Daniel J. Sowa, age 50 of Jefferson Hills, passed away at home on Monday, December 16, 2019. Born January 30, 1969 in Braddock, he was a son of the late Walter A. and Jacqueline (McCorkle) Sowa. A 1987 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics, Daniel worked for many years as an aircraft mechanic. He is survived by his brother David (Ann Marie) Sowa of Liberty Borough; his sister Stephanie Osselborn of West Mifflin; his stepchildren Carol Opfer of Elizabeth Twp. and Joyce (Jake) Bartlet of Kaukauna, WI; his grandchildren Daniel, Mikel, and Sarah; his nieces and nephews Emma Grace McGurk-Sowa, Keation and Cassandra McClelland, and C.J. Raymond; and his companion Karen Sowa.

Julia Sydoriak, age 95 of Clairton, passed away Monday, December 16, 2019. Born August 29, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Katherine (Bilak) Sydoriak and was employed for many years at Teper's Jewelers in Clairton. She was a member of Ascension of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church and was a former member of St. Anthony's Greek Orthodox Church, both in Clairton. Julia is survived by her sister Doris Sydoriak, her sister-in-law Lillian Sydoriak, and her niece Lilly Tintor. She was preceded in death by her siblings Mary, Stephen, and Nick Sydoriak.

Dolores J. Kolodziej, age 88 of McKeesport, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2019 in Kane Community Living Center in McKeesport. Born November 4, 1931 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Marion (Sorocko) Dwornick. A member of Corpus Christi Parish who also attended St. Patrick's Church, Dolores worked as a secretary in the warehouse office for G.C. Murphy & Co. in McKeesport. Her family will remember her giving heart and her many, many friends. Besides her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Kolodziej and her brothers Ray and Tom Dwornick. She is survived by her son Ronald J. Kolodziej of McKeesport; her sister Lorraine (Dwornick) Jesionowski of Versailles; and also numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces-and-nephews, and great-great-nieces-and-nephews.

JoAnn Eisele, age 83, of McKeesport, formally of North Versailles, died on December 13, 2019. She was born in Morgantown, WV on November 21, 1936 and is the daughter of the late Hobert and Opal McCartney Hennessey. She was a long-time member of Christy Park United Methodist Church where she enjoyed being a part of the choir, and a devoted member to the First Evangelical Free Church in McKeesport. JoAnn worked, with her late husband John, at the former Wiltshire Poultry Farm for several years.
She is survived by her loving son John W. (Pam) Eisele Jr. of McKeesport; loving grandchildren, Nadine Eisele, Erica and Angeline Bottger, Kelly Stanich and Kari Hurley; great grandchildren Austin, Max and Benjamin. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Bottger, siblings; Maxine (Steve) Bill, Marie (Jim) Smith and James (Martha) Hennessey.

Eileen G. Bekavac, age 84 of Clairton, passed away at home on Thursday, December 12, 2019. Born January 13, 1935 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Toth) Gaydos. A member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton, Eileen worked for many years at the Clairton Works FCU, retiring in 2000, and with Mike's Jewelry. She is survived by her sons A. Blaise (Constance) Bekavac of Edgewater, MD and Gregory T. Bekavac of Clairton; her grandchildren Chelsey and Christin; and also nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Eileen is preceded in death by her siblings Robert Gaydos and Eleanor M. Lowe.

Geracimos “Jerry” D. Hionis, age 88, of White Oak, fell asleep peacefully with the Lord on December 13, 2019 at home surrounded by his beloved family. He was born in Kefalonia, Greece on March 27, 1931 and is the son of the late Dennis and Theodora Yakoumatos Hionis. Although he endured poverty and war, the great earthquake of 1953 which destroyed most of the island, was the main reason he came to the United States for a better life. Jerry was employed at US Steel in Homestead and was a painter in his spare time. He has been a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in White Oak which he eagerly assisted many others in building the church. He was the life of the party, and was known for his zest for life, his generosity for helping others, sense of humor and a passion for hunting and his yearly trips to Greece.

Richard W. Baldridge, 85, of North Huntingdon, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. Richard was born on December 3, 1934 to the late William Ray and Leona (Ault) Baldridge of McKeesport. Richard was a U.S. Army veteran and he was a former employee of Papercraft of Jeannette and Blawnox. He was an avid model train collector, enjoyed watching his Pittsburgh sports teams on T.V., and spending time socializing with all of his neighborhood retired friends. He is survived by his former wife Karen Baldridge; his children Rick (Doreen) Baldridge, Scott Baldridge and companion Jeannie Sonnenberg, and Dennis Baldridge all of North Huntingdon; grandsons Rick and Chris Baldridge.

Dr. Harry K. Gillespie, retired pediatrician, age 94 of Irwin, passed away peacefully on Monday December 9, 2019. Loving father of seven children, Mary Ellen (Joseph) Ferragonio, James (Ana) Gillespie, David (Rose Mary) Gillespie, Charlotte (Charles) Fisher, Sarah (Eugene) Pile, Elizabeth (David) Haushalter, and Douglas (Heidi) Gillespie.
Caring grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle to numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and their families. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Troy and cousin Lucy (Joe) Russell. In addition to his wife Eleanor, Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Loretta, and siblings Richard, Philip Jr., and Susan Mormon.
A graduate of Central Catholic High School, a U.S. Navy veteran, and graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Dr. Gillespie was a longtime practicing pediatrician in Irwin and White Oak as well as at Jeannette and McKeesport hospitals, touching the lives of many patients and families over the length of his career.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Irwin, where he cantered mass and served as a member of the choir for many years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus #1480 Greensburg. Dr. Gillespie was ahead of his time when it came to enjoying the great outdoors, recycling, and doing his part in taking care of Mother Earth. He will be fondly remembered for his kindness, his steadfast faith, his gentle demeanor, maintaining an active lifestyle, and his ever-present sense of humor.

M. Shirley Pikula, age 87, of McKeesport, died December 9, 2019, at Riverside Care Center. Born June 18, 1932, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Ella (Jacobs) Zoltak and the wife of the late Joseph G. Pikula.
As a young woman, Shirley was one of the top models in the Pittsburgh area. She went on to teaching "Charm" classes to young women in the old Sears building, and retired from the J.C. Penney Company. Her biggest love was setting a table that was unmatched and providing a meal and a prayer that people who experienced it still speak of. She was a member of the Port Vue United Methodist Church.
