Stanley B. Lowry Jr., age 73, McKeesport, died November 24, 2022, at Greensburg Care Center. Born June 22, 1949, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Stanley B. and Ann M. (Liberatore) Lowry Sr.
Stanley retired as a McKeesport local pizza delivery driver and previously worked for Copperweld in Glassport. He was a collector of vinyl records, Elvis and The Beatles memorabilia, and Venetian glass art. Stanley, most importantly, cherished the time he spent with his great-nephews.

William R. Francis, age 78, of McKeesport, died November 27, 2022, at home.  Born December 3, 1943, in Charleston, SC, he was the son of the late Oliver L. Sr. and Queen (Rivers) Francis and Life Partner of Donna Knight.  William retired from the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory and opened his own business, Francis INSight Market, on Locust Street in McKeesport.  William served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He was a Golden Glove Champion and also boxed while in the Army.  He enjoyed testing his luck with scratch-off tickets, and many knew him from around McKeesport from gathering and scrapping materials. William was a member of the St. Paul AME Church in McKeesport and the Prince Hall Masonic Temple.

Charles Nicholas Vincenzini,  82, of White Oak, passed away Monday, November 28, 2022. He was born May 3, 1940 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Pio and June (Finney) Vincenzini. He was a member and usher at Mary, Mother of God Parish - St. Angela Church in White Oak. Charles was a carpenter and was retired from US Steel Irvin Works after 43 years of service. He was a member the Holy Name Society and was also a member and former chairman of the White Oak Recreation Board. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and spending quality time with his family, grandchildren and friends.

He proudly served in the United States Army Reserve and was employed at Motor Coils in Braddock where he produced coils for many years for railroad trains. Edward Louis Gronlund Jr. of Elizabeth Township died at the age of 86 on Sunday, November 27, 2022. Born March 10, 1936, he was the son of the late Edward Sr. and Dorothy Campbell Gronlund. A printer by profession, he was an employee/owner of Wivagg Printing in McKeesport, where he worked over 50 years. Ed’s life is defined by his work ethic, service to his country & community, and his ability to entertain others with his storytelling and humor. He served in the US Army, was a lifetime member & president of Central Volunteer Fire Company, served on the Elizabeth Township on the Board of Commissioners, supported numerous local and national organizations, coached little league baseball, co-founded his beloved Boar’s Nest hunting camp, and was always willing to lend his time and talents to others in need.

She graduated from McKeesport High School in 1947 and retired after 44 years in clerical positions for Crum and Forster Insurance Co. in Pittsburgh. She was an active member of Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Patrick Church, their Bereavement Committee, Rosary Society, Ladies of Charity, and the Christian Mothers, as well as a member of the Versailles AARP.

Jill was the owner and operator of Mr. T-Shirt, where she had a special talent of screen printing.  She also worked in gun manufacturing at Lesleh Precison Inc. in Rostraver.  She was a hard worker and an accomplished artist. She always excelled in athletics and was given a scholarship in college for basketball. She was also avid golf player, and guitar player. Jill had a huge heart and a great sense of humor. She will be greatly missed and was loved by many.

He was born June 27, 1920 in Herminie and was the son of the late Giuseppe "Joseph" and Mary (Venturelli) Zecchini. He was the husband of the late Florence (Swonger) Zecchini who died May 27, 2003. They were married December 6, 1939. Geno was retired from the former US Steel National Tube Works and was a US Army Veteran serving in WWII. For his service, he received the Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation Medal (Japan), Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal.

  Richard "Iggy' J. Ignat, 84, died Saturday November 26, 2022. He is the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Chakey) Ignat. He is survived by his beloved wife Deborah Ignat; son Richard "Ricky" (Nita) Ignat; daughter Sherri (Joe) Hamar; grandchildren Clayton (Christina), Shaina, Chelsea (Imir), J.T. (Sarah), and Kaitlyn; great-grandchildren Camryn, Caleigh, Santana, Simeon, and baby Hamar on the way; brothers Robert, Ronald and Johnny; brother-in-law John (Judy) Lesko; sister-in-laws Patty Lesko and Joanne Holmes; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandson Tyler and sister-in-law Jacqueline Ulokovic. Iggy served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict, worked at US Steel Homestead works and also at Westwood Golf Club. He loved to play blackjack and vacation. A funeral mass will be held Thursday 10am at Holy Trinity Church. Arrangements by the Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne.

George Michael Velardo, Sr., age 71, of McKeesport, died on Thursday, November 24, 2022. He was born in McKeesport on November 22, 1951 and is the son of the late George Henry and Barbara Kittle Velardo. He was employed as a mechanic at various companies including Meineke Muffler and Walmart. In addition to his work as a mechanic, he also was employed at the former TransCare and was a volunteer firefighter for North Versailles Township. George was a very positive, caring person and would do anything for anybody. He loved Christmas and dressing up as Santa Claus for all his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchild, as well as for the children at Forbes Vocational Daycare. George was a member of All Souls’ Episcopal Church in North Versailles and was a former member of the choir.

She was born September 20, 1941 in McKeesport, and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Louise (Bartholomai) Bosetti. Pat was a dedicated housewife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother. In her spare time, Pat worked as a Floral Designer for Johnston the Florist. When she was younger, she originally was a member of St. Stephens Church, but as time changed, she became a member at St. Angela Merici, where eventually her and her husband, Ernest, renewed their vows. She enjoyed working in the yard and used every excuse to break out the power washer. She loved building puzzles, and playing cards with friends.

Lawrence "Larry" Sobek passed on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at the age of 86, with his loving family at his side.  Larry was the loving and devoted husband of Helena (Cortazzo) for 61 years.  Larry was the son of the late Albert Sobek and Margaret (Toth), stepson of Rosalie (Franks) Sobek.  Beloved brother of Dolores Krisher, brother-in-law to Lois Cortazzo and the late Pat Cortazzo and late Margaret Ily.

Devoted father to his children, Larry Jr. (Daria), Elaine (late Kenny) Zucarelli, Timmy (Stacey) and Cynthia (Tom) Bowman.  Loving Pap to his Grandchildren, Larry III, Ryan, Andy, Seth, Daria, Leanna, Dominic, Natalie, and Sofia. And Great Grandchildren Sebastian, Jake, and Emma.
 
Larry worked for United Airlines as a reservationist for 35 years.  He worked in Pittsburgh then the office transferred to Cleveland where he commuted every weekend back and forth to Pittsburgh.  He then was transferred to Virginia and retired from the airline. He realized that he was too young to retire and began his employment with Alfieri Funeral Home.  He was a dedicated employee and loved comforting many families in their difficult times for 18 years. Larry was a proud US Navy Veteran. A lifelong member of the Wilmerding Volunteer Fire Department. He served on the board of the East Boros Hall of Fame. He is a lifetime member of St. Aloysuis now known as St. Joseph the Worker Parish.  He is a graduate of Rankin High School and Wilmerding resident for over 61 years.

Quanisha Lashay Ball, 31, of McKeesport, PA passed away on November 17, 2022. Quanisha was born on September 20, 1991 to Courtney Tompkins & Clarence Ball, Sr. in Pittsburgh, PA.

Quanisha also known as Q, spent her younger years growing up in McKeesport, PA with her siblings where she enjoyed playing softball, basketball and mimed for Macedonia Church of Duquesne. She also enjoyed being a member of LaRosa boys and girls club.  

After graduating high school in 2010, Quanisha moved to Port Vue, PA where she established her independence. She worked for Walmart for 5+ years, Aramark for 10+ years and UPMC where she started in the cafeteria before she worked her way up to an office position at Western Psych. All of the jobs, Quanisha worked hard and excelled to higher levels alongside her sister Alexis before she embarked on her new journey and chapter in Decatur, GA. While in Georgia, Quanisha continued to flourish and blossom into her own womanhood.  Q found her niche at Emory Winship Cancer Institute where she felt at home and touched many hearts by assisting her patients.

Quanisha’s life was filled with love laughter and beautiful memories. Quanisha had a heart of gold. She loved to give and make those closest to her happy, especially her nieces and nephews who she adored. She enjoyed shopping, music, daily FaceTime conversations with her family and traveling. Quanisha enjoyed experiencing new things and going to new cities; Vegas being her favorite. She was in love with fashion with a big affection for her hats, Q had her own unique and beautiful style. Last but not least, if you knew Q, you knew she had a strong endearment for her wife, Rihanna.
