John Schmeltz, age 76, of Forward Twp., passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at home. An Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War, he was a maintenance worker, a Jack of all trades and a master of none, and a former bowling coach at Brunswick Lanes on Route 51.

Ronald C. Zubasic, age 57, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Excela Health Frick Hospital from injuries sustained in an accident. He was the owner of Ronald Zubasic Home Improvements in Elizabeth Twp. He enjoyed every aspect of the outdoors including camping, boating and sharing time with those he loved. His favorite entertainment was listening to the band The Real Deal. He was known to many as "the Bird Man" because of his pet parrots that accompanied him to many public events. Ron’s greatest assets were his kindness and generosity. He loved his dog and best friend, Buddy, who passed away with him.

Leslie H. Schumann, age 60, of Pittsburgh, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at UPMC Presbyterian. He was a caregiver for Gallagher Home Health Services in Pittsburgh. Born December 27, 1957 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Glenn H. and June (Davies) Schumann. He is survived by his wife of 10 1/2 years, Zimin Ren; son, Ethan Schumann of Pittsburgh; brothers, Glenn I. "Oz" (Elaine) Schumann of Elizabeth Twp. and Tim Schumann of Clairton; sister, Deborah (Michael) DePollo of Kingsport, TN; also, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be private. Joyce S. (Ghrist) Nagy, age 78, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at home. She was a member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Twp. She enjoyed cooking and gardening, taught ceramics, and loved crocheting blankets for family and friends. She was an avid supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the American Cancer Society.

William E. McCorkle Jr., age 78, of Dania Beach, FL passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at home. He was an emeritus professor of Physics and Astronomy after more than 33 years of teaching at West Liberty State College in West Liberty, WV. A former member of Elizabeth United Methodist Church, he was a graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School, Washington & Jefferson College and West Virginia University. He was a consultant for Prentice Hall Publishing Company and was twice recognized as an outstanding educator of America. He was a member of the American Association of Physics Teachers, American Institute of Physics, Delta Chi Social Fraternity, Chi Beta Phi, and AARP.

Frances (Homa) Gatto, age 87, of Forward Township, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Arden Courts. She retired as a clerk for Pennsylvania American Water Company in Elizabeth. She was a member of Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Church in McKeesport where she taught Religious Education for 65 years, receiving special recognition from the bishop for her years of service. A former clerk at the Glass House in Glassport, she was an avid sports fan and enjoyed bowling and softball.

John E. Lloyd Jr., age 85, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Grandview Estates of Elizabeth. He retired after 30 years as an operating engineer for Dick Corporation in Pittsburgh. An Army veteran having served during the Korean War, he was a member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth. He was a member of Local 66 Operating Engineers and a member and Past Master of Stephen Bayard Masonic Lodge 526 of Elizabeth. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers and nephews. A devoted family man, his family meant the world to him.
