Gregory E. “Geddy” Gedman, age 63, of Duquesne, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. Born in McKeesport on February 16, 1958, he was the son of the late Bernard and Mary Lou (Asmonga) Gedman. He was a plasterer artist, a member of Holy Name Church of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, an avid golfer and enjoyed baking and cooking. He is the father of Amber Gedman of Pittsburgh and Karlee Gedman of West Mifflin; partner of Laura “Lola” Marsh; brother of Linda (Melvin Worrall) Gedman of Duquesne, Deborah Gedman DeBellis of Duquesne, Jeffrey (Cindi) Gedman of Duquesne, Veronica (Raymond) Eichelberger of North Versailles; Jayne (Jason) Gedman Juarez of Dallas, GA and Vivian (Christopher) Celaschi of Rostraver. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mildred J. Pastor (Potoma), of Penn Township, PA, formerly of Irwin and McKeesport, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family in Forbes Hospital on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, when God decided it was time for the sweetest woman on earth to bring her light to heaven. Born November 26, 1935, in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Brendza) Potoma. A retired Messenger Escort for McKeesport Hospital, and a member of the Teamsters Union 205, she was a parishioner of St. Agnes Parish where she celebrated her strong faith in God. “Millie” was an avid reader, loved playing cards, watching her game shows, especially Jeopardy, where she rarely missed a question, going to the casino, and above all spending time with her family. Prior to his death, she and her husband enjoyed spending time at their camp in Tionesta, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Ronald J Pastor, who passed away on March 23, 2020, and her 3 older sisters: Mary Mayernik, Helen Crammer, and Irene Casper. She will be dearly missed by her children; sons Robert (Kathy) Pastor, and Daniel (Lisa) Pastor, and daughters, Rhonda (Patrick) Quinlan, Marianne (Tom) Simko, and Sherry (Kevin) Kozlowski. Grandchildren, Emily, Josh, Joseph, Anthony, Christine, Jennifer, Tommy, Drake, Grant, Michael, and Steven, and 11 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Jack (Evelyn) Pastor, nieces, and nephews. Paul C. Cmar, age 92, of Duquesne, passed away on November 23, 2021. Paul was born on March 18, 1929 in Hostetter, PA.  He was the son of John and Mary Cmar, graduating from Latrobe High School in 1947.  Paul was preceeded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Marie Yarosik, son Richard (Sherri), brothers and sisters-in-law Joseph (Mildred), John (Sally), Andrew (Gloria), and Francis (Orselena).  He is survived by three sons, Dennis (Janice), David (Tracy), and Robert (Patricia).   Paul and Marie had twelve grandchildren, Kristen (Daryl Hull), Lesleigh, Robert (Petya), Michael (Angela), Jeffrey (Hallie), Alexandria, David, Emily, Richard (Paige), Samantha, Nicholas, and Nicole.  Nine great-grandchildren include Teagan and Maggie Hull, Val, Liam, Kia, Oliver, Theodore, Lillian, and Penelope Cmar.  Paul was a member of the US Army, serving as a Military Police Officer in post World War II Germany.  Following his service, Paul joined the Duquesne City Police Department, where he rose to the rank of Chief of Police.  Upon retiring from the police force, he concluded his career by working in Security for US Steel and McKeesport Hospital.  Paul was a devoted member of the Fraternal Order of Police.  He served many years as a Board Member and later as Treasurer of FOP Lodge #91. He served as Secretary-Treasurer for the Third Class Cities Group of the Pennsylvania FOP and was elected in 1979 as Pennsylvania’s Representative to the FOP’s National Board of Trustees.  He was a Life Member of the Allegheny County Chiefs of Police Association, a member of the Pennsylvania Retired Police Association, and a graduate of the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey, PA.  Paul was a Life Member of VFW Post #188 (Duquesne) and a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus #4210.   He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, where he served as an Usher and was a member of the Holy Trinity Men’s Club.  He was also a member of the Duquesne GBU, the Duquesne Croation Club, and the McKeesport 11th Ward Club.  Paul was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather to his family, who loved him dearly.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 27 and Sunday, November 28, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the WILLAIM S. SKOVRANKO MEMORIAL HOME, 828 Richford Street, Duquesne, 412-466-8555, where a Blessing Service will take place on Monday, November 29, 2021, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at Holy Trinity Church, West Mifflin, of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, with the Reverend Larry Adams as Principal Celebrant.  Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, West Mifflin, with Military Honors.  Please follow the COVID-19 safety guidelines and wear a mask if you are unvaccinated.

Arthur Pletchy, age 69, of Duquesne, died November 17, 2021, at home. Born March 28, 1952, he was the son of the late Michael and Dorothy (Johnson) Pletchy.
Art retired from LP Aero Plastics and worked at the former Homestead Mill in his younger days. He was a collector of antiques and had his own booth set up at the Lincoln Hwy Hub. Art loved to listen to his oldies records and was very fond of cats.
Art is survived by his daughter, Deanna (Aaron) Smoker; grandsons, Anthony Pletchy and Dylan (Emily Brink) Patchin; former wife, Laura (John Spudic) Kauffman; mother-in-law, Jerry Kauffman; cousin, Michelle Coffman, and Mrs. Dottie Black, and her family.
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday, November 28, 2021, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m in the funeral home chapel.

Angelo P. Sgroi, age 87 of Clairton, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 in the VA Hospital, Oakland.  Born January 27, 1934 in Clairton, he was the son of the late John & Vittoria (Polimeni) Sgroi.  A US Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Clare of Assisi Church, Angelo wore many hats in his lifetime but enjoyed driving truck over the road most of all.  He retired from GNC in his 70's, but continued driving occasionally for Uber & Lyft until recently.  He was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan, but more importantly a very generous and loving man whom everyone knew as "Uncle".  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Katie, Mary, James, Sam, John, Nick, Tony, Lou and Phillip, as well as several nieces and nephews.  His is survived by his Godchildren Angelia (Dusk Olson) Christina and Greg (Lisa) Nesterak, nieces, nephews; dear friends who loved him; and his faithful canine companion Edgar.

Albert "Red" Petrosky

Albert C. "Red" Petrosky, 92 of Glassport, passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 23, 2021 surrounded by his family.  He is the son of the late Anthony and Frances (Walkowski) Petrosky.  He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Eileen (Dillhoff) Petrosky; daughters Janet A. Petrosky and Eileen "Tina" (Joseph) Bruno; loving granddaughters Lauren (Connor) Devoe and Christine Bruno; longtime family friend Cynthia Baum; and many nieces and nephews.  A lifelong resident of Glassport and an employee of National Tube Company of McKeesport and US Steel Union.  Albert enlisted in the US Army in 1951; performing duties as a military police officer stationed in France during the  Korean War.  Honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal.  Returning to Glassport, Albert married Eileen and together raised 2 successful daughters.  Red could usually be found in Glassport, frequenting the stores, Glassport diner and the Donut Shop, while socializing with friends.  He loved outdoor activities, including fishing, hunting and long walks in the woods with his dogs.  He loved all animals, especially liked to feed the outside wild animals as well as inside animals in his home.  He loved watching professional sports, especially baseball and football.  After retiring from US Steel at age 55, with over 30 years, "Red" spent his retirement years taking care of family and friends, especially his granddaughters, often attending their sporting events while making sure everyone was well fed.  He was a former member of St. Cecelia Parish of Glassport presently St. Joachim and Anne Parish; where he loved to take the family to the fish fries and other church activities; a member of the PNA and the American Legion.  Friends received Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Sun. from 6 to 8.  A funeral mass will be held Mon. 10:00 am at Queen of the Rosary Church.  Interment following Calvary Cemetery, Port Vue, with military honors.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in Albert's name.

Robert Francis Reed, 83, of McKeesport, passed away on November 17, 2021 due to heart failure. He is survived by Doreena Elliott, his loving companion of 34 years, and three sons: Shawn (Karen) of Coraopolis, Scott (Jill) of West Newton, and Brad (Melissa) of Monongahela. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Hailee, Sean, Cody, Jessie, and Connor; and three great grandchildren: Sean, Owen, and Maddy. He was preceded in death by parents Francis “Bricky” Reed and Rosanne (Carr) Reed of McKeesport and wife Eileen (Lewis) Reed of Parkersburg, West Virginia. Bob was a 1956 graduate of McKeesport High School, and a member of the United States Air Force where he served in the Strategic Air Command as a military police officer from 1956-1962. His service to his country included appointments in Germany, England, Iceland and the United States. Following his military service he worked in security and machinery operations. He was a proud member of the American Legion, AMVETS, Hibernians, 11th Ward Club, and Sheriff’s Association. Throughout his life he maintained an interest in military and Irish history, woodcarving and drawing.

Dennis John McCarthy, 70, of North Huntingdon, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021. He was born May 28, 1951 in McKeesport and was the son of the late John F. and Fanica (Mihaljevic) McCarthy. He was a member of St. Agnes Church in North Huntingdon and was a retired teacher from the Norwin School District where he taught at the Elementary and Intermediate schools. He graduated from California State College and the University of Pittsburgh. He was a member of the National Educational Association and the 3FE Toyota Land Cruiser organization. Denny's most loved hobbies included camping with his family, traveling North America and Ireland, making home-cooked meals, working with his hands, and "pinching pennies but buying a Lexus." Arguably, his favorite pastime was stirring the pot and his ornery laugh will be missed by all his friends and family. Through all of his life he met many struggles but never let them hold him back.

Walter Donnell Holmes, 86, was born April 16, 1935 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Walter departed this life on November 16, 2021, at Transitions Healthcare, Irwin, PA.

He was the beloved son of the late Aaron Holmes and Theodoshia (Mitchell)  Everette.

In his early twenties, Walter served in the United States Army as a paratrooper. He married Paralee Cunningham and to this union four children were birthed.

Walter loved to travel, he was part of the Traveling Kings and Queens, Jolly 5 Campers and National African American RVers Association.

Walter was a longtime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. His life was an example of Matthew 25:21 “Well done good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things; I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of the Lord.” Walter was a Deacon. He was on Noah’s Ark Board of Directors. He also served as Youth Church Leader and sung with the Gospel Choir.
