Donald Michael Bajus, 77, of Munhall died peacefully at home on April 27th, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was a graduate of Duquesne High School and attended The University of Miami, Florida post graduation. Donald was drafted into the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam War earning an honorable discharge. A local business owner, Donald was the former proprietor of Sujab’s Bar on Main Street in Munhall. Always the sports and statistics enthusiast, Mr. Bajus was a long time sponsor of the Munhall Baseball Association and anything related to Steel Valley Athletics. Later in life, Donald served his community as a Steel Valley School Board Director for six years.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents John “Brown” and Louise Bajus and daughter Maria Elizabeth Bajus Heddleston. Donald is survived by his wife of 53 years Mary Louise (Barczy) Bajus; son John Edward, wife Emily and beloved granddaughter Reagan Louise Bajus of Greenwich, CT; son-in-law Brian Heddleston, wife Katie and beloved grandsons John and Nathan Heddleston; sister-in-law Catherine McGee of West View, PA; brother-in-law Steve Barczy and wife Rosemarie of Venice, FL.
The Bajus family would also like to acknowledge the tremendous love and support from the Fetzko, Longstreth, Fatula, Barczy, McGee, Hleba, Tretinik, and Modrick families during this time. We are blessed to have you in our lives.

Robert J. Wargo, Sr., age 90 of McKeesport, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023 in Jefferson Hospital. Born April 27, 1933 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Petr and Pauline Wargo. A US Army Veteran of the Korean War, Robert retired from US Steel's Monroeville research facility. He was a member of Saint Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge #3, and the Archer Hill Bowling League. In his spare time he loved hunting, fishing, yard work and gardening, tinkering with cars, listening to Willies Roadhouse and Croatian music hour, and -- most of all -- spending time with his family and beloved dog, Mr. Gibson. He is survived by his wife Maryann (Volarich) Wargo; his children Robert J. Emil J. Weber Jr., age 86, of McKeesport, formerly of Duquesne and West Mifflin, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, in UPMC Shadyside. Born in McKeesport on June 24, 1936, he was the son of the late Emil J. and Anna (Pavlo) Weber Sr. He was retired from U.S. Steel Homestead and Duquesne Works, was a former auxiliary policeman in Duquesne and a retired school crossing guard in West Mifflin. He proudly served his country in the Army. He was Catholic by faith, liked crossword puzzles and enjoyed life. Emil is survived by his son, David J. Weber of McKeesport. Harry A. James, age 66, of Johnstown, PA, died Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born on July 4, 1956, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Harry J. and Louise A. James. Harry graduated from McKeesport High School and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the University of Arizona, studying business and criminology. He moved to Massachusetts, where his career in the mortgage industry took off and spanned 30 years across the country. He worked for several companies but ultimately became self-employed and retired after assisting people buying homes and businesses, helping them obtain loans, closing on sales, and with all aspects of their successful search for their properties.

Elizabeth (Womack) “Liz” Johnson, born May 31, 1947, entered her heavenly home, April 15, 2023. She was preceded in death by her loving parents Lydia (Richards) and Walter Lee Womack, adored brother Walter E. Womack, beloved daughter, Tiffany Nicole Johnson, and endeared nephew Marvin Womack.
Liz was raised in Rankin, PA and in 1998 moved to McKeesport where she was an active member of the community. In September of 2012 Liz began a thirty-year career at General Motors/Fisher Body BOC, where she worked in various positions, from janitorial, to fork lift driver, assembly line worker, to welder. Her greatest joy came when her skills were recognized and awarded with a promotion to Team Leader. After retiring from General Motors Liz decided to return to work and gained employment with the McKeesport Area School District as a Security Officer. She was a longstanding member of St. Paul AME Church and diligently served on the Missionary, Steward, Usher, and Trustee Boards, at various times throughout her membership. She also served as a nurse and on the hospitality committee. Liz loved to sing and expressed her love of gospel music by singing in the Ben Harris, Gospel, and Mass Choirs. She was an avid reader of the Bible and participated in various Bible Studies.

Sr., and Rose M. (Barna) Davis. William was the loving husband of 47 years to the late Helen Davis. He is survived by children Amber Paluti of Waynesburg and Rebecca Davis of Clairton and brother Charles Davis Jr. of Ohio. Kathleen graduated from Port Vue/Liberty High School in 1966 and went on to Duff’s Business School. She started her career at Duquesne University, then worked at St. Peter’s Child Development and Chee-Chee’s Resale Shop. She eventually retired in 2008 from Glenshire Woods Personal Care Home in McKeesport as business office manager. She loved her family beyond measure. She helped us all navigate life and sacrificed everything for her family. Every holiday and birthday were made special by her. She was an avid “Friends” watcher along with old movies, especially “It’s a Wonderful Life”. She and her sister Pam were die-hard Pirates’ fans, and she shared her love of the Pittsburgh Steelers with all of us. Mary Catherine Duvall, 89, of North Huntingdon died Tuesday April 11, 2023. She is the daughter of the late Matthew and Catherine (Kutch) Gracan. She is survived by her beloved husband Robert Duvall; sons Robert (Ann) Duvall and David (Lori) Duvall; grandchildren Jacob, Marissa, and Olivia Duvall; brother Matthew (Melba) Gracan; niece Kelly Bongartz; and other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Patricia (James) Bongartz. Mary Catherine grew up in Whittaker before becoming a resident of North Huntingdon for 62 years. She married her loving husband Robert in 1956. She was an executive assistant at Standard Savings and Loan for ten years and then worked at Kauffman’s for five years and Macy’s for five years. Born September 20, 1931 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Ferino "Pete" and Laura (Maloney) Similo. Don joins his wife, the late Arlene L. (Castor) Similo (1939-2005), to whom he was married for 44 years. He received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. Don started his career at Elizabeth Forward High School, where he was a business teacher as well as a football coach and athletic director. He was employed by California University of Pennsylvania as a financial aid director and accounting professor. After his retirement from Cal, he continued his CPA private practice until 2021. Don was also civically minded and active, serving as an Elizabeth Township Commissioner for 40 years. He was a parishioner of Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish - St. Michael's Church where he was a member of the ushers' club, finance committee, and Knights of Columbus. Don was also, as of the date of his passing, the oldest member and past president of the Youghiogheny Country Club. In his spare time, he participated in various golf leagues and was a fan of Penn State Football and Pittsburgh sports teams.

Dennis Rosenberger, 75, of Hanover Park, Ill., left us March 26, 2023. Theodore Panczyk, 99, of North Versailles, passed away Monday, April 03, 2023. He was born September 8, 1923 in Chalfant, a son of the late Joseph and Katherine (Schultz) Panczyk. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty, daughter Janie, brother Francis Panczyk, and sisters Sophia Powell, Jean Martin, Florence Kearns, and Joan Crissman. Ted was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, North Versailles. He was an Army veteran who served in WWII and the Korean War. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his heroic achievement in action on January 23, 1945 near Bennwihr, France.
He worked for H.J. Heinz Company for 35 years as a purchasing manager. Ella Mae Jones, 81, also known as Noogie of Duquesne, was born on April 3, 1941, in Robeson County, NC. She was the beloved daughter to the late Charles and Queenella (Mclean) Hopes.
Ella graduated from McKeesport High School. She was the 2nd oldest of 7 children, whom she loved dearly. Ella loved being with family and would attend every family function just so she could be around those she loved. Ella also was known to tell it how it was, she didn’t sugarcoat anything, so if you were around her you better have tough skin and virgin ears.
Ella was a very generous individual. If she had it, you had it. Ella was crazy about her sons and grandchildren. She would make sure that she was at every sporting event, birthday parties, and graduations. Being a single mom, she knew that she had to be both mom and dad for her sons, John and Paul. She would work various jobs such as Secretarial work for the Steel Mill, Federal Government, and in her later years Hills and Ames Department Store.

Ann B. Morgan, age 73, of McKeesport, died at home on April 2, 2023. Born March 28, 1950, in McKees Rocks, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Catherine (Munster) Muller and wife of Patrick C. Morgan for 43 years. Ann and Patrick were always on the move and spending time outside together. They enjoyed bike rides around the neighborhood and walks in White Oak Park. On weekends they would visit Seven Springs as a retreat from the busier city life or Ligonier, filling cans with natural spring water. Every year they would also visit Kennywood Park, riding rides, eating food, and taking in the natural beauty of the flowers. Ann spent a lot of time in spring and summer tending to the flowers in her garden. She also cherished going out to dinner with Patrick, where they could share stories of the day and have a good meal. Ann is also survived by sisters, Cathy Muller and Dorothy Bittner; niece, Alaina Bittner.

Raymond J. Kowalski, age 84, of Port Vue, died on April 1, 2023, at Jefferson Hospital. Born September 1, 1938, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Alphonse and Anna (Korap) Kowalski and the husband of Marie (Donchinen) Kowalski.
Raymond retired as a machinist for Carbidie. He served in the United States Air Force. Raymond cherished the time he spent with his wife Marie and supporting their grandchildren's extracurricular activities.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by children, Don (Kathleen) Kowalski, Maryann (Bob) Goldbaugh, and Donna (Lonnie) Ambrose; grandchildren, Valerie Godfrey, Bailey Wineland, and Meghan Kowalski; great-granddaughter, Kennedy Wineland; sister, Anna Mae Notaro.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by sisters Irene Seibert and Louise Cottom.

Rita T. Wintermoyer, 62, formerly of North Huntingdon, resided in Grafton, WV, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023. She was born March 29, 1961 in Braddock, resided in Pitcairn, a daughter of the late Harry Robert and Alice Waltz. Rita was a certified respiratory therapist and pharmaceutical representative and a former member of St. Edward Church.
Rita was a graduate of Gateway High School and West Virginia University. She enjoyed boating, crocheting and fishing. She was a member of the North Huntingdon #3221 AARP, was an avid Bunco player, and loved to travel, but above all else, she loved her family. She enjoyed watching Pittsburgh sports, the Virginia Tech Hokies and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Kathy Brecko, of Duquesne, PA., 89, passed away at home, surrounded by her family, on March 31, 2023.She was born in Braddock on July 10
, 1933, and was the daughter to the late Edward and Catherine (Medrick) Wentroble. She was the wife of the late Joseph Brecko. Kathy was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish-Holy Trinity Church in West Mifflin. Kathy’s greatest joy was being a mother to her children, Joseph John Jr. (Debbie), Sue (Marina Yanko), Cindy, and Lori Brecko. She loved being a grandmother to her Granddaughters Amy, Kathi and Chaya and Great Granddaughter Kelly. She was a homemaker. She also had a career as a Bell Telephone Operator, Teacher’s aide for the Duquesne School District, and served as president to the PTA of Duquesne Catholic Schools. She was preceded in death by brothers William (Maxine), George (Ann), Edward (John), Joseph (Late Josephine and Patricia Grace), and sister Mildred (Jim) Noe. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Kathy had a sense of humor, funloving, and loved to laugh. In her youth, she loved dancing to her favorite polkas. Loved watching the Steelers. Loved going to the bingo and the casino. Never went out of the house without putting on some lipstick first. She loved to drive. She loved to cook and bake, especially cookies and pies. Special thanks to our Mom’s caregivers Lori, John, and Kayla who allowed our mom’s remaining years to live at home, on her terms. Finally to Bridges Hospice for their care and compassion of our mother in her last year of life. And extra thanks to our therapy dogs Rusty and Gracie who gave our mother much happiness and emotional support. John A. Scalise, Jr., age 82 of Glasgow, KY, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023 in Mon Valley Care Center, Monongahela. Born October 10, 1940 in Clairton, he was a son of the late John A. Scalise, Sr. and Clementina (Roy) Scalise. A 1959 graduate of Clairton High School, John received his bachelor's degree from Morehead State University and his M.Ed. from Western Kentucky University. He retired as a music teacher for the Glasgow School District and then worked until very recently for 27 years as a courier for South Central Bank. John was a member and lector at St. Helen's Roman Catholic Church in Glasgow, KY and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Glasgow. In his spare time, he was a co-director of the Glasgow Community Band, an avid sports fan -- especially his hometown teams from Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh, loved to work the sticks on Friday nights for Glasgow High School football, and really enjoyed playing with his great-niece-and-nephew Kennedy and Robert. John is survived by his sister Lucille (Gary Moore) Herndon of Clairton; his nieces and nephews Alexis (Robert) Trubiani of Donora, John (Shannon) Shar of Crafton, Donna (the late Tom) Watson of Pleasant Hills, and Gloria Costa of Jefferson Hills; and also many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years Jeanne (Henson) Scalise, who passed away June 6, 2010; his siblings Frank Scalise, Marie Gray, and Esther Shar; his nephew Robert J. Harold "Herky" Dovey, age 78, of McKeesport, died March 30, 2023, at AHN Jefferson Hospital. Born December 9, 1944, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late John and Marybell Schmidt.
Herky was an avid sports fan, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates. Even though he was a Pirates fan, he would not root for them while watching games. He felt responsible if they lost, but if they won, he was elated. Herky enjoyed collecting baseball cards and studying the back to learn player stats. Herky had an excellent memory of baseball stats and would recall Pittsburgh Pirates lineups as far back as the 1960s. His happiest memories were being around his siblings, nieces, and their children.
Herky is survived by siblings, Colleen (the late Michael) Morgan and Rev. Carl (Janet) Schmidt; niece, Beth (Joe) Pienkoski; great-nephews, Dustin and Trevor Pienkoski. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, friends, housemates, and staff. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by siblings, Mary Jane Tauber, Bill Schmidt, and David Schmidt.
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. Rev. Carl Schmidt will officiate.
The burial will follow at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.
