Judith Ann (Bodnar) Ondechek, age 78, of White Oak, formerly of Buena Vista, died September 24, 2023, at Canterbury Place. Born July 7, 1945, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Florence (Gomba) Bodnar. Judith graduated from McKeesport Area High School in 1963. She retired from UPMC McKeesport and Jefferson Hospital, where she worked as a Nurses Aide. She volunteered at Sonshine Kitchen in McKeesport and was a member of Teamsters Local 205 and Local 926. Judith enjoyed yard sales, bingo, and watching game shows. Judith is survived by a son, Michael Ondechek; daughter, Michelle Ondechek; grandchildren, Michay Walker, Raeleen Barncord, and Carolyn Walker; great-grandchildren, Emma Barncord, Ally Barncord, and Ava Carman; sister, Donna Caylor. Virginia M. Como, 98 of Liberty Borough, died Sept. 26, 2023. She is the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Burke) Meisl and beloved wife of the late Arthur Como. Virginia is survived by her daughters Dee (Andrew) Golembiewski and Anita Lepley; daughter in law Sandi Como; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and her dear cat Precious. She was preceded in death by her sons Deacon Gerard Como and Mark Como; daughter Roseanne Slafka; grandchildren Kevin Golembiewski and Aaron Slafka; granddaughter in law Trish Como and brother Frank Meisl. Virginia was a member of St. Joachim and Anne Parish; past president of Christian Mothers of St. Cecilia's Church and a member of the Glassport Bowling League. Friends received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport Thurs. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. A funeral mass will be held Fri. 10:00 am at St. Eugene Church with Father John Civille. Anna Mae Geracitano of Springboro, OH, formerly of Liberty Boro, died September 24, 2023, at Tapestry Senior Living. Born April 25, 1937, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Steve and Helen (Barco) Tokarsky and the wife of the late Ernest "Ernie" Geracitano.
Anna Mae grew up in the lower 10th ward of McKeesport. She graduated from McKeesport High School. Anna Mae retired after 18 years from McKeesport Hospital as a nurse aide. After retirement, she worked a part-time job at Glassport Thrift Center. She was a member of Saints Joachim and Anne Parish and attended mass at the former St. Mark Church in Liberty Boro. Anna Mae enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden, taking special care of her house plants, and attending Red Hat Society events. In recent years, she found joy in painting by numbers kits, jigsaw puzzles, and playing bingo.

Lois Lorraine Gasky 95 of Port Vue, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023. She was born in McKeesport, on February 13th, 1928 to the late Russell Joseph and Eleanor Rose (Haddie) Gardner. She was preceded in death by her husband Gustave Gasky, her brother Edgar Adams of McKeesport, her sister Ruth Woods of Florida and her grandson Rickey Ingram of Elizabeth. Lois is survived by her son Dean (Brenda) Gasky of Port Vue, and daughter Lynn Roberts of DeBary Florida, she leaves behind 8 grandchildren, Russ (Aimee) Gasky of Finley Ohio, Tom Gasky of Dravosburg, Becky Campano of Lincoln, Amy (Pat) Fonner of Liberty, Amanda Reynolds of Mississippi, Daniel (Ellissa) Bathe of Fairfield Ohio, Brian (Leah) Bathe of Lebanon Ohio, and Shonna (Shaun) Wilkerson of Quilcene Washington, 18 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Lois Was a housewife who had over 40 years volunteering at McKeesport Hospital which she loved. Her family was very proud of her service. She enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steeler Games and often cooked for the games. She also loved to travel and would never turn down an outing of any kind. She was an avid walker which she would walk 5 miles a day. Lois would always stop and say hello to everyone and tell us everywhere she walked and who she would see along the way. Lois was also an avid reader and made us laugh quite often. Her beautiful life will live on in the funny stories that will be told for many years and she will be missed dearly. Marjorie "Marge" Gongaware-Samios, 82, of Irwin, great-grandmother, grandmother, mother and wife, born October 1, 1940 passed away September 2, 2023 in Florida after a lengthy illness of cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Marie Gaskell, and son, Gregory. She is survived by her husband, Nicholas Samios who took good care of her during her illness; children, Lori (Ken) Cipra, Renee (John) Leszczynski, Tom Gongaware and Kristen Gongaware (Rob Droppa). Grandchildren, Carolyn (John) Lindsey, Kenny Cipra, Derek (Amy) Gongaware, Damon Gongaware, Madison (Hunter) Gongaware-Stape, Jaden Gongaware and Hannah (Dustin) Pealstrom; great-grandchild, Landen Whitt.
Marge graduated from Irwin High School and became a homemaker and raising her family. She was Catholic by faith and a former member of Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin. She decided to pursue a career and become a real estate agent for many years until she decided to join her husband Nicholas as owner/operator of Jiffy Print until selling the business and returning to the real estate market as a mortgage broker for many decades before retiring and spending winters in Florida. She loved to read, cook, shop and go boating on occasions. A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 1, 2023 from 1-4 p.m. at James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA 15642 with Pastor Glenn Meyers officiating a service at 3:30 p.m.

Dolores J. (Dobransky) Stiver, 94, of West Mifflin entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 22, 2023 in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born in Duquesne on January 9, 1929, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Grego) Dobransky. Mrs. Stiver was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, St. Agnes Church, West Mifflin. A loving and devoted homemaker, Dolores was the beloved wife of the late Paul G. Stiver. Mrs. Stiver is survived by her three daughters, Kelly Stiver, Sandra (Alan) Hartman, and Robin Steiner; three Grandsons, Nathan Hartman, Stephan Hartman and Timothy Steiner; six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In Addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Edward Dobransky and a sister, Gertrude Bacon.

Robert T. Long, 87, of Elizabeth Township and formerly of Duquesne, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Allegheny General Hospital. Born September 21, 1936 in Duquesne, he was the seventh son and eleventh out of twelve children of the late Francis P. Long and Henrietta V. (Weir) Long. Robert graduated from Duquesne City High School and served four years in the United States Air Force. Robert was an officer and supervisor of Long’s Hauling Company, Inc. for over forty years. Upon retirement, he served as a security guard at local facilities with Clark Laboratories his most recent assignment. Robert is survived by his son, Douglas of Hummelstown, PA, sister Louise M. (Kenneth) Peairs, sister-in-law Jane E. Long of Duquesne, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Jean, his brothers, the late Maj. John A., Timothy R., Dr. Francis P., Eugene P., William J. Long, Frederick J. and Richard M. “Mickey” Long, and his sisters, Mary Margaret Stewart, Hannah N. Thomas and Patricia J. Bornyas. Carol J. Valecko, 66, of Coraopolis, died on September 22, 2023, at Merakay Allegheny Valley School of Coraopolis. Born June 27, 1957, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Elaine (Putanko) Valecko.
Carol was disabled from four months old, and despite all of her battles, she lived life and brought joy and love to others through her innocence. Sara earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Pittsburgh and was a member of St. Sava Orthodox Church, McKeesport. She enjoyed visiting Cape May, Disney, watching Star Wars and cooking like her late mother. She was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed listening to music, especially Cold Play. Thomas Vincent Rost, 96, of Greenock, surrounded by his loving family and transcended to the Lords house not made with hands passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023 at home. (The same day of the year that his mother died). Tom was born August 18, 1927 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Paul and Frances Ann (Regensburger) Rost. Tom was a member of Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish- St. Michael Church, Elizabeth Township, American Association of Retired Persons, Elizabeth Township Senior Citizens and the Knights of Columbus. Tom is a veteran of World War II serving with the Navy ‘Seabee's’, the battleship U.S.S. Mitchell, and was based in the Philippines. Tom was co-owner of Rost Electric and was proud of the many hospitals, high schools and high rise office buildings in Pittsburgh that he wired as an electrician. Tom belonged to the IBEW Local 5 for 75 years! Tom loved his family and family outings, camping and travel, RVing, gardening, and boating. He built his own home in Greenock in 1952, a beautiful cabin at the Youghiogheny Lake which included a waterfall, paddle wheel and fountain that was built inside the two floors of the cabin. Once Tom retired from his electrical career, he then took on the project of building his daughter and son-in-law’s cherished home in Elizabeth Township.

On Friday September 22, 2023 Eugene J. Marraccini (Big Eugene) of Versailles Boro passed away at age 76. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents Primo and Pearl Marraccini and granddaughter Nicoletta Ciampa. Eugene is survived by his beloved wife Sandra L Marraccini, sons Eugene and wife Tina, Damon and wife Andrea, granddaughter Melissa, and great grandson Sage Wright and his brother Eddie & Donna Marraccini.
Born in Clairton, PA, and later graduating from Clairton High School in 1965. After high school he went to technical school before being drafted for the US Army in 1966 during the Vietnam War. After leaving the army, he attended Robert Morris University and received a Bachelor’s degree in business.
After graduation, Eugene worked at Union National Bank and then Blue Cross as an auditor. In 1983, he fulfilled his dream of opening batting cages and a sporting goods store; Triple Play in North Versailles, which he operated with his wife Sandra until 2006.
