Betty A. Welcker, 93, of McKeesport, died Monday, November 6, 2017 at Forbes Hospital, Monroeville. Born in McKeesport, February 5, 1924, she was the retired secretary to the Dean of Student Affairs at the McKeesport Campus of Penn State University. She was a member of McKeesport Presbyterian Church, volunteered at McKeesport Hospital and the Latterman Clinic, and was a graduate of McKeesport High School. Daughter of the late James and Lillian Webb Cardwell; wife of the late Howard F. Welcker; sister of the late Jane Moffitt and Tom and James Cardwell; she is survived by her son, Paul F. Welcker of Monroeville; daughter, Karen (Bob) Brown of Chester, VA; sister in law, Evelyn Barrett of White Oak; also by nieces and nephews and 3 grand dogs. Friends will be received in the Hunter Funeral Home, Inc., 1600 Coursin Street, McKeesport, PA 15132 on Saturday from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A service will be held Monday, November 13, 2017 at 11 AM in McKeesport Presbyterian Church with the Rev. James P. Leuenberger officiating, with visitation beginning at 10 AM in the church chapel. Interment will follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to an animal shelter of your choice.

P. Paul Pomaibo, 89, a resident of Redstone Highlands Greensburg, formerly of North Huntingdon, died Friday November 3, 2017. He was born July 5, 1928 in McKeesport, a son of the late John and Suzanna (Matura) Pomaibo and was also preceded in death by his wife Evelyn J (Lowe) Pomaibo and a daughter Jerilyn Johnson. Paul was a retired employee of Westinghouse Energy Center, Monroeville and a member of Lutheran Church of Our Savior, North Huntingdon. He was a past master of Shidle Lodge No. 601, Free and Accepted Masons, Irwin, and a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Pittsburgh, and Syria Temple. Earl D. Ferrington, age 87 of Highland Grove, died November 3, 2017 at UPMC McKeesport. Born March 18, 1930 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Francis and Merle (Fleehr) Ferrington, and loving husband of the late Donna Louise (Gibson) Ferrington. Earl honorably served in the US Army in France during the Korean War.
Following his military service, he worked for Continental Can as a sign painter, along with various other jobs with the business. He retired after 32 years of dedicated service with the company. Earl was a lifetime member of the Highland Grove United Methodist Church and was also a former Mason. In his free time, he loved to travel with his family on spur-of-the-moment road trips, making many memories that his family will cherish.
Earl was also a friendly and familiar face in the Highland Grove neighborhood. He loved to tend to his yard and was always there to lend a helping hand to others whether it be mowing their lawn or shoveling snow. Earl’s approachable and kind nature will be missed by his family and many friends and neighbors.
He is survived by his children, Keith (Bonnie) Ferrington of Liberty Borough, Charles (Patricia) Ferrington of San Antonio, TX, and Barbara (the late William) Lockhart of Highland Grove; grandchildren, Keith Jr., Kevin, and Christopher; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Jason, Michael, Ryan, Austin, Evan, Tyler, and Emma; and nephews, Robert and Richard Volk. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Devon Ferrington; and brother, William H. Ferrington.

Dale R. Matthews, age 69, of North Huntingdon, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017. He was born December 29, 1947, in Wilkinsburg, a son of the late David E. and Leola “Marie” Matthews. He was a long-time member of the Norwin Alliance Church in North Huntingdon. He worked as a master stater winder at Westinghouse Electric in East Pittsburgh for over 21 years before going onto work at Curtis Wright in Cheswick for the next 18 years before retiring. He was a member of the Pitcairn and Ligonier Guns Clubs, the church dart league, and the Westinghouse Bowling Team. He coached softball for PAL and loved hunting and fishing, as well as watching Penn State Football and the Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers. He is survived by his wife of over 48 years Denise “De” (Thompson) Matthews, daughters Dayna Matthews Ceresa and Dianna Matthews both of Pitcairn; Susan Ashley Baden and Sara Jane Matz who he considered grandchildren; brothers David “Joel” (Joann) Matthews of Ligonier and Daniel “Danny” (Marlene) Matthews of Level Green; and his two dogs Turner and Walle.

ANGELA M. KARAN, 57, of West Mifflin, died Oct. 31, 2017. She is the daughter of the late Rudolph and Dolores (Wilson) Bellisario. Angela is survived by her daughters Crystal Karan, Danielle Karan, Jessica Ritchie, and Kaylee Ritchie; grandchildren Dylan Kyne, Tallie Stinson, and Taylen Stinson; sister Barbara Butch and brother Rudolph Bellisario. Angela spent much of her life working hard in retail but later pursued a career in massage therapy. She was most passionate about riding her Harley Davidson while soaking up the sun, raising her four daughters, spending time with her grandsons, and making the most of life with her closest friends.
