She was born December 7, 1917 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Thomas Hibbs and the late Francis Wilson Hibbs Lattimer. She was the wife of the late George H. Stanton who died May 22, 1973. She was a member of the Greenock United Methodist Church and was the organist there for many years. Madelyn was also the organist for 50 years for the First Presbyterian Church of Glassport and was pianist for the West Side United Methodist Church Bible School.

Darlene Jean Thorp, 75, of McKeesport, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Kane Regional Center, McKeesport.  She was born July 19, 1940 in Wilkinsburg, PA, a daughter of the late John and Bertha Thorp.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Stewart.  She is survived  her four sons, John, Richard, Gary, and Charles (Carla) Blon; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.  Friends will be received at the James W. The Reverend Canon Richard Joseph Hardman passed away in Stuart, FL on January 28, 2016 at the age of 93. Dick, known most affectionately as Papa, was born on May 6, 1922 to Joseph and Violet Ivy Brownhill Hardman in Pittsburgh, PA. On his 18th birthday, Papa enlisted in the US Navy and served as a naval aviator flying TBF Avenger torpedo bombers from aircraft carriers in the Atlantic during WWII.

Anne K. (Vukovich) (Kerklo) Wittress, age 101 of Spring Hill, FL, formerly of Port Vue, died February 18, 2016 in Florida. Born February 8, 1915 in Penobscot, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Rose (Evanovich) Vukovich and wife of the late William Wittress and Frank Kerklo. Anne loved to read. Sometimes she would read up to 3 newspapers a day and even reread them. She worked at a tin plate mill when she was younger and was an original Rosie Riveter. Later she would go on to work for Zotter’s Bakery.

She was born Oct. 26, 1932, in McKeesport, and was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary White Schaffner. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, the late Michael Perich. She is survived by her daughter, Michele (Lyle) Washowich, of Pleasant Hills; grandsons, Michael and Samuel Washowich; sisters, Rose Supansic, of McKeesport, and Helen Krajacic, of Liberty Borough; and several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her siblings, Goldie Nagy, Mary Grommo, William “Jumbo” Schaffner and Dolores Wedel. Betty retired as an administrative assistant with U.S. Steelworks Union and Legend Pharmacies in Pittsburgh. She was a member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church and it’s Young at Hearts, Kolo and Sisterhood and also the Red Hat Society. Friends will be received from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the JENNIFER S. JORDAN FUNERAL HOME INC., White Oak, where a Pomen service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church with the Very Rev. Stevan Rocknage officiating. Interment will follow in McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Sava Church Renovation Fund, 901 Hartman St., McKeesport, PA 15132.
