Patricia “Pat’ A. (Headings) Fryer, age 76, from North Huntingdon, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021. She was born February 17, 1944 in McKeesport and grew up in Port Vue, a daughter of the late William and Evelyn Headings. She attended St. Agnes Catholic Church in North Huntingdon. Pat worked for over 28 years as a food service manager for the Norwin School District before retiring.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Gerald Headings. She is survived by her sons Cary (Marlene) Reccelle and Chris (Carla) Reccelle both of North Huntingdon; grandchildren Kyli Miller, Jacob Reccelle and Joshua Reccelle; brothers William (Fay) Headings of Lewistown; Mike Headings of McKeesport and her sister Mary Grace Morris of Port Vue.

Also surviving are several nieces and nephews that she cherished spending time with. She enjoyed shopping online and being with her very dear friends.

Joseph G. “Sonny” Olson, age 80, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 in Jefferson Hospital. He was a former salesperson for Progressive Music in McKeesport, a member of St. Michael’s Parish in Elizabeth Twp., and a member of the American Legion. Born January 6, 1941 in Glassport, he was a son of the late Anthony Borrelli and Marie (Oslowski) Borrelli. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol (Kocis) Olson; four children, Joseph “Blaze” (Ronda) Olson of Elizabeth Twp., Bethann (Mark) Hudson of Virginia Beach, VA, Michael (Diana) Olson of West Newton and Lindsey (Mark) Anchak of Elizabeth Twp.; seven grandchildren, Joey, Nick, Justin, Kaity, Misty, Kylee and Adalee; three siblings, Anthony (Marianne) Borrelli of Brecksville, OH, Andrea (Jack) Kunzic of Glassport and Daniel (Casi) Borrelli of Cranberry; also, nieces and nephews.

Donna J. (Colecchi) DiLonardo, age 77 of Clairton, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021 in Jefferson Hospital.  Born June 21, 1943 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Felix and Lorette (Rondinelli) Colecchi.  A member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish and the Sons of Columbus Santa Maria Council #3, Donna was a graduate of Clairton High School who then attended Point Park University and retired as a medical secretary.  In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, family vacations to Ocean City, MD, and trips to the casino.  She joins her husband of 42 years, the late Vincent W. DiLonardo, who passed away May 21, 2017.  Donna is survived by her sister Dolores Sluszka of New York; niece Carla Danielson; nephews Dean, Anthony and James (Kathy) DiLonardo and Vincent and Anthony Imbrogno; and also her aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws.

He was a U.S Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA). Born August 31, 1921 in Gastonville, he was a son of the late Arthur H. and Lillian (Heil) DuCarme and husband of the late Charlotte E. (Church) DuCarme. He is survived by sons, Douglas DuCarme of Elizabeth Twp. and Joseph DuCarme of Elizabeth Twp.; step-son, William Howden of Elizabeth; 6 step-grandchildren, numerous step-great grandchildren and step-great-great grandchildren; also nieces and nephews.

Gertrude Stypula, age 88, a lifelong resident of Pittsburgh, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021. She was born April 30, 1932 to Joseph and Anne Gress, and grew up in the Whitaker neighborhood with her siblings, Stephanie Pastirik, Joseph Gress and the late Mary Ellen Gress, George Gress, and Joanne Johnson. Gertrude and her beloved late husband of 65 years Frank had five children, Frank (Diane), Henry (Sandy), Lori Badarzynski (Ed), Christine Kiester (Kevin), and Linda Watson (Mike). Gertrude is survived by grandchildren Cameron, Dylan, Lauren, Nathan, Darrin, Ross, Ryan, Daniel, Bradley, Tyler and Conner.

Prior to her marriage she had achieved a supervisor position with AT&T. She then became a lifelong homemaker and enjoyed making her special Slovak/Polish meals anytime the family was together. Gert had a love for animals and took great pleasure in raising birds.

Nick Tomasello

Nick Tomasello, 91 of Glassport, passed away on Thursday, January 7 th, 2021 at Jefferson Hospital. He was born on March 14, 1929, in Glassport to the late Dominic and Josephine Tornabene Tomasello. Nick was the loving husband of 41 years to the surviving Margaret Gaza Tomasello.

Nick proudly served his country with the United States Army as a Staff Sargent and Medic in the Korean War. He was a member of the Citizens Hose Company 1 Volunteer Fire Department in Glassport, where he was the oldest member after serving 72 years. Nick was also a former councilman of Glassport. He enjoyed being involved in politics, shooting pool, and playing poker. He worked as a millwright for U.S. Steel, where he retired from.

He is survived by his son, Vincent James (Donna) Tomasello, of Simpsonville South Carolina, daughters Josephine T (Aaron) Pikovsky of North Huntingdon, Theresa M. (Scott) DeCecco, of Liberty Boro, and Mary F. Tomasello, of Mooresville, North Carolina, step-children, Charles (Linda) Gaza, of Coneautville, PA, Catherine Daum, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, David Gaza, of Clairton, Carolyn Gaza, of Clairton, Claire Dehnoo, of Clairton, six grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Russell was a member of the Boston United Methodist Church and was retired from Precision Kidd Steel. He was a US Navy Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. For his service he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Philippine Republic Presidential Unit Citation. Russell loved cooking, gardening, restoring cars and being with his family and friends.

Cliff Whitehead of North Huntingdon and formerly of Port Vue, died at (UPMC) McKeesport Hospital where he was born 82 years ago on August 26, 1938. He was the son of the late John and Helen Whitehead. Cliff was the devoted and loving husband of Sally (deceased) for 53 years.

Many people said Cliff was “one of a kind”. Over the years, he made many friends through his ventures in a variety of vocations and avocations including high school basketball at McKeesport under Cornelius “Neenie” Campbell, a stint in the U.S. Army where he entertained troops and civilians as a member of the singing group The Dinaros while stationed in Turkey, appliance specialist at Wander Sales and Kmart, positions in banking and finance including a colorful career as a collections agent (“repo man”), entrepreneur as owner of a Fox’s Pizza Den, chauffeur at The Lemon Tree, PIAA football and basketball official, and unofficial “Mayor of Sunset Valley” with the best neighbors ever.

Sheedy who passed away January 9, 2005; her brothers Alex, Andrew, Joseph, and George Biro; and her sisters Ethel Simon, Mary Kosareck, Sue Jacob, Elizabeth Tolone, and Kay Starry.  She is survived by her sons James A. (Linda) Sheedy of Versailles and with whom she resided for ten years and David B. (Michelle) Sheedy of North Huntingdon; her grandchildren Jake, Jared, David, Elliot, Aaron, and Caroline; her great-grandchildren Alexandra and Julian; and many nieces and nephews.
