Helen Lowney, age 99 of Parma, OH and formerly of McKeesport, passed away at home on Saturday, November 21, 2020. Born February 24, 1921 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Steve and Amanda (Jandrillic) Mihalevic. In her spare time, Helen loved to craft, solve word search puzzles, but, most of all, spent time with her adoring family. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Albert F. Lowney, who passed away December 11, 1992, and her brothers Joseph and John Mihalevic. Helen is survived by her children Stephen Lowney of Berea, OH, Joseph M. (Lisa) Lowney of Louisville, OH, and Alberta Lowney of Parma; her grandchildren Amanda Jean Lowney, Amanda Frances Parsons, and Alesha Gershan; and her great-grandchildren Winslow Catherine Parsons and Audrey Gershan.

Alfred L. Cadena, age 83 of Clairton, passed away at home on Sunday, November 22, 2020. Born October 3, 1937 in Clairton, he was a son of the late Alfred and Emma (Hrvacic) Cadena. A former Pennsylvania National Guardsman and member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish (the former St. Joseph's Church, Clairton), Alfred worked for many years in buildings and facilities department at US Steel - Clairton Works. He had an extreme fondness for cars, whether it be their repair, collection, or even the die-cast models. He had a passion for westerns, classic country music, and old time television, especially Perry Mason and Gunsmoke. Alfred was a handy person who was always available, and happy, to help. But most importantly, his family will remember his as a generous soul who dearly loved his family. Besides his parents, Alfred was preceded in death by his sisters Emma (John) Berchok and Lillian (the late Lewis) Martini. He is survived by his sister Bernadette (the late Sylvester) Mazza; his nieces and nephews Michele Mazza, Jeffrey (Megan) Mazza, Brian (Gwen) Berchok, Jacqueline E. (Joe) Ciotti Herrle, Mark (Sally) Martini, and Lisa (Bryan) Smith; and his great-nieces-and-nephews Brian, Jocelyn, Olivia, Madeline, Lilliana, and James.

Helen Ferketic, age 94 of Greenock, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020 in Gilchrist Center Hospice in Towson, MD. Born January 17, 1926 in Versailles, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Amelia (Skobar) Frketic. A member of St. Michael's Parish in Elizabeth Twp. and the CFU Lodge #146 of Versailles, Helen worked at the McKee Stewart Co. for 35 years and with Ruben Furniture for 27 years. She is survived by her sister Betty Oeler of Towson, MD, nieces Kathleen Fagan and Karla Oeler, and nephew Robert Fagan. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Kathryn Fagan.

She joins her husband, the late Glenn Ziemke, who passed away in 1978. Betty is survived by her children Lisa Ziemke, with whom she resided, Brian (Alicia) Ziemke of Mt. Vernon, and Glenn Ziemke of Vermont; her grandchildren Payton, Seth, Briana, and Benjamin Ziemke; and her sister Barbara (John) Maisch of Belle Vernon. Anna Charney, age 88 of Clairton, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020 in Jefferson Hospital. Born February 23, 1932 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Estock. A former clerk at the US Post Office in Clairton, Anna was member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Clare Church, where she sang in the choir, and a former member of Ascension of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church, where she helped with bingo and event scheduling. She was an active member of the Croatian Fraternal union lodges in Clairton and Versailles and both taught and participated in adult Tamburitzan classes in the area. She also was a member of the Clairton Anglers Club and maintained a cabin there. Besides her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband John Charney and siblings John, Michael, Mary, and Joseph Estock. She is survived by her children Lee Ann (Richard) Yaga of Glassport and Daniel and John Charney of Clairton; her sisters Margaret Tomasello of Clairton and Helen Hampson of Elizabeth; and also many nieces and nephews.

Born May 29, 1928 in Clairton, he was a son of the late Biaggio and Rosina (Nuoto) DeSimone. The former owner of DeSimone Fruit Market and DeSimone Hauling , Victor also spent twenty-three years as a watchman for Allegheny County. A sergeant during the Korean War in the US Army, he was a member of the American Legion Daniel Keffer Post #75 in Clairton. Harry J. "Nick" Manning, age 76 of North Huntingdon, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020 in Forbes Hospital, Monroeville, surrounded by his wife and children. Born May 11, 1944 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Harry and Dorothy (Oatman) Manning and brother of the late Rose Kalkbrenner and Patricia Manning. From 1967 to 1970, Harry served as a sergeant in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam War, earning six honorable medals, two Letters of Appreciation, a Meritorious Unit Citation, and a Combat Action Ribbon. Harry was employed as a craneman at Tygart Steel in Versailles, but he dedicated his life to his home and family. On October 20, 1970, Harry married his wife Christine (Bach) Manning and, in October, they celebrated fifty wonderful years of marriage. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children Joseph (Shelly) Manning of McKeesport, Timothy (Debbie) Manning of Coulter, Terrance (Ggee) Manning of Versailles, Allison (John) Shipley of White Oak, Jennifer Carper of Coulter, and Nicholas (Jody) Manning of Rilton; his thirteen grandchildren Nicole, Lindsay, Joey, Taylor, Talia, Christopher, Terrance, Johnny, Nicholas, Dylan, Christina, Hunter, and Melanie; his fifteen great-grandchildren; and also many nieces and nephews. Words cannot describe or measure how much he was admired, loved, and deeply respected by all who knew him. He was a giant man with an even bigger heart, and he will always be a hero to his loved ones.

A graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School, he was a standout running back known as Stan the Bread and Butter Man. He also played football at California University of Pennsylvania. He enjoyed hunting and fishing at his camp in Kane. Born December 25, 1942 in Elizabeth Twp., he was a son of Helen (Sislo) Urbanovich of Elizabeth and the late Stanley A. Urbanovich.
