An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he was a retired carpenter with Local 432 and a member of St. Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Michael Church in Elizabeth Twp. Born September 8, 1928 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late George L. Becker Sr. and the late Helen (Gruber) Becker. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Helen M. Frances "Cookie" V. Bindas, age 80 of Clairton, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 in Jefferson Hospital. Born March 8, 1943 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late John F. and Barbara L. (Demchak) Popchak. A member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Clare of Assisi Church, Frances was a elementary school teacher at St. Clare Elementary, an assistent teacher at Mt. Lebanon Montessori, and opened and retired from the St. Clare Montessori. She was also a CCD teacher and director of religious education at the former St. Joseph's Parish. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael "Mickey" Bindas, who passed away on February 5, 1998, and her sisters Rose Marie Wilkerson and Sr. Barbara Popchak.

David O. Pershing, age 93, of Blaine Hill, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Jefferson Hospital. He retired as a millwright for US Steel National Tube Works in McKeesport. He was a Marine veteran serving during the Korean War and was awarded a Purple Heart in the Battle of Inchon. He was also a catcher for the Parris Island Marine Corps baseball team. He was a past commander of the Blaine Hill VFW, a member of the Elizabeth American Legion, the Stephen Bayard Masonic Lodge, and a life member of the Blaine Hill Volunteer Fire Company where he was a past chief, lieutenant and trustee. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most sports. He enjoyed teaching young people the love of baseball and was a former president and team manager of the Elizabeth Baseball Association. Born June 7, 1930 in Elizabeth, he was a son of the late David S. and Rose (Telesfore) Pershing and husband of the late Katherine (Barton) Pershing. He is survived by sons, David F. Pershing of Blaine Hill, Robert K. (Elizabeth) Pershing of Irwin and Mark A. (Carolyn) Pershing of Springboro; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Mark and Cassidy Pershing; great-granddaughter, Dalia; siblings, Richard and Bill Pershing, both of Blaine Hill; also, nieces and nephews. Karl A. Randig, age 85, of Lincoln Borough, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at home. An Army veteran, he retired after 32 years as a stationary engineer at UPMC McKeesport. He was a member of Local 95, a lifetime member of Lincoln Borough Fire Company, a Mason for 40 years and a member of Lodge 45 F&AM in Pittsburgh. A Jack of all trades, he was an avid hunter, loved NASCAR, and collected and restored antique cars, his favorite being a 1957 candy apple red Corvette. Born June 29, 1938 in Lincoln Borough, he was a son of the late Andrew and Henrietta (Bradley) Randig. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Madeline A. (Lucas) Randig; daughters, Dawn (James) Gaydos and Sharyn Randig, both of Lincoln Borough; grandsons, Lukas (Christine) Gaydos and Logan Gaydos, both of Lincoln Borough; also, nieces and nephews. John M. "Jack" Poziviak, age 75 of Clairton, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at his residence. Born November 18, 1947 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late John and Margaret (Kovka) Poziviak. Jack worked as a control room operator for Duquesne Light Co. in Elrama. He was a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross, Clairton. Jack enjoyed traveling to watch his grandkids play sports, and going to the casinos. Jack was a handyman to his neighbors. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathleen Jupin Poziviak; his daughter Jennifer (Thomas) Walkinshaw: his sons John "Jack" (Melonie) Poziviak and Justin (Alana) Poziviak; his grandchildren Tyler, Morgan, Seth, Sydney, Maya, Jaxson, & Milena; his sister Dorothy "Dee" Martin of West Mifflin; and his nieces and nephews. Richard H. Lapinski, age 73, of Rostraver Twp., formerly of South Plainfield, NJ, and Bethel Park, PA, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at home. He attended Rehoboth Presbyterian Church in Rostraver Twp. He was a pitcher for Bethel Park High School from 1966-67, played American Legion baseball, and was scouted by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was a communications technician at Alcatel-Lucent and after he retired, was a consultant for CBM of America. He had various collections including antique radios, cameras, clocks and watches, and he restored several antique cars. He was an avid musician and played the guitar, piano and various other instruments. When he lived in New Jersey, he enjoyed boating in Barnegat Bay. Born August 27, 1949 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Stanley and Dolores (Tamburi) Lapinski Green. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diane (Helman) Lapinski; son, Richard A. Lapinski of Rostraver Twp.; stepmother, Gaye Lapinski of Huntersville, NC; siblings, Russell (Katie) Lapinski of Danbury, NC, Robert (Lori) Lapinski of Hygiene, CO and Tina (George) Duvall of Denver, NC; aunt, Betty Johnson of Baldwin; also, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Rose Marie Baker, age 93 of North Versailles, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, July 22, 2023. Born November 26, 1929 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Odoj) Plunko. Rose Marie earned an associate's degree from Robert Morris business school and worked at a credit union until she became a mom. She then spent the rest of her time taking care of her family and being an active member at St. John's Lutheran Church in North Versailles. She loved going to the cabin, making excellent meals and desserts from scratch, dressing sharp, and spending time with her family - especially her great grandkids. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends as she was very funny and admired for her strong character. Rose Marie was also preceded in death by her husband Wesley Clyde Baker and her brother Theodore Plunko. She is survived by her daughters Patricia L. (Carl) Pastore and Debra Jo (Eric) Pekala, both of Elizabeth Twp.; her grandchildren Kristy, Tara, and Macy; her great-grandchildren Emmett and Makiya; and also nieces and nephews.
