Eli Vojnovich, Jr., 92, of Duquesne, PA, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022. Eli was born October 16, 1929 in Duquesne, the son of the late Eli and Mary (Stipanovich) Vojnovich. He graduated from Duquesne High School in 1948 where he excelled on the swim team. He was an Army veteran, serving in Germany from 1952-1953. He was a devoted son and could be found, along with his brothers, working in the family beer garden, Butch’s Wonder Bar in Duquesne. He retired from US Steel. He was a lifelong member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in McKeesport. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Helen (Peter) Medic and brothers John, Mark (Betty) and William Vojnovich. He was also preceded in death by a niece and great niece. Eli was the favorite uncle of many of his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He loved crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, drawing, painting and watching Pittsburgh sports. He made the best popcorn, always had a smile and will be missed dearly. He is survived by his brother Donald (Milena) Vojnovich and sister-n-law Dolores Vojnovich, all of North Huntingdon. He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews, 23 great nieces and nephews and 22 great, great nieces and nephews.

Timothy Stephen Petrisko, 80 years old of Duquesne, PA, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Tim was born in Duquesne to the late Stephen and Helen Petrisko. He grew up with his siblings, Sean, Joel and Mary Lou.
Tim worked at the Duquesne Steel Mill until the plant began to close down. After a variety of opportunities, he went to work for UPMC and became a supervisor for numerous parking facilities. During this time, he served on the Duquesne Public Schools school board for six years. After his time on the school board, he served on Duquesne City Council for 26 years. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church Duquesne PA, where he was also a member and Past President of the Church’s Men’s Club. Tim was also a member of the Duquesne-West Mifflin Knights of Columbus Council 4210 and the Stephen P. Barry Assembly of the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus.
In his early 20’s, he met Carol (Yesesky) and a short time later, they were married October 19, 1963 and started a family complete with 3 children. Being a dependable father was of the utmost importance to Tim and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to supporting his family.
Tim is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carol (Yesesky) Petrisko; his three children, Timothy R. (Terri) of Cary, NC, Robert (Kim) of Allison Park and Christina (Ian) Caballero of Waldorf, MD; and his five grandchildren, Tiffany Petrisko, Angelica Petrisko, Gabrielle Petrisko, Julio Caballero and Rebekah Caballero; sister Mary Lou Petrisko of Evansville, IN, brothers Deacon Sean (Ruth) Petrisko of Homestead and Joel Petrisko of West View.

Raymond J. Spirnak, 93, of Munhall, entered eternal life peacefully at home on Sunday, May 8, 2022. Born in Duquesne, February 7, 1929, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Balogac) Spirnak. Mr. Spirnak was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, St. Rita Church, Whitaker and a retired supervisor of Fisher Body, General Motors Corporation and proud veteran of the U.S. Army Korean War. Beloved husband of the late Marie (Dickson) Spirnak, he is also survived by his loving children, Dale (Michele) Spirnak of Munhall, Jacqueline Spirnak of Bridgeville, Gary Spirnak of California, Donna Greiner of Indiana, Karen (Richard) Allen of Tennessee, David Spirnak of Texas and Ray Spirnak of Indiana, five grand children, Eric and Nicholas Greiner, Mark and John Spirnak, and Lauren Poland, one great granddaughter, Vivian Poland and one sister Eleanor (late "Tim") Marcinko, of West Mifflin. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by sister, late Mary (late John) Sabol.

She was a retired caseworker for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and later served as a Croatian translator helping immigrants with their United States citizenship and medical care.
Dorothy was a loving mother to her children, Diane (Robert) Zapf, Deborah (Thomas) Mack, William York, Dawn Hubbell, and the late John York. She is survived by a brother, Stanley Kapso, three grandchildren, Robert (Jennifer) Zapf, Ashley Zapf, and William (Julie) York, and a great-granddaughter, Emelie Zapf. Dorothy was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Smith, and two brothers, William and Joseph Kapso.
Dorothy Hubbell was a devoted fan to her beloved Pittsburgh Pirates, Penguins, and Steelers. She was computer savvy and enjoyed music, gardening, current affairs and politics. Above all, she loved taking care of her family.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, March 28, 2022 from 6 - 8 P.M. at the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home Inc., 828 Richford Street, Duquesne, Pennsylvania 15110.
The Blessing will be on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at the Memorial Home with Rev. Tony Gargotta officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Name Cemetery, 1451 Willard Avenue, West Mifflin, Pennsylvania 15122.

Bernard John Ducar, 65, of Whitaker, peacefully fell asleep in the Lord, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Promedica skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Greentree. Beloved son of Bernard E. and Janet (Palmer) Ducar, "Bernie" was born in Homestead, April 7, 1956. In addition to his parents, he is also survived by loving brothers and sisters; William "Bill" (Joanne) Ducar, Robert Ducar, Denise (late Dean) Carr, Deborah (Ronald) Wolfe, and Mary Beth Ducar. Mr. Ducar will also be remembered by several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews. His family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for their loving compassionate care in his final days.

John Bonacci Jr., 86, of White Oak, peacefully fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 in Washington Hospital, Washington, PA. Born in West Mifflin, July 13, 1935, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Fecenko) Bonacci. Mr. Bonacci was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Duquesne and a retired maintenance repairman for the former Mellon Bank Corp. He was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Kacik) Bonacci, he is survived by his loving children, Richard J. Bonacci and Gary M. (Michele) Bonacci, two sisters, Angeline (Ron) Bost and Delores (Late George) Zuber, four grandchildren, Kirk, Brian, Christopher and Erika Bonacci and four great grandchildren, Devin, Chloe, Emily and Melia Bonacci. He was also preceded in death by an infant son and daughter and two brothers Robert (Mary) and Richard (wife Jan survives) Bonacci.

Norma Louise (Baughman) Samudosky,90, of West Mifflin, peacefully entered eternal life on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born in Whitaker on April 1, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Ruben and Loretta (Steimer) Baughman. Beloved wife of sixty-seven and a half years to Edward A. Samudosky, she is also survived by two loving children, Linda L. Halliday and David (Cindy Ivaska) Samudosky; two grandchildren Stacey (James Payne) Halliday and Justin Halliday; and three great grandchildren, Briyana Halliday, Harper Payne and Riley Payne.

Carole A. (Bovee) Collins, 69, of Bethel Park, peacefully fell asleep in the Lord, Tuesday, February 1, 2022 in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born in McKeesport, May 18, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Luther M. and Anna M. (Krenitsky) Bovee. Mrs. Collins was a retired assistant manager from Rite-Aid Drug Company. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert J. Collins. She is survived by a son, Adam R. Collins, a daughter, Ashley E. Collins, a brother, Martin L. (Patricia) Bovee, a sister, Jeannine D. (Late Raymond) Perhacs, cousin William Moravets, and several nieces and nephews.

Helene R. Nulty, 52, of West Mifflin, died at home on Friday, December 10, 2021. Born in McKeesport, June 13, 1969, she was the daughter of Johnny Nulty and the late Diana Korbanic Nulty. Helene spent her working career in department store loss prevention. In addition to her father she is also survived by a son, Jonathan Nulty, a brother John W. Nulty, and two sisters, Dawn (Ronald Gates) Nulty and Tiffany Nulty.

Helen Uhren

On Friday December 9th at 2:55PM, Helen Uhren (Bakota) joined her late husband Michael Uhren in Heaven. She was born on June 15th, 1931 in Homestead, PA to her late parents Albert Bakota and Sophia Bakota (Panocha) and had one brother, the late John Bakota of West Mifflin, PA. She is survived by her loving son Gregory Uhrlen of South Fayette, PA as well as beloved granddaughters Kayla Uhrlen and Juliana Uhrlen both of South Fayette, PA.
Helen graduated from the Robert Morris School (University), Secretarial Science Division, in 1950 and for 14 years she worked in the mortgage banking sector.
In addition to raising her son and spoiling her husband, Helen loved helping people who needed clothing sewn, hemmed or totally re-stitched. She loved sewing clothes for herself for decades and always looked uniquely stylish. The fancy square dancing clothes she designed always received compliments. She also volunteered at Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic church in Duquesne, PA helping with the care of vestments.
Helen also volunteered her time helping out with the catechism program at Sts. Peter and Paul for many years. She was also a member of Christian Mother’s at St. Agnes.
Helen’s greatest joy, like Mike’s, were her Granddaughters Kayla and Juliana. Every day, her question was, “how are the girls doing?” even if they had just seen them.
Helen would take care of the girls often for many years while Mike “supervised”. As her dementia grew worse, it became clearer that Kayla and Juliana were watching Helen and Mike instead. Yet, seeing the girls gave them both a purpose and something to talk about.
The family would like to thank the nurses and support staff at St. Clair Hospital who attended to Helen, especially Sharon, Peggy, Celest, Alli and Amanda as well as hospice nurses Janelle and Lisa. Many thanks to Vanessa, Kay, Cam and Bobbi for looking after Helen the last couple years at Victoria Manor in Oakdale, PA.
Helen’s funeral will be Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 11:00AM at St. Gregory of Nazianzus Byzantine Catholic Church, 2005 Mohawk Rd, Upper St Clair, PA 15241 with Rev. Will Rupp as celebrant followed by burial at the Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Rd, Bridgeville, PA 15017.

Paul C. Cmar, age 92, of Duquesne, passed away on November 23, 2021. Paul was born on March 18, 1929 in Hostetter, PA. He was the son of John and Mary Cmar, graduating from Latrobe High School in 1947. Paul was preceeded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Marie Yarosik, son Richard (Sherri), brothers and sisters-in-law Joseph (Mildred), John (Sally), Andrew (Gloria), and Francis (Orselena). He is survived by three sons, Dennis (Janice), David (Tracy), and Robert (Patricia). Paul and Marie had twelve grandchildren, Kristen (Daryl Hull), Lesleigh, Robert (Petya), Michael (Angela), Jeffrey (Hallie), Alexandria, David, Emily, Richard (Paige), Samantha, Nicholas, and Nicole. Nine great-grandchildren include Teagan and Maggie Hull, Val, Liam, Kia, Oliver, Theodore, Lillian, and Penelope Cmar. Paul was a member of the US Army, serving as a Military Police Officer in post World War II Germany. Following his service, Paul joined the Duquesne City Police Department, where he rose to the rank of Chief of Police. Upon retiring from the police force, he concluded his career by working in Security for US Steel and McKeesport Hospital. Paul was a devoted member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He served many years as a Board Member and later as Treasurer of FOP Lodge #91. He served as Secretary-Treasurer for the Third Class Cities Group of the Pennsylvania FOP and was elected in 1979 as Pennsylvania’s Representative to the FOP’s National Board of Trustees. He was a Life Member of the Allegheny County Chiefs of Police Association, a member of the Pennsylvania Retired Police Association, and a graduate of the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey, PA. Paul was a Life Member of VFW Post #188 (Duquesne) and a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus #4210. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, where he served as an Usher and was a member of the Holy Trinity Men’s Club. He was also a member of the Duquesne GBU, the Duquesne Croation Club, and the McKeesport 11th Ward Club. Paul was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather to his family, who loved him dearly. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 27 and Sunday, November 28, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the WILLAIM S. SKOVRANKO MEMORIAL HOME, 828 Richford Street, Duquesne, 412-466-8555, where a Blessing Service will take place on Monday, November 29, 2021, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at Holy Trinity Church, West Mifflin, of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, with the Reverend Larry Adams as Principal Celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, West Mifflin, with Military Honors. Please follow the COVID-19 safety guidelines and wear a mask if you are unvaccinated.
