Donald Allen Harrison, 79, of North Huntingdon, died Saturday, June 9, 2018 at home. He was born July 30, 1938 in Greensburg, a son of the late Charles and Edna (Bowser) Harrison and was also preceded in death by his daughter Kelly Ann Bollman, siblings Edith Margaret “Peggy” Wilson, Marilyn G. “Susie” Armor, James, Thomas “Tucker”, and William Harrison; and a step grandson James McFadden. Don was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Larimer, where he served as a Deacon, Elder, and President of the Congregation. He was formerly active with the Norwin Colorguard, and Boy Scouts of America, which awarded him with the Silver Beaver Award.

Dorothy A. DiTommaso, 87, of North Huntingdon, died Monday June 4, 2018. She was born October 22, 1930 in Trafford, the daughter of the late Marko and Mary (Fabijnac) Turkovich and was also preceded in death by her husband Angelo L. DiTommaso and a brother Paul Turkovich. Dorothy and her late husband Angelo co-founded the popular eatery Angelo’s Ristorante in 1956 on Rt. 30 in Irwin. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin, a former member of the Irwin Garden Club and belonged to several golf leagues. Cooking was her passion. Surviving are her children John M. (Sana) DiTommaso, Denise (Vince) Dalicandro, and Debbie (Robert) Huey; her grandchildren Christian Koury, and Angela and Alyssa Huey; and her great granddaughter Viviana Koury.

George A. Wray, age 102, of Irwin, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018. He was born April 26, 1916 in Altoona, a son of the late James and Minnie Luemma (Heacox) Wray. He was a long-time member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in North Huntingdon where he served as an elder and on their property committee and was proud of his membership in the Norwin Men’s Prayer Fellowship. He was a World War II Army veteran that served in the 188th Combat Engineer Battalion attached to General Patton’s 4th Armored Division. He retired after 42 years as a production coordinator for Westinghouse Corporation in East Pittsburgh.

Betty Jane (Smith) Lenhart, 93, a resident of Golden Heights, Irwin, died there Friday June 1, 2018. She was born June 10, 1924 in Chattanooga, TN, a daughter of the late Martin and Jane (Boran) Smith. Betty was a faithful church goer who loved music and dancing and had an extreme love for nature. She enjoyed oil painting and was a member of the Norwin Art League and was well known for her sense of humor, and sweet and pleasant disposition. She worked for a number of years at the former Cox’s Department Store, Norwin Shopping Center. She is survived by her children Susan Lee Hill and her husband Jeffrey of Irwin and Debra Jane Lenhart of Coolville, OH; a sister Billie Elms of North Huntingdon; nieces Jana Kay Elms and Paula Carr; and great nephews Ian Elms and Travis Carr.

Blanche Savidge Showers Baker of North Huntingdon, went home to be with the Angels Thursday May 31, 2018 at Woodhaven Care Center, Monroeville.

She was born in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Henry and Mary (nee Savidge) Showers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Baker; Uncles George Savidge and Dr. S. Luther Savidge; Aunt H. Blanche Savidge; also, brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws.

She is survived by her daughter, Blanche Elaine Baker, sister-in-law Jane Gira, also many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Nina (Martinelli) Heath, age 88, of Elizabeth passed away Monday, May 21, 2018. She was born September 6, 1929 in Blythedale, a daughter of the late Evelino and Elisabetto Martinelli. She was a member of the Central Highlands Methodist Church in Elizabeth. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Heath; daughter Cathy Thornton; and her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son John T. Heath of Elizabeth; grandchildren Patrick Thornton, Adria Markowsi and Thomas Thornton; and two great grandchildren. No visitation.

Stephen Kottelich, 77, of East McKeesport, died Tuesday May 15, 2018. He was born April 20, 1941 in Jeannette, a son of the late Stephen and Mary (Brletic) Krcelic and was also preceded in death by his brother John Kottelich and a cousin Anne Marie Golek. He was a retired employee of U.S. Steel. He is survived by cousins.

Ruth L. (Whitehead) Painter, of North Huntingdon, died Friday May 4, 2018. She was born in Irwin, a daughter of the late Clarence and Vera (Cook) Whitehead and was also preceded in death by her husband Marion C. Painter and a son Calvin C. Painter. Along with her late husband they operated M.C. Painter Excavation. She was a former member of the United Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, Irwin, and formerly active with the Hahntown Women’s Club. She loved the outdoors. Surviving are her children Alan R. (Cynthia) Painter; her daughter in law LaRue Painter; her grandchildren Bria (Kevin) Craycraft, Lindy (Brian) Charney, Roy (Grace) Painter, Matthew Stants Painter (Erin), and Sabrina (David) Rose; also sixteen grandchildren; a sister Loretta (Chuck) Faith of South Carolina; also nieces and nephews.

Clara M. (Marschik) Protheroe, age 86, of North Versailles, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018. She was born February 25, 1932 in Murrysville, a daughter of the late Ralph and Jane (Wilson) Marschik. She was a long time member of Linway United Presbyterian Church in North Versailles, where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She worked in bookkeeping at Clean Linen in Wilkinsburg for over 30 years before retiring. She loved to participate with different square dancing groups in the area.

Patricia M. (Marsula) Geyer, age 84, of Pitcairn, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018. She was born October 17, 1933 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late John Matthew and Bernice Catherine (Barnes) Marsula. She was a member of All Souls Episcopal Church in North Versailles. Before retiring, she worked as a secretary and receptionist at Union Switch & Signal, Rockwell, and the University of Pittsburgh. She was a proud member of the Eastern Star, Amaranth, Fireman’s and Engineer’s Lady Auxiliary, Dames of Malta, and the White Shrine of Jerusalem. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of over 47 years Lawrence Geyer; brother Jack Marsula; and sister Bernice Katherine Lasher. She is survived by her son Lawrence (Susan) Geyer Jr. of Chalfant; and granddaughter Elizabeth Geyer.

Michele (Pinzak) Laubly, of Glassport, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 20, 2018, two days short of her 52nd birthday. Devoted wife and best friend of Charles, step mom to David, loving and dedicated daughter to Elaine and Bill Allen of East McKeesport, niece “baby girl” to auntie Mar Mooney of Bloomfield, niece and god daughter to Jim (Esther) Mooney of Michigan, sister to JoAnn (Tim) Gusty of North Versailles and cousin of Nicole Mooney of Michigan. The family wished to sincerely thank the nurses from Heartland, especially Louann McKinley and Brenda Hermann.

Vilma O. (Urda) Noonan, age 95, of North Versailles, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018. She was born February 22, 1923 in Braddock, a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Kaminca) Urda. She was a past member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Pittsburgh before it closed, and worked in the factory of Switch and Signal before retiring. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Ray Noonan; brothers Ambrose and George Urda; and sister Irene Dursky. She is survived by her brother Elmer (Francis) Urda of Arizona; sister Dorothy DePaulo from East McKeesport; and her loving nieces.

Andrew Kovall, 89, of North Versailles, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 8, 2018. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, scholar, and friend. Andrew was born April 15, 1928 in Linn, Pennsylvania. He is preceded in death by his parents Susanna and John Kovall, and his siblings John, Andrew, Michael, Paul, George, Pete, and Susanna. He devoted his life to public service. Andrew joined the Army in 1946 and spent much of his six years of active duty service in Asmara, Eritrea in East Africa, a place he held near to his heart until his last days, even taking a trip back in 1995. After his time in the Army, he joined the Navy Reserves, serving 22 more years to his country. Andrew worked for the state of Pennsylvania as a vocational rehabilitation counselor for 30 years in Pittsburgh and McKeesport. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW and served as an usher at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. Andrew considered himself a renaissance man who enjoyed reading, tailoring, painting, tinkering, and especially gardening. He challenged his mind throughout his lifetime, learning new languages, taking college courses in his retirement, and doing the daily crossword in red pen. He had a great love of music that he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Never having met a stranger, Andrew loved conversing with everyone around him. He most loved spending time with his family. Andrew is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Virginia; daughter Carolyn (Robert) Brown; son Robert (Sandra) Kovall; granddaughter Chelsea (Tommy); grandsons Evan, Michael, Matthew, and Mitchell; great-granddaughter Grace; and many nieces and nephews.
