Winona Bintrim Olah, 91, formerly of McKeesport, Port Vue, North Huntingdon, and Vernon Township, Pennsylvania, passed away on December 25th, 2023, at Rolling Fields Elder Care in Conneautville, Pennsylvania.
She was born on May 30, 1932, in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She was the only daughter of Wilber Edward and Mabel Eliza Bintrim Porter. After having lived in several different Western Pennsylvania locations, she and her family settled in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. She graduated from McKeesport High School in 1950. After graduation, she began working for G.C. Murphy’s Company as a salesclerk in the local McKeesport store.
Winona eventually worked her way up to working as a bookkeeper in the Merchandise Control Office of the company’s headquarters, which was also located in McKeesport. She married her husband, Donald Endre’ Olah, in 1952, and they resided for a time in Port Vue, PA. In 1964 the family moved to North Huntingdon Township. Winona was very involved with church activities. She was a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she served in many different leadership positions, including the Administrative Council and the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee. She was instrumental in many fundraising activities.

Bruce L. Shields, 57, of Duquesne passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at home. Born in McKeesport on February 19, 1966. he was the son of the late George R. and Pauline (Hrizo) Shields. Mr. Shields was a former clerk for Monzak's Service Center and a former employee at the Village Shop and Save. He is survived by a sister, Toni (Late Randy Vranick) Shields , a brother, Jon Shields, an aunt, Clara Massropian and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shields was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Steven "Iggy" Shields and Gregory "Flash" Shields
Per Mr. Shields request, there will be no visitation or services. Arrangements are entrusted to the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home Inc., 828 Richford Street, Duquesne.

Anna Cecilia (Ballough) Carek, 83, of Dravosburg, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, peacefully at home. Born in Duquesne, August 11, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Budia) Ballough. Mrs. Carek was a member of St. Joseph Church of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish. Mrs. Carek was a retired manager for Century Square Shop-N-Save, West Mifflin. Beloved wife of the late Edward Carek, she is survived by her loving son, Edward and his wife Hope Carek and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Ann Carek, and six brothers, James, Bernard, Michael, Charles, Arthur and Phillip Ballough.
Family and friends will be received in the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home, Inc., 828 Richford Street, Duquesne, PA. on Saturday, December 30 from 2P.M. until time of Blessing Service at 6 P.M. with Rev. Dan D'Antonio officiating. Private burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Mifflin.

Margaret Ellen Wineman Fullerton, 86, of North Huntingdon, died December 25, 2023. She was born September 8, 1937, in Greensburg, the youngest child of the late Harry E. and Margaret J. Pyle Wineman. Prior to her retirement, Margaret was employed as a registered nurse at Redstone Highlands and was a former co-owner of ABC Cleaners, Norwin Towne Square. She was a graduate of Greensburg High, Class of 1955 and Westmoreland Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1958. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Jacob W. (Mary Lou Black, surviving) and H. Frederick (Shirley Crusan) Wineman and sister, Jean P. Wineman. Margaret is remembered with love by brother George E. (Barbara Crusan), sons William D. (Charlene Siems) and Richard A. Fullerton (Lisa Orsino), grandchildren Cody R. and Leah N. (William E. Thomas) Fullerton, daughter Vicki A. DiIoia (Anthony), grandchildren Bailey A. (Erica Johnson), Elijah L., Kalia Re, Rowan P. DiIoia, great grandchildren Amelia M., and Saila D. DiIoia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. There will be no public visitation. Earl “Huck” Wesley Howard Sr., age 77, of Irwin, formerly of East McKeesport, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Janice P. Howard; children Earl “Wes” (Nicole) Howard Jr., Tracy (Brian) Drotar, Jennifer (Mike) Smith and Jamie (Jack) Garbutt; grandchildren Joshua (Rachael), Sean, Nick, Stefan, Autumn and Amelia; great-grandchildren Kady, Cali and Aniyla; brother Robert “Butch” Howard Jr.; and sisters Florence Schultz and Eileen (George) Skiles. Huck honorably served his country while enlisted in the Navy. He was known for his ever beaming smile and generous spirit that would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Huck’s family meant the world to him and he delighted at every family gathering. Huck never met a car show he didn’t like. His passion for antique cars was unmatched and one could see his enjoyment as he proudly drove his 1936 International pickup on a daily basis. Huck loved blue grass music and was always down for a grand ole “picking session”. Huck was formerly employed at WABCO where he developed and maintained lasting friendships. He retired from Square D where he worked as a field service technician. He always looked forward to his annual trips to Hershey, PA for the AACA Club International Car Show. His honorable and integritous personality will be missed by all who knew him, especially his family.

Brian K. Heyz I, 60, of North Huntingdon, died Monday December 25, 2023, at home. He was born December 21, 1963, in McKeesport, a son of the late Bert L. and Corrine (Dvorsky) Heyz. Brian was semi-retired from working in the construction industry as a union carpenter. He was a graduate of Norwin High School, Class of 1982 and was a member of Shidle Lodge, No. 601, Free and Accepted Masons, Irwin. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending hours in his garden, watching wildlife from his porch, and weekend trips riding his quad. He is survived by his wife Beth (Trout) Heyz; his sons Brian K. (Savannah) Heyz II of Texas and Brandon K. (Caitlin) Heyz of Georgia; step-son Jeremy Waugaman; grandchildren Nova, Maddox, Tyler, and Brody; a brother Russell “Russ” Heyz of North Huntingdon; a sister Donnell (Tad) Minerva and niece Corrine of Jeannette; his mother-in law, Mary Trout; and other numerous nieces and nephews.

Eileen Komyanik, 65, of North Versailles, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023. She was born in McKeesport on October 3, 1958 and was the daughter to the late Michael A. and Genevieve L. (Callahan) Komyanik. Eileen worked many years as an Electrical Engineer for Carnegie Science Center, and worked on numerous projects throughout the building. She is survived by her siblings, Tony Ryan of Port Vue, Linda Komyanik of Whitaker, and Joyce Myers of Pittsburgh; her domestic partner, Valerie Tunney of North Versailles; and nieces, Tania Komyanik, and Lisa & Dawn Myers. In addition to her parents, Eileen is preceded in death by her brother, Terry S. Komyanik, who passed away in 2020. There is no visitation. Craig Allen Kovac, age 65, of McKeesport, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023, at UPMC McKeesport Hospital after an illness with cancer. He was born August 5, 1958, and was the son of Betty J. Samurda and the late Paul G. Kovac, Jr. He was previously employed by File Express and the Iron Mountain Corporation. Craig was an avid reader and enjoyed model Lionel Trains, football, hockey, retro television programs, and the History Channel. Craig and his son C.J. were skilled drummers who enjoyed classic rock such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. He loved watching his son play. He had a kind and generous heart. He will be deeply missed.

Thomas J. Regester, age 82 of North Huntingdon died December 25, 2023 at Walden's View, North Huntingdon. He was born June 18, 1941 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Joseph and Anna Elizabeth "Betty" Hahn. Thomas was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and was an avid outdoorsman. He was an Eagle Scout and remained active in scouting with Penn's Woods Troop 250 for many years. Prior to his retirement, Thomas was employed as a computer operator by Shadyside Hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S Air Force. Thomas was preceded in death by his sister, Judith Richardson. He is survived by his wife Peggy Barry Regester, two sons, Thomas Jr. (Ellie), Robert Regester (Jennifer), one daughter, Margaret Nicholes, six grandchildren, Kaitlin Diehl (Howard), Mia Nicholes, Hannah Regester, Victoria (Tori) Nicholes, Kylie Regester, and William Regester and two great grandchildren, Emily and Wyatt Diehl.
