Kathryn "Katie" Scalzitti, age 56, of North Huntingdon, went to meet Jesus December 22, 2020, at home. Born October 9, 1964, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd "Bud" and Jane (Quinn) Johnston and the wife of the late Terry Scalzitti.

Katie was an X-ray Technician in her early years. She worked at her brother's auto dealerships and was a co-owner of Terry's Auto Glass and Hempfield Motors. Katie was also a proven interior designer.  Katie enjoyed traveling, attending bible study, and spoiling her numerous nieces and nephews. She had the most wonderful sense of humor and was a very giving person to all she knew. Katie loved all animals and adored her cat, "Taz," along with all her other pets that have preceded her in death and crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

Katie is survived by her twin brother, Dan Johnston, her loving sisters, Patty (Tom) Ziegler, Pam, MaryEllen, Sandy, and Elizabeth.

Norma P. Whitmore, 64, of Duquesne, died Dec. 31, 2020.  She is survived by her beloved husband Keith Whitmore, daughters Sharome Urbano and Madonna Williams and grandchildren Cassie, Dominic, Jarelle and Jaden.  Norma was a unit clerk for Kane Regional Center, UPMC Childrens and UPMC Presbyterian.  She was a member of St. Agnes Church and the Philippines Society of America.  Friends received Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne, on Thurs. from 2-4 and 6-8.  A funeral mass will be held Fri. 10:00 am at St. Agnes Church, West Mifflin.  A private interment will be held Monday at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

Maryann Daniels, 65, of North Huntingdon, passed away Friday, January 1, 2021.  She was born October 21, 1955 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Delbert L. and Dorothy M. (Wiggins) Singler.  She was also preceded in death by her brother, Delbert L. Singler who was killed in action while serving in Vietnam and brother David J. Singler.  Before her retirement, Maryann worked as a First Student Bus Driver and a Hillcrest Middle School cafeteria worker for 25+ years.  She often talked about all the children that she served and took such pride in her job.

Alfred J. Savage, Jr., age 79, of Irwin, died January 2, 2021, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. Born November 5, 1941, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Alfred J., Sr., and Leona Mae (Daugherty) Savage and the husband of Roberta (McClellan) Savage for over 59 years.

Alfred retired from Bill Fiore Trucking, where he was a truck driver. He was also a volunteer at the former Industry, PA Volunteer Fire Department, where he was the fire chief. Alfred enjoyed woodworking, puzzles, fishing, and hunting in his early years.

Ruhe, 79, of North Huntingdon, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital.  He was born February 14, 1941 in Duquesne, son of the late Joseph and Wilda (Forbes) Ruhe.  Prior to his retirement, Donald was a foreman for US Steel and later drove for First Student Bus Co.  for 20 years. 

He was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Viet Nam War, a member of St. Agnes and Immaculate Conception Church and was past Sergeant at Arms for Larimer VFD.  He enjoyed landscaping, golfing, hunting, fishing and loved spending time with his family.

Sr. Rosemary Horvath, age 82 of the Sisters of the Divine Redeemer, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 in the Motherhouse Chapel. 

Born April 19, 1931 in Cleveland, OH, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Cinal) Horvath.  A fifty-one year member of the Sisters of the Divine Redeemer Order, Sr. Rosemary received her parish social minister certification and was a licensed nursing home administrator. 

She worked in the business office and in data processing at the Divine Redeemer Memorial Hospital, administrator of the Little Flower Manor Nursing Home, social minister of St. Bartholomew's Parish in Penn Hills and St. Anthony's Parish in Monongahela, and for nine years as Provincial Superior, then Regional Superior, for the Order. 

Sr. Rosemary was always interested and cared about the aged and ill; was a true people person; began the flea market at the Divine Redeemer Motherhouse and was responsible for the telephone volunteers at the Motherhouse.  She also enjoyed working with computers.  Sr. Rosemary is survived by her fellow Sisters of the Divine Redeemer and her nieces Debbie and Sandy Vasko.

Sandra B. Kresovich, 77, died Monday, December 28, 2020. Born in Fredricktown, PA on February 21, 1943, Sandy was the daughter of Daniel and Ann Ruth Battaglini and the devoted wife of the late John C. Kresovich.

Sandy attended California University of Pennsylvania where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Her career began as a third-grade teacher at Gotwall Elementary School in Wilmerding. Later she earned her Reading Specialist Certificate with her Master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and finished her 36-year teaching career with the East Allegheny School District as a 7th and 8th grade Reading teacher at both Park Terrace Middle School and East Allegheny Jr/Sr High School.

Upon her retirement in 1999, Sandy enjoyed traveling. She visited many countries in Europe, always returning to her favorite, Italy. At home, Sandy was a devoted member of Miller United Methodist Church and served on many committees. She also volunteered weekly at the East Allegheny Meals on Wheels.

Sandy will forever be remembered as a kind, caring and loving person who valued her family and her friendships. She loved following Pittsburgh sports teams and enjoyed sharing this love with her friends. Sandy’s wonderful sense of humor and beautiful smile will provide many cherished memories for those who loved her.

Dolores M. Moran, age 89, died Saturday morning, January 2, 2021, at Morrison Woods Health Center in Muncie, Indiana. She was born January 13, 1931 in North Braddock, the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Vjlacky) Duray, attended St. Michael Catholic School and graduated from Scott High School. She moved to Muncie in 1961 with her husband, Edward J. Moran, to whom she had been married 64 years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Women’s Association of the church. Surviving, besides her husband, are two sons, Thomas Moran (wife, Tracie) of Scranton, PA and Ronald Moran (wife, Diane) of Wyomissing, PA; three grandchildren, Kathryn, Claire and Audrey Moran. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Mary Lou Cherry. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 915 KENNEDY AVE., DUQUESNE, 15110, 412-466-3300, where a blessing service will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, West Mifflin, with the Rev. Robert Seeman officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, West Mifflin.

Hager, 74, of North Huntingdon, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital.  She was born January 23, 1946 in Greensburg, daughter of the late James and Marjorie (Furrer) Tray.  Prior to her retirement, Sherry was a deli manager for Giant Eagle, Pittsburgh and later became a Pepperidge Farm Distributor.  She enjoyed tending to her flowers in her garden, cooking, dancing, camping and spending time with her family.  She is survived by her husband, John C. Hager; daughters, Cindi Hager, Michele Nace and her husband, Philip; brother, James Tray; grandchildren, Brittany, Corey and Madison Nace, Emma Rose and Mitchell Pfeifer.  Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the James W. Aurora (Valt) DeVentura, age 94 of Clairton, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021 at Paramount Senior Living at Peters Township.  Born September 21, 1926 in Falcada, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Virgil and Eleana (DiBasio) Valt.  A member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Clare of Assisi Church in Clairton. Aurora was preceded in death by her husband Sisto DeVentura, to whom she was married to for 63 years.  She is survived by her children Lenore (Donald) Lasowecky of Aiken, SC, Jeanne (Steve Rude) Lopez of San Diego, CA, and Charles "Chuck" (Kristi) DeVentura of Peters Township; grandchildren Amanda Lasowecky, Matthew Petrovich, Angelica Martin, Joel Sarazin, and Dominick and Alyssa DeVentura; great-grandchildren Andrew and Ailana Petrovich; and brother Harris (the late Geraldine) Valt of White Oak. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter Denise Golling.

Mark "Elko" Kokayko, 67, of Glassport died Thursday December 31, 2020. He is the son of the late John and Ann (Korposh) Kokayko. He is survived by his daughter Trish (Nathan) Crawley; granddaughters Madison and Hailey; and brother Jack Kokayko. He was preceded in death by his sister Joanne Williamson. Mark previously worked at Beneficial Finance and Allegheny Intermediate unit, was a member of the Christian Men's Organization, an avid golfer, an usher at Corpus Christi Parish, and a member at numerous social organizations. Visitation will be private. A funeral mass will be held 11am Tuesday at Corpus Christi Parish, Mckeesport. Interment following St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Cemetery.
