George J. Bubanic, age 86, of McKeesport, formerly of Port Vue, died February 22, 2016, at UPMC McKeesport. Born June 22, 1929, in Port Vue, he was the son of the late Goerge J. and Anne (Pancurak) Bubanic and the husband of Loretta (Mesko) Bubanic.

Nomikos "Mickey" D. Patellis, 85, formerly of Blaine Hill, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2016 in Jefferson Hospital. Retired, after 46 years of service, as a chemical lab technician for U.S. Steel, Clairton Works, he was a member of St. Anthony Greek Orthodox Church in Clairton, a 50 year member of Stephen Bayard Lodge #526 in Elizabeth and Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Madelyn Marie Stanton, 98, of Boston, died Monday, February 22, 2016 at home. She was born December 7, 1917 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Thomas Hibbs and the late Francis Wilson Hibbs Lattimer. She was the wife of the late George H. Stanton who died May 22, 1973. She was a member of the Greenock United Methodist Church and was the organist there for many years. Madelyn was also the organist for 50 years for the First Presbyterian Church of Glassport and was pianist for the West Side United Methodist Church Bible School.

Robert C. Shaw, 87, of Mount Vernon, died Saturday, February 20, 2016 at home. He was born December 23, 1928 in Duquesne and was the son of the late Ira Dayne and June Cunningham Shaw. Robert was a member of Mount Vernon Community Presbyterian Church and was proprietor of Allegheny Insurance Agency, Sentry Realty Company, and Allegheny Tax Service. He was the former owner of Shrader Veterinary Hospital.

Darlene Jean Thorp, 75, of McKeesport, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Kane Regional Center, McKeesport. She was born July 19, 1940 in Wilkinsburg, PA, a daughter of the late John and Bertha Thorp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Stewart. She is survived her four sons, John, Richard, Gary, and Charles (Carla) Blon; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, on Friday from 4-5 p.m. followed by a memorial service. Janet D. Widel Finney, age 79, of West Mifflin, died February 20,2016, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born June 18, 1936, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Edith (Palmer) Widel.
Janet was retired from Sam’s Club, where she worked in the demonstration department and she will be deeply missed by all her fellow employees.

The Reverend Canon Richard Joseph Hardman passed away in Stuart, FL on January 28, 2016 at the age of 93. Dick, known most affectionately as Papa, was born on May 6, 1922 to Joseph and Violet Ivy Brownhill Hardman in Pittsburgh, PA. On his 18th birthday, Papa enlisted in the US Navy and served as a naval aviator flying TBF Avenger torpedo bombers from aircraft carriers in the Atlantic during WWII.

Anne K. (Vukovich) (Kerklo) Wittress, age 101 of Spring Hill, FL, formerly of Port Vue, died February 18, 2016 in Florida. Born February 8, 1915 in Penobscot, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Rose (Evanovich) Vukovich and wife of the late William Wittress and Frank Kerklo. Anne loved to read. Sometimes she would read up to 3 newspapers a day and even reread them. She worked at a tin plate mill when she was younger and was an original Rosie Riveter. Later she would go on to work for Zotter’s Bakery.

John I. Griser, 75, of Versailles, died Thursday, February 18, 2016. He was born January 8, 1941 in Pitcairn, a son of the late Arthur L. and Irma A. (Scott) Griser and was also preceded in death by his siblings Agnes Olesky, Arthur E., Harry M., Joseph, and James E. Griser. He was a former employee of the Winchester Room, North Versailles and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Howard was the loving husband of the late Margaret Herreran Prezel. He worked as a sign painter at Helderlein Signs and was an employee of Haines Supermarket. He was also a proud member of Corpus Christi church.

Betty J. Perich, of Pleasant Hills, formerly of Port Vue, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016. She was born Oct. 26, 1932, in McKeesport, and was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary White Schaffner. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, the late Michael Perich. She is survived by her daughter, Michele (Lyle) Washowich, of Pleasant Hills; grandsons, Michael and Samuel Washowich; sisters, Rose Supansic, of McKeesport, and Helen Krajacic, of Liberty Borough; and several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her siblings, Goldie Nagy, Mary Grommo, William “Jumbo” Schaffner and Dolores Wedel. Betty retired as an administrative assistant with U.S. Steelworks Union and Legend Pharmacies in Pittsburgh. She was a member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church and it’s Young at Hearts, Kolo and Sisterhood and also the Red Hat Society. Friends will be received from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the JENNIFER S. JORDAN FUNERAL HOME INC., White Oak, where a Pomen service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church with the Very Rev. Stevan Rocknage officiating. Interment will follow in McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Sava Church Renovation Fund, 901 Hartman St., McKeesport, PA 15132.

Born March 21, 1928 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Ruth (Cowan) Norgren, and beloved wife of the late Verden A. Fern, Jr. Betty is survived by her children, Edward L. Warren M. Davis, age 63 of McKeesport, died February 15, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Born September 2, 1952 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Jack H. Davis and Ruby G. Sears, and beloved husband of Kathy (Guy) Davis. Warren honorably served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he worked as a machine operator for CSX Railroad, where he retired from after many years of service.
