Alba T. Hronakes, age 92 of Clairton, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021 at Jefferson Wellness and Rehabilitation Center.  Born April 21, 1928 in Connellsville, she was a daughter of the late Pietro and Madelina (Pilla) Pozzuto. She was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in White Oak, a 1946 graduate of Swissvale High School, and a longtime sales clerk at JCPenney's.  Alba was preceded in death by her husband Steve M. Hronakes, who passed away on February 17, 1989.  She is survived by her sons George P. Hronakes of Wickhaven and Michael P. Hronakes of Long Island, NY; grandchildren Gina Hronakes and Christine (Justin) Carnegie; great-grandchildren Gianna, Derrick, Mario, and Maria; sister-in-laws Dara Pozzuto and Myrna Hronakes; and nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, Alba was preceded in death by her six siblings.

  Elizabeth "Libby" Kennedy passed away suddenly on December 31, 2020. Libby was loved by all who knew her, a long time employee of the former Hills Department Store in Kennywood Mall, West Mifflin, an active member of Homeville Christian Church in West Mifflin. Libby was a grandmother of 6 and great-grandmother of 11. She was widowed by her husband Eugene "Spike" Kennedy in 1965. She is survived by her two brothers Paul Ebright and James (Norma) Ebright; son Eugene (Deanna) Kennedy of Berlin, PA; daughters Laura (Terrance) Needham, Lynn Baldwin, and Debra (Ronald) Yonek; grandsons Joseph (Kristen) Marecic, Rob (Erica) Kennedy, Andrew (Janel) Needham; granddaughters Heather (Derek) DeJohn, Lee Ann (James) Risha, and Denise (George) Grove. Friends and loved ones can be received at Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, 212 Wilmot St., Duquesne PA on Mon. from 2-4 and 6-8. A funeral service will be held at Homeville Christian Church, 4702 Eliza St., West Mifflin on Tue. 11am. Interment following at Jefferson Memorial Park.

Daryl M. Bowen, age 92, of White Oak, died December 30, 2020, at William Penn Care Center. Born November 15, 1928, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late John P. and Gladys M. (Jones) Mooney and the wife of the late William C. Bowen, Sr. for 58 years.
Daryl retired from the former Equibank of White Oak and, prior Westinghouse Atomic Plant of West Mifflin. She was a Graduate of McKeesport High School Class of 1946 and in the High School Choir. She was a graduate of Robert Morris Business School. Daryl was a member of the Calvary-First United Methodist Church of McKeesport, where she was in the United Methodist Women's Group. She was also a member of the Garden Club, and the Youghiogheny Country Club, where she played tennis. She also enjoyed singing in the high school choir ,church choir and Valley Voices singing group, dining out and traveling with her family.

Gloria Lee Carter Johnston

Gloria Lee Carter Johnston, 92, of East McKeesport, affectionately known as "Glo" passed away peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord, December 16, 2020. She was born September 28, 1928 in Reading, a daughter of the late Arthur and Laura Carter. 

She graduated from East McKeesport High School in 1946 and attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. She was a fashion illustrator for Jaison's Department Store. Her illustrations were published in the McKeesport Daily News. Glo enjoyed traveling, reading, shopping, her soaps, and Jeopardy. She was an active person and enjoyed being part of the planning committees of her high school reunions.

Gloria married her husband of 54 years David R Johnston on August 20, 1948. She became a wife, homemaker, and mother of three. David passed away on April 21, 2002.

For the last 10 ½ years she has resided with her loving and dedicated son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery C Johnston and Beth Ann Graziano. She is also missed by her beloved furry feline Whitey.

Also surviving is her son David C. Johnston of Latrobe, her daughter Kathryn L. Peters of GA; granddaughters Sacha and Maia; great granddaughter Olive; and her sister Kathryn "Kay" McConnell of OH.

Mary Jane Collage, 88, of Ridgeley WV, formerly of Elizabeth Township, PA, passed away on Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24, 2020 at her home.

Born on August 13, 1932 in McKeesport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Larry and Rose (Ferrante) Cordisco. She also was preceded in death in 2015 by her husband of 55 years, Donald J. Collage, Sr. and a brother, Edward Cordisco of Lincoln, CA.

Mary Jane worked at GC Murphy Co. prior to marrying and later at Dapul Machine Co. in Elizabeth Twp for over 20 years. Her life was dedicated to the care of her husband, children and grandchildren. Mary Jane was known for her Italian pizzelle cookies and her famous meatballs.

She is survived by sons, Richard Dean Collage and wife Jean of Elizabeth Twp., Donald Jean Collage, Jr. and wife Cheryl  of Ridgeley, WV, and Denis Larry Collage of Fort Lauderdale, FL; a daughter, Kimberly Joan Collage of Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Stephen, Richard, Rachel, Karalee, Kaelin, and Kelli; great-grandson, Quinten; sisters Joan Simko of South Carolina and Agnes Cordisco of McKeesport; niece and goddaughter Diane Montanti of Irwin, PA;  nephews and cousins.

Terrence (Terry) William Jackson

Terrence (Terry) William Jackson, 73, died December 30, 2020 at the age of 73. Terry was the devoted husband of Kathleen (Poprocky) Jackson for 32 years. He is also survived by his brother Tim (Gloria), Mother in Law, Ann Poprocky, Brothers and Sisters in law, Rita (Carl) Catalano, Theresa Poprocky, Monica (Pat) D’Abruzzo, Edward (Victoria) Poprocky and Anne (Paul) Troy, many beloved nieces and nephews and many friends.

Terry was preceded in passing by his parents, William and Dorothy Jackson and his brother, Brian Jackson. Terry was an Air Force Veteran. He spent most of his career as a Federal employee of the Department of the Treasury, the IRS, and the OPM. In his retirement, he worked in child care for the YMCA of Wilmerding.

He volunteered as a teacher’s aide for generations of his wife Kathy’s students. Terry loved helping children and always was himself a child at heart. He was an avid, intrepid traveler throughout Canada and the U.S. Most of all, Terry was a person of deep, enduring faith, dedicating years of service to his local Catholic parishes, as a sacristan, altar server, and Eucharistic Minister. Terry’s family remembers and cherishes his unmatched kindness, the twinkle in his eye and the joy he got and gave over telling silly jokes.

Mark J. Julian, age 87 of Clairton, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 in St. Clair Hospital, Mt. Lebanon.  Born August 12, 1933 in Clairton, he was a son of the late Attilio and Adeline (Lancianese) Julian.  A self-employed barber, Mark also worked as a fireman for the City of Clairton and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Clare of Assisi Church, an avid golfer, and a big supporter of Clairton Athletics.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lillian "Kathleen" (Gorgey) Julian, who passed away March 13, 2011 and his late siblings: James, Joseph, Peter, John, and Marie Julian, Concerina Bonafortuna, Viola Contini and Dorothy and Frances Russo. Mark is survived by his children Marc (Susan) Julian of Upper St. Clair and Sharon (D.J.) Julian-Milas of Pleasant Hills; his grandchildren Benjamin and Adeline Milas and Brandon and Leo Julian; his siblings Valentino Julian of Seminole, FL, Anthony Julian of Pleasant Hills, and Angelina DiPietro of Gresham, OR; and many nieces and nephews.

Veila retired from the former G.C. Murphy Company, where she was a floor supervisor. After retirement, she sold newspapers on the corner of 5th Ave. and Sinclair St. Veila loved meeting and greeting the folks of McKeesport. Velia graduated High School class of 1944, in Moore, TX as the Salutatorian. She will always be remembered for her kindness and love of family.
