Helen Janet Morris, 89, originally of East McKeesport, PA, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2024, at the age of 89, at Riverside Nursing Home, McKeesport, PA. She was born March 1, 1935, daughter of late Earnest and Helen (Borek) Morris. Beloved sister of the late Mary Louise (Richard) Rawa and the late David Morris. Helen is survived by nephews Joseph (Marlene) Marsh, James (Debbie) Marsh and niece Karen Marsh (John Dallas). Janet had many great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew.
Janet was raised in East McKeesport, PA and attended St John’s Lutheran Church there. She attended school at the Westinghouse High School in Wilmerding, PA. Janet was known to be a very hard worker. She made a living for herself as a waitress all her life. She worked for years at the Mountain View Inn and Restaurant near Greensburg, PA and most recently at Carbone’s Restaurant in Crabtree, PA. Janet also lived in Crabtree. Janet was a joyful and kind person who was fun to be around. She will be missed.

Gail (Platt) Altman, 82, of Irwin, died Monday March 18, 2024, at home. She was born November 9, 1942 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Ralph Francis and Edwina (DeWalt) Platt and was also preceded in death by a brother Gordon Platt. Gail received a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and was a retired English teacher for the Norwin School District. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Irwin, and also a member of the Women’s Club, the Book Club, the Welcome Wagon, Sweet Adelines, and The Muses theater group. She authored two books, Tales from Tinker Run and Irwin Abstracts, wrote poetry, and taught music at the Norwin YMCA.

Andrea E. “Teeny” “Tina” (Baacke) Harbadin, (90), of York, SC, formerly of North Huntingdon, beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed peacefully from this world on March 16, 2024. Born June 27, 1933, a daughter of the late Peter and Elizabeth (Papp) Baacke, she is also preceded by her husband of over 46 years Joseph T. Harbadin, her sister Carol “Vergie” Cehlar and brother Wilbur “Billy” Baacke.
After helping her father raise her three siblings, she raised 5 children of her own with her husband and was sole caregiver for many years for Joe who suffered from multiple sclerosis before his passing.

Jo An (Bentley) Axton, age 91, of East McKeesport, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2024. She was born March 2, 1933 in Turtle Creek, a daughter of the late Roy and Marie (Trout) Bentley. She was an active member of the Hillcrest United Presbyterian Church in Monroeville where she made chocolates to sell and bracelets for the needy. She worked as a paralegal in the Patents and Trademark Division of Pittsburgh Plate and Glass in Pittsburgh for over 30 years before retiring. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years Robert James Axton; brother Roy Bently Jr.; and sister Arlene Marie Betthauser. She is survived by her Nephew Ray M. Christian of Jupiter, Florida; and great nieces and nephews in Georgia and Florida. There will be a memorial service at a later date. Interment will be at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park in North Huntingdon Township. Arrangements handled by the Forgie-Snyder Funeral Home, 1032 Broadway, East McKeesport, 412-823-8083. Elizabeth J. "Betty" Gaydos, 94, of Glassport died March 20, 2024. She is the daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Kapsar) Jambor and beloved wife of the late Andrew Gaydos. Betty is survived by her daughters Susan Bender, Andrea (the late Jim) Foster and Beth (the late Jeff) Cadman; grandchildren Amanda (Nicholas) Julian, John (Jackie) Foster, Jared Bender, Anthony (Kelly Ursiny) Foster, Annelise Cadman and Kenzie (Robert) Stinner; bonus granddaughter Emmale Bodnar; great grandchildren Hannah (Rob) Eversole, Miley Julian, Brooklyn Julian, Chazdine Harmon, Sophia Foster and Mia Grace Stinner; great great grandsons Brayden and Braxton Eversole; sister-in-law Jackie Jambor; also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by granddaughters Sarah Foster and Oaklee Jean Stinner; brothers John Jambor and Joseph Jambor and sister Margaret Mallick. Betty was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary Reliance Hose Co. #2; Women's Club; former Girl Scout Leader and band parent. She was also a member of the Christian Mothers and Rosary Society at Queen of the Rosary Church. Friends received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Sat. from 6 to 8 and Sun. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. A funeral service will be held Mon. 11:00 am at the funeral home. Patrick Joseph “Senior” “Pap-Pap” Vitale, Sr., age 58, of McKeesport, PA, died on Sunday, March 17, 2024. He was born in McKeesport on March 7, 1966, and is the son of the late John William and Mary Louise Wigand Vitale. Patrick was employed as a warehouse manager for medical supplies for over twenty years and later was the maintenance supervisor for Woodland Manor. He was a youth baseball and wrestling coach for McKeesport, as well as a youth basketball coach for Penn Trafford. He was a loving father and grandfather. He really enjoyed sports and seeing others happy.

Denise Louise Reynolds, 69, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024. She was born October 13, 1954 in McKeesport and was the daughter of Marcella (Soubeyrand) Miller of Elizabeth Township and the late Rudolph Perisich. She was the wife of the the late Gary Wayne Reynolds who passed away October 17, 2017, Denise attended the Bible Fellowship Community Church of West Newton and was a 1972 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School. She was a Flight Attendant for over 30 years and had retired from American Airlines. She had previously worked for the former US Air and Piedmont Airlines. Before becoming a Flight Attendant, Denise was a Veterinary Technician.

Robert Donald Yates, 82, of Paintertown, passed away March 19, 2024, at Hempfield Manor. He was born March 24, 1941, in Greensburg, Pa., a son of the late Joseph and Hazel Painter Yates. Bob was the owner of Bob Yates Concrete Finishing Company and Sales. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and small engine repair. A proud veteran, Bob served in the U.S. Marines during Vietnam as a Sergeant. He is survived by his first wife and friend, Joan Yates, his beloved daughter Lisa Marie Yates, sisters, Oletha "Bunny" Salopek (John) and Connie Clooney, one grandson, Christopher Joseph Yates. Bruce C. Mycka, age 61, of McKeesport, died March 17, 2024, at Kane Community Living Center in McKeesport. He was born August 19, 1962, in McKeesport, the son of Shirley (Lichka) Mycka and the late Eugene Mycka. Bruce's passion for muscle cars, dirt bikes, and motorcycles was a defining aspect of his life. His interest in cars was also evident in the meticulous care he took when detailing them. His love for animals, especially dogs, was apparent in the kindness and care he showed towards them. Additionally, his mastery of martial arts and karate was a skill that he honed with dedication.

Charles E. Stanley, age 91, of North Huntingdon, passed away Monday March 18, 2024, at his home. He was born May 10, 1932, in Prestonburg, Kentucky, a son of the late Fairbanks and Frona Mcown Stanley. He was a member of the Norwin Alliance Church and enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing. Prior to retirement, Charles was an Electrician for General Motors with 22 years of service. He was a US Army Veteran serving with the 11th Airborne Division during the Korean War where he was the recipient of 3 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife JoAnn Hall Stanley, two sons, Charles K. Stanley and Dr. Gregory K. Stanley. He is survived by his grandson, Chad Stanley (Nicole); great-grandson Luke Stanley, and great-granddaughter Lila. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the James W.
