Clara C. (Landsperger) Wright, 90, of North Huntingdon, died Saturday March 18, 2023. She was born August 17, 1932 in Greensburg, a daughter of the late William Kenneth and Daisy (Miller) Landsperger and was also preceded in death by her husband Joseph R. Wright; her children Joseph R. Wight, William Wright, and Mary “Chink” Wright; a grandson Joseph R. Wright; and siblings Walter, Clarence, Albert, and Robert Landsperger. She is survived by her grandchildren Shayne Paul, Mercedes Wolfe, and Jaime (Alyssa) Wright; great grandchildren Jaimeson Joseph Wright, Addison Vasilko, Aubrey Paul and Madison Husar; a sister Myrtle “Honey” Wright; also nieces and nephews. At Clara’s request there will be no viewing or services. Private interment was in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park. The William Snyder Funeral Home, Irwin, handled arrangements. Dwight LeRoy Hackett, 76, of Murrysville, went on to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday March 17, 2023 due to multiple health complications. He was a much loved musician, composer, arranger, pianist, teacher, and choir director.
He grew up in McKeesport and resided in Murrysville. He taught choral music at Norwin School District from 1969-1978 and at East Allegheny School district from 1990-2008 where he directed a few musicals. He was Minister of Music at Christian Fellowship Center/Living Waters Congregational Church from 1978-2020. He co-founded SyntheSound Studio a music recording studio instructing and producing there from 1978-1990. Dwight played French horn early in his career as an extra with the Pittsburgh Symphony and later as a freelance musician and also played with the Westmoreland Symphony which is where he met his wife Jan.
He taught privately, after retiring from teaching, at the Music Room in Irwin from 2009-2016 and at the I Am Music Academy as co-owner with his wife from 2009-2023. He taught piano-jazz and french horn. Dwight loved his farm, motorcycles, and sports cars.

Alberta (Kwolkoski) Landstrom, 88, of Dunwoody, GA, formerly of East McKeesport, died Thursday March 9, 2023. She was born December 14, 1934 in East McKeesport, a daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Lokay) Kwolkoski and was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Duane P. Landstrom. She was a graduate of East McKeesport High School and employed by Westinghouse Electric Corporation. She was an avid fan of sports, especially of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins. She is survived by her son Robert Landstrom and his wife Gena of Decatur, GA; her grandchildren Juergie (Erica) Landstrom, Broedy Landstrom, and Tyler Trosclair; her siblings Joseph (Suzie) Kwolkoski of Clemmons NC, Yvonne (Bill) Waldron of Jeannette, and Jack (Barb) Kwolkoski of Glendale, AZ; also numerous nieces and nephews.

G. Elaine (Lemon) Shoaf, 92, of Irwin, passed away Friday, March 10, 2023. She was born March 7, 1931 in McKeesport, a daughter of the late Elmer G. and Gertrude V. (Davis) Lemon and was also preceded in death by her brother and sister in-law George and Sylvia Lemon, and brother in-law Bill Lawson.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Irwin, Order of the Eastern Star. She was employed by Lutheran Social Services and was retired from Airtek. Elaine loved being a grandmother, enjoyed making Raggedy Ann Dolls, and she was a pet lover with a special fondness for dogs.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years J. Wayne Shoaf; children Cynthia (Mel) Veverka of North Huntingdon and Jim (Kathy) Shoaf of Greensburg; grandchildren Caitlin (Nikolas) Janin, Kylie Hunter (Morgan Cross), Lauren (Mike) Goodlin, Emily (Brad) Whigham, and Matthew (Kristin) Shoaf; great grandchildren Siena, Stella, Colton, Dustin, Benson, Easton, Connor, and Everette; sister Mary Ellen Lawson of North Carolina; and nieces and nephews.

Paul William Kerber, of North Huntingdon, passed away March 7, 2023. He was the beloved husband of 30 years to Lauretta (Horvat) Kerber; loving father of Paul J. Kerber, Philip Kerber, Sandy (Kerber) Coyne, Brenda (Mitch) Radella, and Donna Marie Kerber; proud grandfather of Katlyn (Morris) Lawson; brother of Ann (Jack) McWilliams, Walter “Dusty” (Karen) Kerber, Katie (the late Richard) Forsythe and Joseph (Kathleen) Kerber; brother-in-law of Catherine Kalas, Stephen (Sheri) Horvat, and Kathy Kerber; son-in-law of Margaret Horvat; and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Paul was born May 15, 1940 in McKeesport, a son of the late Edward and Alvina (Hornfeck) Kerber and was also preceded in death by siblings Edward Kerber, Mary (the late John) Thornton, Raymond Kerber; two favorite aunts Mary Catherine Kerber and Mary “Minnie” Swartz; and his loyal bichon companion Maxine.
Paul lived his early years playing and working on the Kerber family farm which is now known as Kerber Dairy. Paul was the retired President and CEO of Kerber Landscaping, a successful commercial landscaping company located in Manor, PA. He was well-known for his hard work and dedication to his business throughout the tri-state area. His work ethic was the best of the best with that old school attitude. His famous saying was, “not bad for a poor farmer”. He could also often be seen from 1st Street, in his yard, cutting the grass on his tractor or hitting golf balls while wearing his baseball cap.

Margaret Louise (Stinson) Dennis, age 68, joined the Church Triumphant on February 27, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer due to Lynch Syndrome Disease. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kathryn Elizabeth (Wallace) and Lee Harris Stinson of Madisonburg, Ohio. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, the Rev. Eric E. Dennis and their sons, the Rev. Dr. Scott Dennis and Andrew J. Dennis. She is also survived by numerous relatives across the United States and Scotland.
Margaret graduated the top of her class from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, the University of Cincinnati, where she was certified in both vocal and instrumental music specializing in the Bassoon. Later she earned a MMEd Degree at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, Illinois with continuing summer education classed at Villa Nova University in Eastern Pennsylvania.
Margaret played in a number of professional instrumental ensembles including the Ohio Light Opera Orchestra and the Lima Symphony Orchestra. She taught vocal and instrumental music in Ohio and Pennsylvania for a total of 44 years, having retired from the Elizabeth Forward School District in 2020.
Margaret was a loving mother and wife, who enjoyed making music, cooking, baking, painting, playing games and spending her free time with her family at their home. She was playful, charming and had a wonderful sense of humor. Margaret will be deeply and sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Herman “D.J.” H. Geiger IV, age 33, or Wilmerding, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 6, 2023. He was born December 30, 1989 in Monroeville, a son of Herman Geiger III and Andrea “Andi” (John) Dusak.

Sara J. (Miller) Haney Zezza, age 87, of Westmoreland City, formerly of Monroeville, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023. She was born August 8, 1935 in McKeesport, a daughter of the late John and Bertha Miller. Sara was a member of the Ardara Evangelical Presbyterian Church and loved crocheting, cross stitching, reading and playing the piano and organ. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 26 years at Forbes Hospital.

Louis J. Knapp, 93, of North Versailles, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023. He was born March 10, 1929 in North Braddock a son of the late Louis W. and Mary (Vercelli) Knapp. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife of 67 years Dolores J. Knapp, and brother William Knapp. Louis was a Navy veteran and a member of Plum Creek Masonic Lodge #799. He was an outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at his camp. He loved his family and spending time with them was important to him. Louis is survived by his children Linda L. (Domenico) DeMarco and Dean A. Paul J. Bittner, 88, of North Huntingdon, died at home Tuesday, September 13, 2022. He was born July 13, 1934 in Meyersdale, a son of the late James and Rosella (Steinley) Bittner. He was a retired dispatcher for CSX Corporation and a member of First United Methodist Church, Irwin. He enjoyed his grandchildren and attended many of their baseball and softball games. He loved to garden and liked to fish.

Throughout her career Betsy worked in costume design at Pocono Playhouse, was a manager at JoAnn Fabric and Crafts for many years, worked as an interior design consultant for Lowes, and currently worked as a job developer for Educational Data Systems Inc., Pittsburgh.

Joseph A. Vislay Jr., 71, of East McKeesport, died Saturday August 27, 2022. He was born October 30, 1950 in Homestead and raised in West Mifflin, the son of the late Joseph A. and Florence (Remas) Vislay. He was a proud Navy Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict serving 6 years of active duty and 2 years reserve duty. He was a member of Praise Assembly of God Church, North Versailles, where he was an active prayer warrior. He was also a very active support person and mentor. He was a loving father, husband and grandfather and was so proud of and adored his family. He loved to read and study history and enjoyed the History and Smithsonian Channels. Joe retired from Three Rivers Pharmaceuticals, Cranberry Township and then worked for Avenna Healthcare.
