William J. “Pockets” McManus, age 75, of Elizabeth, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Jefferson Hospital. He was a retired craneman from Steelmet - ELG Metals in Port Vue and a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and loved hot rods and attending car shows. Born March 5, 1944 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late William J. McManus, Sr. and Claire (Peterman) McManus. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jacqueline “Jackie” M. (Hohn) McManus; daughter, Diane Bullister of Pittsburgh; son, Rennie McManus of South Park; grandchildren, Erin, Sean and Ryan Bullister; sister-in-law, Barbara (Donald) Yanko of Jefferson Hills; niece, Jamie (Greg) Geis of Elizabeth; nephew, Jesse Yanko of Bethel Park; also, sisters and a brother. Eileen G. Bekavac, age 84 of Clairton, passed away at home on Thursday, December 12, 2019. Born January 13, 1935 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Toth) Gaydos. A member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton, Eileen worked for many years at the Clairton Works FCU, retiring in 2000, and with Mike's Jewelry. She is survived by her sons A. Blaise (Constance) Bekavac of Edgewater, MD and Gregory T. Bekavac of Clairton; her grandchildren Chelsey and Christin; and also nieces and nephews. Elinore J. Stearns of New Eagle and formerly of Clairton, passed away on her 84th Birthday, December 11, 2019, in Jefferson Hospital. Born December 11, 1935 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Stephanik) Dwyer. A former sales clerk for many years at G.C. Murphy and Co. in Clairton, Elinore was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish in Monongahela. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Stearns, who passed away December 6, 2000, and her sister Louise Smith. Elinore is survived by her daughter Lorrie (Scott) Bellavance of New Eagle; her three grandchildren Tabitha (Joe) DeBerry, Brianna Romero, and Scott Bellavance; her six great-grandchildren Danika and Coltyn DeBerry, Izabella and Zayla Romero, Waylon DeBerry, and Veronica Bellavance; her siblings Betty Morally of Baldwin, Ruth Clarke of Wexford, Donald Dwyer of Jefferson Hills, and Harold Dwyer of Westmoreland City; and also nieces and nephews.

Born August 10, 1936 in New York, NY, she was a daughter of the late Theodore Mirkovich and Zorka (Terzich) Mirkovich Check. A member of Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, its Kola Sisters, and the SNF, Cookie worked as a secretary at both Fisher Scientific and the City of Clairton. She loved her Serbian culture, and loved to bake, cook, and parasail. Cookie is survived by her husband of 59 1/2 years Joseph Tranchini; her children Leslie (Johnathan) Thomas of Arlington, VA and Joseph (Carla) Tranchini of Jefferson Hills; her grandchildren Nicole (Daniel) Muhr, Bryan Wish, and Alexandra and Laura Tranchini; and also nieces and nephews. Paul L. Gala, 55, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2019. He was in the presence of his loving family. Paul was diagnosed with gastric cancer in May of 2018. Facing his foe with unwavering courage and dignity, Paul spent the last 19 months making indelible memories with his beloved wife and children. Paul was born on March 16, 1964 in Elizabeth Township, PA to the late Charles and Margaret Gala. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1986 and the following year, his MBA from the Katz Graduate School of Business. Paul dedicated 30 years to IBM as a business executive and market leader and most recently, 2 years as the Senior Director of Sales Operations at Blackboard.

Frank Vlasic, age 88 of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at Mt. Vernon of Elizabeth Assisted Living. Born May 27, 1931 in Yugoslavia, he was the son of the late John and Ana (Bogovic) Vlasic. A retired steelworker for US Steel - National Tube Works in McKeesport, he joins his wife, the late Dorothy Jane (Vugrincic) Vlasic, who passed away September 3, 2018. Frank lived in White Oak for almost 50 years before having to give up his beloved home and yard where he loved to spend his days outside cutting grass, planting flowers or working on cars. Frank was an active member of CFU Lodge 146 in Versailles for more than 60 years. Frank will always be remembered for his strong work ethic, his outgoing personality, willingness to always lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it and of being a proud Croatian! His heritage meant everything to him and he never hesitated to tell anyone who would listen how he was Croatian and then would try to teach them his native language.

Born December 16, 1925 in Clairton, Paul was a son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Dora) Kensky. He is preceded in death by his wife Olga (Perich) Kensky. He is survived by daughter Paula (Paul D.) Kensky Lee of Clairton, brother, Stephen Kensky of Butler, sister-in-law Virginia Pekala of Clairton, and also nieces & nephews,.
