Tai 'Mir Maurice Malloy-Davidson

Tai 'Mir Maurice Malloy-Davidson, age 2, of Glassport, Pennsylvania, affectionately known as Nunny Bookie, Baby Tru, Baby Man, Tater Tot, Baby Tai, and Two-Step was born November 3, 2020, at 1:48 pm at UPMC Magee Women’s Hospital, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was the beloved son of Tai 'Mir Young-Davidson and Aniya Malloy.

Tai 'Mir departed this life peacefully surrounded by his loving family at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, on August 10, 2023.

Tai 'Mir loved to sing, Cocomelon, and Dinosaurs. He sang more than he talked! “Thoughts that he may have been singing with the angels” He learned how to count from 1-20 and he knew his ABCs too. He loved walking around playing with the remote control and he controlled ALL the TVs in the house! He brought so much joy & happiness into all our lives and everyone he encountered. Although his time with us was brief, Tai 'Mir will always and forever be in our hearts and minds.

Nina Akins Johnson

Nina Akins Johnson, 79, of McKeesport, was born January 15, 1944, in Duquesne, PA. She was the beloved daughter to the late Virgil and Katie Sommers Akins. Nina departed this life on August 9, 2023, peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones.

Nina attended school in the Duquesne City School District. After graduating she later enrolled in CCAC and received her associate's degree in child development. Nina loved working with children and used her education to become a teacher at the rec center in Crawford Village in McKeesport PA.

She was a second “mom” to so many children and she loved her role and enjoyed teaching them every day. She was also employed with the Louise Child Care Program and the Outreach Center at the YMCA in McKeesport, PA. She loved spending time with her family. One fond memory was her traveling with her children to Las Vegas. A family trip they will always cherish.

DeVon Anthony Alexander

DeVon Anthony Alexander, 33, of Coraopolis, was born September 8, 1989, in McKeesport, PA. He was the beloved son of Paul and the late Aurelia (Foster) Alexander.

DeVon grew up in McKeesport and was the youngest of five siblings. He attended and graduated from McKeesport High School. After graduation, he furthered his education at Point Park University and received a bachelor’s degree in business management. He was a Basketball Coach and a Small Business Owner, currently owning a Game Room and previously owned a Salon & Barber Shop.

Devon was highly ranked in basketball in both high school and college. He loved basketball. He loved playing basketball, watching basketball, and helping kids perfect their basketball skills. He has coached hundreds of youths including traveling teams with DAP2KK that traveled around the country to compete against the best of the best. He was still actively playing in several local leagues, including No Smoke in Pittsburgh.

Nigel Christopher Wayne Hogan, 33, of Braddock, was born October 22, 1989, in Greensburg, PA. He was the beloved son of the late Natalie Carol Hogan and stepson to James Bailey.

Nigel attended school at Gateway High School. He was the oldest of four siblings, James Hogan, Jared Harris, and Stevin German.

Nigel liked to make people laugh and had a good sense of humor. He always reached out to family, though dispersed, and worked to keep our ties strong. He was the hub of our wheel and kept up our tabs all around.

Julia Ann (Greene) Pratt, 84, of McKeesport, departed this life peacefully at 1:15 A.M. on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 5, 1938, in Smithdale, PA.  Beloved daughter of the late Augustus Greene Sr., and Bessie (Jones) Greene, she was raised with five other siblings—Addie, Alise, Augustus (Gus), Evelyn, and Betty Elaine (Laney). Julia was affectionately nicknamed “Bootsie” by her big sister, Alise.  She was affectionately known by this nickname her whole life.

Julia married the love of her life, Stanford R. Pratt, Sr., on June 30, 1956. He lovingly referred to his young bride as “Boots.”  Julia was a stay-at-home mother for many years while raising her seven children.  This gave her the opportunity to be involved in many facets of their school life – a member of the PTA and a homeroom mother. She enjoyed attending her children’s sports, choral concerts, vocational, and other extracurricular activities.  Julia eventually became employed as a home health aide—a career she thoroughly enjoyed. She also served at McKeesport Area School District as a lunch aide, working in this capacity for over 10 years.  She was a true advocate for the students while there.

Anita Marie Millner affectionately known as “Candy” 68, was born October 27, 1954, in McKeesport, PA. Departed this life on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Jefferson Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin R. Millner, parents; father, Frederick U. Dreher, mother, Loretta (Harris) Dreher, brothers, Frederick Dreher, Jr., Ronald Dreher, Joseph Gieger, and nephew, Frederick Dreher III. 

Anita attended school at Clairton School District.  She was employed at Busy Beaver and Hercules. She was a Paraprofessional at Clairton Education Center for over a decade. Candy was the eldest daughter of 8 siblings and was a wonderful mother to Balle and an excellent big sister. She loved arts and crafts and taking care of her many flowers, especially her succulent plants. She loved to laugh, read, and watch Asian movies and tv shows. But one of her favorite things to do was to have movie nights with Balle in her room.

Sarah Louise Beatty, 83, of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania was born March 8, 1940, in Whiteville, North Carolina. She was the beloved daughter of the late William and Lizzie Brice Demery.   

Sarah attended Artesia High School in Hall Borough, North Carolina. She moved to Duquesne, Pennsylvania with her siblings after her mother passed away. She was employed at several jobs and has various positions. Columbus Clean Right Cleaners as a (Presser), J F Kennedy School (Lunch Aide), United States Steel Mill (Bricklayer), Glenshaw Nursing Home, (Nurse's Aide) and the last job she held for many years as a Childcare Worker.

She loved her family and enjoyed riding to Sam’s Club and Costco, traveling to the casino was something she and her sisters enjoyed doing together. She loved to cook when she could. She did not have a special preference for what she ate. But she did not care for String Beans, Mushrooms, or Velveeta cheese.

She enjoyed being outside and disliked being alone. She loved visiting with her family. Sarah would go to her daughters, granddaughters, and cousins, homes when she could and enjoyed sitting on their porches. Also, she loved taking care of her grandkids, or anyone's kids that asked. Everyone that knew our mom called her "Gram."  

She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church for many years in Duquesne PA. She was faithful in mailing in her tithes, and when she got sick and was unable to attend church.

Cynthia Annette Moore

Cynthia Annette Moore, 61, of White Oak died May 15, 2023. Daughter of the late John Willie and Laverne Smith Moore, Jr., she began her earthly journey on April 21, 1962. 

Cindy accepted Christ as her personal Savior in her youth.  She was a member of the Gethsemane Church of God In Christ and was known for her hospitality and willingness to help where needed.

Cindy was a 2006 graduate of California University's MSW program and was a practicing social worker all her life!  She was employed at the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank for twenty years and worked tirelessly to support the efforts of the organization to alleviate the impact of hunger throughout Southwestern PA in her role there as Chief Outreach Officer.

Elizabeth "Liz" (Womack) Johnson

Elizabeth (Womack) “Liz” Johnson, born May 31, 1947, entered her heavenly home, April 15, 2023. She was preceded in death by her loving parents Lydia (Richards) and Walter Lee Womack, adored brother Walter E. Womack, beloved daughter, Tiffany Nicole Johnson, and endeared nephew Marvin Womack.

Liz was raised in Rankin, PA and in 1998 moved to McKeesport where she was an active member of the community. In September of 2012 Liz began a thirty-year career at General Motors/Fisher Body BOC, where she worked in various positions, from janitorial, to fork lift driver, assembly line worker, to welder. Her greatest joy came when her skills were recognized and awarded with a promotion to Team Leader. After retiring from General Motors Liz decided to return to work and gained employment with the McKeesport Area School District as a Security Officer. She was a longstanding member of St. Paul AME Church and diligently served on the Missionary, Steward, Usher, and Trustee Boards, at various times throughout her membership. She also served as a nurse and on the hospitality committee. Liz loved to sing and expressed her love of gospel music by singing in the Ben Harris, Gospel, and Mass Choirs. She was an avid reader of the Bible and participated in various Bible Studies.

Ella Mae Jones

Ella Mae Jones, 81, also known as Noogie of Duquesne, was born on April 3, 1941, in Robeson County, NC.  She was the beloved daughter to the late Charles and Queenella (Mclean) Hopes.

Ella graduated from McKeesport High School.  She was the 2nd oldest of 7 children, whom she loved dearly.  Ella loved being with family and would attend every family function just so she could be around those she loved.  Ella also was known to tell it how it was, she didn’t sugarcoat anything, so if you were around her you better have tough skin and virgin ears. 

Ella was a very generous individual. If she had it, you had it.  Ella was crazy about her sons and grandchildren.  She would make sure that she was at every sporting event, birthday parties, and graduations.  Being a single mom, she knew that she had to be both mom and dad for her sons, John and Paul. She would work various jobs such as Secretarial work for the Steel Mill, Federal Government, and in her later years Hills and Ames Department Store.

Rhonda Yvonne Cash

Rhonda Yvonne Cash, 62, of McKeesport, PA departed this life Thursday, March 16, 2023 while resting peacefully at her daughter’s home. She was born July 29, 1960, in McKeesport, PA. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Clara Cash.

Rhonda was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church since a young child, she also sang in the choir. She was a former member of McKea Temple #322. After the sudden death of her kids father Rudy, Rhonda was a stay at home mother for many years until she became employed at Phar-Mor. She worked there until the store closed. When she wasn’t working, she was cooking, spending time with her children and grandchildren; or she was at her second home Bingo. If you knew Rhonda, then you know she never bit her tongue for nobody. She didn’t play when it came to her kids, grandkids or her family. When they called, she came running with no questions asked. There was never a dull moment around her; even when she was fighting Cancer, she still cracked her jokes and talked her mess. Her smile, unique laugh, sassiness, and most of all, her love will be missed by many.

Larry Smith, 68, was born and raised in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. He was the beloved son of the late Edward and Willie Lou Lewis. Larry entered this world on November 17, 1954, and peacefully departed this life on March 16, 2023.

Larry graduated from South High School. He retired in 2017, after being a Guard Attendant. Larry loved dancing and singing karaoke. He had an infectious smile; you can see him smiling all of the time.  Larry attended St. Luke Baptist church where he was on the Usher Board. He loved his family and friends, especially his aunt Caroline Spears; he just called her (aunt). He loved his aunt Linda Blake; she called him Bub. He also loved his uncle Al Smith, they were best friends. Not to mention, his nieces and nephews were his worlds.
