Mary Lucot, age 90, of North Huntingdon, passed away February 25, 2024 at her son's home in Penn Hills. She was born on October 11, 1933 in Minnesota, a daughter of the late John and Mary Lohlein Peterson. Mary was a member of St. Agnes Church and was employed as a Dental Assistant prior to her retirement. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed sewing, and loved to bake. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband James Lucot. She is survived by three sons, John and his wife, Cathy, Jim and his wife, Annette, and Michael; brother Charles Vasko; four grandchildren, Jeremy, John (Heather), Joshua (Keren), Autumn (David); eight great-grandchildren, Micah, Haylee, Garrett, Holly, Carter, Ava, Aaron, and Ashley; great-great-granddaughter Charlotte; and numerous nieces and nephews. Catherine M. “Cathy” Scharding, age 65, of Duquesne, passed away on February 23, 2024, in UPMC Presbyterian. Born in Pittsburgh on April 17, 1958, she was the daughter of Donald and Eva (Noll) Scharding.
She was a retired paralegal and was Catholic by faith. She earned a B.S. in Finance from Washington and Jefferson College and a paralegal degree from Duquesne University. Catherine was a community activist-zealous about keeping her neighborhood clean and safe.
She is the sister of Sarah “Sally” (David Horne) Scharding of Bethel Park, Albert (Elizabeth) Scharding of Munhall and Andrew Scharding of Duquesne; and aunt of Amber Scharding, Thomas Scharding, Samantha Horne and the late Sandra Scharding. She is also survived by cousins.

Audrey Jane Sturkie, age 83 of North Huntingdon passed away February 24, 2024 at her home. She was born on March 12, 1940 in Duquesne, a daughter of the late Aldo and Elizabeth Stanko Tagliavini. Audrey was a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church in North Huntingdon and was the owner of Sturkie Masonry along with her husband. She cherished nothing more than the time she spent with her family. In addition to her parents, Audrey was preceded in death by her husband Anthony Sturkie, and daughters Sherrie Gibson, Laura Demeis, Donna Sturkie, and Toni Sturkie. Henry “Hank” Dansak, formerly of McKeesport, passed away on February 20, 2024 in Abington, Pa. Hank was born on March 27, 1930, to Henry and Mary (Francis) Dansak. After his primary and secondary education, Hank enlisted in the United States Army. The skills he learned in the army became the basis for his lifelong career in radio, telephone, and satellite communication systems. This career of more than 50 years took him to countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and Central America where he built or repaired a variety of communication systems on military bases used by American Forces. He could talk for hours about the places he lived, the work he did and the people he met along the way. Hank retired to Rosslyn, Pa. where he continued to hone his love for golf at Sandy Run Country Club, where he was proud to be one of its oldest members.
Hank is survived by his wife of 54 years, Aree (Klawsamoot) Dansak of Bangkok, Thailand, his daughter, Jacqueline, his son, Daniel, and his grandson, Devon, of Philadelphia. He is also survived by one brother, Father Thomas Dansak, of Murrysville, Pa., his sisters-in-law Jean Dansak of North Huntingdon, Pa. and Melissa Dansak of Fair Hope, Al., nephews Ryan and David of North Huntingdon, and great-nieces Katherine, Anna, Emily and Grace of North Huntingdon. Hank was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Daniel Dansak MD, and his brother Robert “Chick” Dansak.

Janice H. Hillegass, 89, of Liberty Boro, passed away Friday, February 23, 2024 at home. She was born November 13, 1934 in Wilkinsburg and was the daughter of the late Harry Joseph and Cora Elizabeth (Smeltz) Horne. She worked as an accounting secretary for Easley and Rivers Construction, Inc. Janice was a member of the Liberty Boro Presbyterian Church, where she was a Deacon and was also a former member of the Turtle Creek Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder. In her younger years, she was a great swimmer and competitive diver, for which she was very proud of. Janice had a contagious and wonderful laugh that lit up the whole room. She was a very kind and generous person, who never once complained. She will be greatly missed.

David L. Morton, age 70 of North Huntingdon, passed away on February 22, 2024 at his home while surrounded by his wife and children. He was born on May 5, 1953 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Donald and Margery Malone Morton. Prior to his retirement, David was employed as an Electrical Engineer for First Energy, formerly West Penn Power. He was a graduate of both Norwin High School, Class of 1971, and the University of Pittsburgh, Class of 1975 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. David attended St. Agnes Church with his family, and was an active member within the Boy Scouts . He enjoyed traveling, especially to Notre Dame and Virginia Tech, working on cars, and assembling his annual Lionel Christmas train display. Patricia J. Fouser, age 92, of Dravosburg, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024, in Kane Community Living Center, McKeesport. Born in Pitcairn on October 11, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Louise (Hicks) Smith.
She was Catholic by faith. She enjoyed bingo, was an avid reader, especially articles about WW II, enjoyed war movies, was a wonderful cook and an avid hot tea drinker.

Thomas P. Dunmire, age 79 of North Huntingdon died February 21, 2024, at Transitions, North Huntingdon. He was born November 16, 1944, a son of the late Harry W. and Jean Barrett Dunmire. He was a graduate of Westinghouse Memorial High School. Serving as both secretary and treasurer of the Larimer VFD Social Club, Tom enjoyed spending time with his friends and socializing. Prior to his retirement, Tom was employed by WABTEC in the shipping department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Taber.
