Sarah (Bowser) Best and wife of the late Edward A. Kiesell and Raymond Burkhardt. Helen worked for Stouffer's Restaurant, Eat'n Park, Rendulic Meat Packing in her early years and as a caregiver later in life. She and her husband Ray ran Kiesell Soup Kitchen and Chapel in McKeesport for over 35 years. Helen would feed the homeless, have Christmas parties, pass out clothing and teach the Word of God. Serving the underprivileged held a special place in her heart, and her selflessness and kindness were a true example to all who knew her. Above all, Helen was a Woman of God and, as a minister, was known as Sister Helen.

Barb was an avid reader as she would sit up all night to finish a book. She enjoyed baking, traveling & she especially loved her trips to the beach. Morris C. Decolati, 86, of Elizabeth Twp, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023. He was born September 14, 1936 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Morris J. and Rose Virginia (Tozana) Decolati. Morris was a US NAVY Veteran and was a member of the White Oak American Legion. He held many jobs throughout his lifetime, he had worked for Copperweld, US Steel, Elizabeth Carbide and retired from Pittsburgh Cryogenics. He regularly attended Park Baptist Church in Versailles and was involved with the Burger Bash group there. Morris was a handyman, he could fix anything with some string and some duct tape and was affectionately called Macgyver by his family. He loved working outside, especially in his garden where he grew lots of vegetables and once grew a pumpkin that was almost 300 pounds. He also enjoyed fishing, grilling, working on his cars and remodeling his house. Morris was an amazing man, and was the best husband, daddy and grandfather in the world and taught his family everything. He will be greatly missed by all.

She worked at the pool at Kennywood Park during high school, became a secretary at Firth Sterling, then spent the majority of her life as a homemaker. Her most treasured time was serving as a CCD instructor for second through twelfth grades for 25 years, specializing in teaching First Holy Communion. She served as the vice president of council at Holy Family Parish, Our Lady of Joy Church. She was also a founding member of the McKeesport Choraliers.

Dolly Prokop, age 74 of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022 in Jefferson Hills Manor. Born September 20, 1948 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Robert V. and Lube (Sellan) Medvidovich. A member of Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish - St. Michael's Site, Dolly was an esthetician by trade and was the founder and owner of the Allegheny Beauty Academy and proprietor of both the former Fashion Curl Salon in Clairton and the Skin Electrology and Acne Care Center in White Oak and Versailles. In her spare time, she was very artisically inclined with her crafting and quilting; loved movies, travel, and trips to the casino; but was most importantly an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Dolly is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years Thomas Prokop; her sons Thomas (Melissa) Prokop of Laytonsville, MD and Daniel (Natalie) Prokop of Allison Park; her grandchildren Madeline, Matthew, Meredith, Joseph, Nadia, and Petra; her sisters Sally (the late Jerry) Muro Lucarelli of Elizabeth Twp., Patricia Medvidovich of Jefferson Hills, and Mary Anne (the late Edward) Ekin of Renfrew; her nephew William G. (Denise) Goepfert, Jr. of Butler; and her brother-in-law Robert (Jo Carol) Prokop fo Martinsburg, WV.

Scott Michael Mason, 59, of Pittsburgh, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022 at McKeesport Hospital. He was born September 7, 1963 in Pittsburgh and is the son of Diane Mason Sobczak. Scott worked with Matt Scheller as a shop foreman in landscaping for the past ten years. He was the embodiment of the Renaissance Man; becoming a chef, teaching himself to play guitar, creating art, becoming a problem-solving mechanic and welder, and more than can fit in this small space. Scott was a spitfire who valued honesty in others above all else.

Patricia M. Kumf, age 67 of Lincoln Place, passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, December 31, 2022. Born June 19, 1955 in Monogahela, she was a daughter of the late William and Olga (Radosh) Nogach. A customer service representative for Pittsburgh Mercy Behavioral Health, her co-workers always said she was an amazing "work mom," but her family says that she was an even better "real mom." Patricia was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church of Millvale, CFU Lodge #146, and was very active as a Brownie Troop leader in Lincoln Place over the years. In her spare time, she loved to craft and loved dogs...especially Schnauzers...and especially her Schnauzer Khloe. Patricia is survived by her husband of 43 years Richard Kumf; her children Melissa Kumf of Lincoln Place, Amanda Kumf of Munhall, and Gregory Kumf of Lincoln Place; and her sister Norma (the late Rudy) Golling of West Mifflin.

Margaret “Chookie” Brown died peacefully of natural causes on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. She was born on February 4, 1933 to Margaret Henrietta Apful Brown and Crawford Frazier Brown in Wilkinsburg, PA, where she spent most of her life.
