Born January 19, 1957 in McKeesport, he is the son of Norma (Harcleroad) Chalfant of Jefferson Hills and the late Wilbur Chalfant. Chief Richard S. “Lefty” Adams age 79, of Duquesne, on May 22, 2020 at UPMC McKeesport. Born on August 13, 1940, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Stephen & Josephine (Melkon) Adams. He was a Duquesne Police officer for 51 years serving as a Patrolman, Detective, Lieutenant, Assistant Chief, founding member of the City’s K-9 Unit and retiring as the Chief of Police in 2016. He was a lifetime member of F.O.P. Lodge #91, an avid softball player, started the Holy Name softball team in the mid 1980’s, loved to dance and watch his grandchildren participate in sports and his house and pool were always open to friends and neighbors. He was the husband of the late Judiann “Judy” (Harris) Adams.
