Mavin L. Koval, age 75, formerly of Braddock, passed away on May 13, 2021. Born in Pittsburgh on October 2, 1945, she was the daughter of the late William and Agnes (Williams) Koval. She was a retired admissions clerk at Braddock Hospital for 47 years. Mavin graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Pittsburgh, Duffs Business School, and she enjoyed reading. She is the sister of James (Linda) Koval of Mechanicsburg and the late Marilyn (late Vernon) Moyer; aunt of Myley Moyer, Sandy (Jeff Wilson) Moyer, Kirk Moyer and the late Jaya Moyer; great aunt of Christopher (Colleen) Moyer, Maya Wilson and the late Dylan Lewis; great great aunt of Caleb Moyer, Kenzie Moyer, Caiden Moyer, Callie Buckley and Theo Buckley. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, 915 KENNEDY AVE., DUQUESNE, 15110, 412-466-3300. A Blessing Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Thomas Dansak officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery in North Braddock. Jim was a retired truck driver and had previously worked for Basic Carbide and the former US Steel National Tube Works.

  Anna (Bicchetti) Pepe, 93, of Glassport, PA, age 93, passed away peacefully with her children at her side on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at UPMC Mercy Hospital.

She is survived by her daughter Maria Cready and husband Ray of West Middlesex, PA, and son Emmett Pepe and wife Leah of Herndon, VA and is the adored grandmother (Nonna) of Brianna Pepe, Amanda Pepe, Angelo Pepe and Amato Pepe and great-grandson Oliver Holden.

She is also survived by her sister Carmela (Bicchetti) Delli Gatti of Nusco, Italy along with many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Emmett Pepe Sr. (deceased 1979) and siblings Amato Bicchetti, Carmine Bicchetti, Pasquale Bicchetti, Raffaele Bicchetti.

Anna was born and raised in Nusco, Italy. The daughter of the late Michele Bicchetti and Angiolina (Napolillo) Bicchetti.  She came to America in 1960 and proudly became an American citizen in 1966. She was a member of the Christian Mothers from St. Cecilia’s/Queen of the Rosary parish. Anna enjoyed duckpin bowling with her Christian Mothers.

Dennis J. Kelly, age 68, of Jefferson Hills, passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at home. He retired as a maintenance technician for King's Family Restaurant in North Versailles.

An Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War, he was a proud foster parent through Pressley Ridge and a two-time past champion of the Horick Annual Horseshoe Tournament. Born June 8, 1952 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late John and Ruth (Gertska) Kelly Maiella.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sherry (Lewis) Kelly; children, Christine Dadey of Pittsburgh, Fredrick Kalinna of the state of California, Bryan Kelly of Belle Vernon, Shannon (Robert) McDonald of Florida, Jerald Kelly of Strabane Twp., Kerrie Kelly of Jefferson Hills and Trisha (Sean Smith) Kelly of Elizabeth Twp.; 14 grandchildren; sisters, Lisa (Jerry) Raymond of Peters Twp., Linda (James) Winschell of Canonsburg and Valerie Kelly of Philadelphia; brothers, Daniel and David Kelly, both of the state of California; also, nieces and nephews.

Robert “Whitey” Wiest, 76, died May 9, 2021, with his loving family at his side. Whitey was the loving husband of Marlene (DePaoli) Wiest; father of Tara Pierce and Noel Wiest; grandfather of Ashley Bittner. Whitey enjoyed watching sports, especially the Auburn Tigers. He also enjoyed bowling and golfing. He was strong in his Byzantine Faith. Per Whitey’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Arthur (Aufie) James Bryan, 78 was born August 29, 1942 in McKeesport, Pa. He was the son of the late John Bryan and Lena (Carter) Bryan Miller.

Aufie graduated from McKeesport High School in 1962.  He worked as a Machine Operator for several warehouses and retired after 35 years with local 205 from Schneiders Dairy.  Music was his medicine.  His production Company AB Productions hosted many college dances and parties and entertainment for the local teens.  Sitting on his back porch listening to Doo Wop and the oldies with his Cherikee Red Pop was a good day. He loved to travel, and cruising was one of his favorites; a total of 12 or more cruises. Aufie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  The McKeesport Past & Present Organization was another one of Aufie’s loves.  He was one of the original members of the organization. He was a very dedicated worker.

Born November 12, 1932 in Versailles, he was a son of the late William J. and Mary Jane (Haywood) Jenkins. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joy L. (Wilkop) Jenkins; sons, William H. (Sherri) Jenkins of Monongahela and Tom D. (Debbie) Jenkins of South Park; daughter, Lorraine (Brian) Finley of Pleasant Hills; grandchildren, Heather Schmidtt, TJ Jenkins, Bill Jenkins Jr., Amelia Kelly, Ashley Birckhead, Samantha Taylor, Marissa Jenkins and Dillon Finley; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was born on October 2, 1956 to parents George Matta, deceased, and Florence (Kelmeckis) Matta, and is survived by his wife Catherine (Love), who met in high school and were married for 39 devoted years; his son, Bradley and wife Gretchen (Dimeling) Matta, and daughter Brittany and her husband Darin Kowalski. George was blessed to be known as “Pappy” to his 4 grandchildren; Kash, Hagen, Bannon, and Kinley - all of whom he adored and provided him with motivation during his battle with brain cancer, and his dog Oliver George also leaves behind his brother, Gary Matta, and brother-in-law, George Dillinger, and his wife Cindy (Pazehoski) Dillinger and nieces and nephews; Logan (Dillinger) and Keith Haselhoff, Tyler and Liz (Heiles) Dillinger, Langley (Matta) and Tyler Shope, Austin Matta and Jaquan Davidson.

George lived a full life; dedicated to supporting his family, helping his friends, and committed to always trying to better the “Mon Valley” - the community he was so proud to have lived in throughout his entire life. His journey in life began in the City of Duquesne, from being born here, one of his proudest political accomplishments, was to be elected as Mayor of Duquesne from (1993-1999). Indeed, being called “Mayor” was a badge of honor as he was a graduate of Duquesne High School (1974) and was elected as City Controller (1989-1993). George obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Penn State University (1978), and Masters in Business Industrial Relations from St. Francis College (1983).

Thomas Brown, age 49, of McKeesport, died April 29, 2021, at home. Born August 26, 1971, he was the son of the late Larry and Mary (Brown) Williams and the husband of Juanita (Banks) Brown.

Thomas worked as a meat packer until he became disabled. He gave his life to the Lord and attended Love Ministry on the North Side. Thomas enjoyed listening to music and watching movies and loved being with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Thomas is survived by children, Crisha Brown, Thomas Ellis and Trevon Brown; stepchildren, India Brown, Akeysha Price, Andre Price, Elza Henderson and Denise Henderson; 14 grandchildren; sister, Angel Brown; grandmother, Ruby Williams; uncle, Vernon Williams; aunt, April Williams; cousin, James Williams; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a baby sister. Arrangements were entrusted to Willig Funeral Home & Crematory.
