Nancy (Kovac) Mollise, 78, of Elizabeth Township, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2022, surrounded by her beloved husband Sal, children and family. Nancy was born in McKeesport on September 22, 1943. She was the devoted, caring and ever-loving wife of her husband of 54 years, Salvatore Paul Mollise. Nancy and Sal would have been celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary in a few weeks. Nancy is survived by husband Sal, along with her three children, Maria (Robert Svedberg) Mollise of Atlanta, GA, Michele (Michael) Pirrone of Atlanta, GA and Salvatore Paul (Jennifer Bickerstaff) Mollise, II of Elizabeth Township; sister, Dorothy Kovac of McKeesport; sister-in-law, Barbara (Robert) Whiteacre of Washington; grandchildren, Jacob and Joseph Svedberg; and step-grandchildren, Clay, Trinity, Madison and Beau Pirrone. Nancy was predeceased by parents, John and Anna (Mital) Kovac; sisters, Charlotte and Joan Kovac, and brother, John Kovac, all of McKeesport; and parents-in-law, Frank and Eleanor Mollise of West Mifflin. Nancy was a dedicated member of St. Michael’s Catholic Parish in Elizabeth Township for more than 50 years and truly enjoyed working the Lenten fish fry and crafting palm crosses for Palm Sunday and Easter services. She graduated from St. Peter’s High School in McKeesport and was retired from Great American Federal and Three Rivers Bank, where she enjoyed helping and guiding her banking customers for several decades. She was also a member of Jednota and Elizabeth Township Seniors, and a breast cancer survivor participating in numerous Race for the Cure walks over the decades. Nancy’s true joy came from being with her close-knit family and her lifelong Scenery Drive neighbors and friends, and was known throughout the community for her incredible hospitality, delicious homemade meals, warm hugs, caring letters, Slovak pastries, and her and Sal’s manicured gardens.

Bonnie (Gephart) Swisher, age 77, of Forward Twp., passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at home. Born in McKeesport and raised in Elizabeth Twp., she was the daughter of the late James and Kathryn (Coleman) Gephart and was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Raymond Swisher. Bonnie enjoyed going to different casinos, visiting the beach and taking bus trips. Her strength, resilience, and deep and quiet love will always be remembered by her family. She is survived by a son, Brad (Lisa) Swisher of Derry; daughter, Kelly (William) Clausi of Rostraver Twp.; grandchildren, Lauren (Vince) DiSante, Seth and Laynie Swisher; sister, Holly (Nick) Luptak of Elizabeth Twp.; brother, James (Jane) Gephart of Elizabeth; companion, William Rodabaugh of Forward Twp.; also, numerous nieces and nephews. She was a retired seamstress for Johnny's Best Cleaners in Clairton and a member of the Elizabeth Baptist Church where she was a deacon, Sunday school teacher and member of the choir. Dorothy loved to garden and she was a devout follower of Jesus. Born January 13, 1927 in Elizabeth, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Grace (Strausser) Householder and wife of the late William "Bill" Huston. She is survived by a daughter, Jean (Kenneth) Marsh of Elizabeth; son, Kenneth (the late Debi) Huston of McKeesport; grandchildren, Melanie (Jacob) Allan, Leah Huston, Scott Huston, Kenneth Marsh, Jr., Erik Dorundo, Julie (Matt Pyle) Marsh, and Greg and Jason Fleming; great-grandchildren, Kyleigh and Andrew Huston, Malcolm and Spencer Allan, Nolan and Dylan Pyle; also, nieces and nephews. Mary Ann (Tomcheck) Beetlestone, age 86, of Clairton, formerly of Glassport, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Havencrest Nursing Home in Monongahela. She was a member of the Elizabeth Women’s Auxiliary Club and loved to bake pies, and play cards and bingo. Born February 5, 1936 in Glassport, she was a daughter of the late Martin and Kate (Skalski) Tomcheck and beloved wife of the late Regis C.  Beetlestone. She was the mother of Dean Tomchek of Clairton, Timothy Tomcheck of Jennerstown, Phillip Simpkins of McKeesport and Rose Ann (James DeVault) Simpkins of Clairton; grandmother of Brandon Tomcheck of McKeesport and Thomas (Heather Burnside) Simpkins of Washington, PA. Catherine B. West, age 71 of Versailles, passed away at home on Thursday, September 1, 2022.  Born September 5, 1950 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Herbert C. and Mary C. (Rodman) West.  A member of Mary, Mother of God Parish - Corpus Christi Church, Catherine worked as a computer technician for many years, first with G.C. Murphy and Co., then Sargent Electric, and then heading the computer room at Braddock Hospital.  She finished her work life at WalMart.  As a child, she was a Girl Scout and McKeesport Majorette Drill Team member, and was also a proud Gold Star Family member.  Besides her parents, Catherine was predeceased by her brother James E. West, USMC, who died in the Vietnam War.  She is survived by her brothers Officer Thomas West, McKeesport PD of McKeesport and Jay (Nadine) West, USMC of Greenock; her nephew Justin Richel; her niece Phalyn (Bob) Richel Lewis; and her great-nephews-and-nieces Austin, Chase, Lexie, Teegan, and Shawn.

A Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, he retired as an electronic technician for Westinghouse Seimans in Oakdale. He attended Glassport United Methodist Church and was a member of American Legion Post 801 in Roscoe and the Elizabeth Twp. Sportsman’s Association. Born November 16, 1943 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Arthur and Dora (Stoops) Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, M. Kathleen  (Bennett) Holmes Johnson; daughters, Tammy (Ken) Argyros of Elizabeth, Donald (Christene) Holmes of Liberty Borough, Patricia (Thomas) Yeager of Lincoln Borough and Denise (Joe) Gray of Allenport; grandchildren, Amy (Jesse), Seth (Stacey), Jesse (Alex), April (Matt), Tyler (Taylor), Amanda, Ashley (Brandon), Victoria (Nick), Alexis (Matthew) and Alayna; 13 great-grandchildren; also, nieces and nephews. Quinten, age 69 of Trafford, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 in UPMC East, Monroeville.  Born April 15, 1953 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late William and Wilma (Stevenson) Quinten.  The valedictorian of his Schenley High School Class, James earned a scholarship to Penn State University, where he majored in drafting and drawing and graduated in 1973.  He then went on to run his own construction company until his retirement.  James is survived by his wife of 44 years Kimberly Marie (O'Malley) Quinten; his sons Jason (Leslie) Quinten of White Oak and Eric Quinten of Trafford; and his grandchildren: Kaylee Marie Quinten and Mackenzie Rae Quinten.

Farabaugh, age 90 of Clairton, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 in Arrowood at Southwestern.  Born Jaunary 31, 1932 in Allegheny Twp., Cambria County, she was a daughter of the late Maurice and Jeanne (Parrish) Farabaugh.  A former telephoner operator and circuit designer for Bell Telephone's, then Verizon's, Pittsburgh office, Rebecca was a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish - St. Clare of Assisi Church in Clairton and the Telephone Pioneers of America and was also a volunteer at Jefferson Hospital.  She is survived by her sister Anne Donnelly of Williamsport and many nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents, Rebecca was preceded in death by her sister Mary Barbara Colaianni and her brothers: Thomas, Stephen, and John Dennis Farabaugh.

Evelyn "Effie" (Batinich) Liptak, age 92 of Jefferson Hills, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022.  Born March 20, 1930 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Marion and Mary (Nikolic) Batinich.  The former co-owner/proprietor of Marion's Tavern on Route 51 in Jefferson Hills. a family business for over 50 years. Effie was an active member of the Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish - St. Thomas A Becket Church in Jefferson Hills and its Ladies of Charity.  She was also an active member of the Croatian Fraternal Union St. George Lodge #248 and was extemely proud of her Croatian heritage.  She served as a member of the Lodge Board of Trustees, as well as a delegate to the National CFU conventions. Effie enjoyed getting together with her "Church Ladies" friend group that often got together for breakfast.  She was an excellent cook and an even better baker. Her family will remember her as extremely generous in all aspects of her life., She adored her family, especially her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.  She loved big, shared big, gave big, cooked big, and lived a big full life with a matching big personality.  And that is why she leaves such a big hole in their hearts.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George J. Liptak, who passed away January 5 2006, and her siblings Thomas Batinich, Carol Batinich and Anna Mae Majernik.  Effie is survived by her children Renee (Roger) Vonada of Carnegie and George (Susan) Liptak of Upper St. Clair; her grandchildren Andrew and Morgan Vonada and Nathan, Rachel, and Michael Liptak; her siblings Marion Lokmer of Chargrin Falls, OH, Joan Atkinson of Jefferson Hills, PA and Frances Smith of Kennebunk, ME; and also many beloved nieces and nephews.

Boris "BoBo" Abrasheff

Boris "BoBo" Abrasheff, age 92 of Clairton, passed away at his daughter's home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.  Born March 3, 1930 in Clairton, he was a son of the late Kiril and Theodora (Mirchef) Abrasheff.  A US Army Veteran of the Korean War and member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish - St. Clare of Assisi Church, BoBo was the decades-long owner/proprietor of the Clairton Bakery and an avid golfer.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadette (Chisick) Abrasheff, who passed away November 24, 2005, and his brother Kosta Abrasheff.  BoBo is survived by his daughters Karen (Gil) Berry and Nanette (Barry) Shaffron, both of Jefferson Hills, his brother Carl "Cu" (Marlene) Abrasheff of Clairton, and also nieces and nephews.

He was a retired teacher in the Gateway School District, where he was a former assistant baseball coach and video taped the high school football games. A member of St. Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Michael Church in Elizabeth Twp., he was an avid Penn State fan and graduate and an avid sports fan of Elizabeth Forward High School. Born May 19, 1941 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late John and Rose (Ferretti) Sandor. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Pat Sandor; daughters, Deann (Adam) Stefl of Elizabeth Twp. and Susan (Shawn) Hall of Elizabeth Twp.; grandchildren, Theresa, Molly and Adam Jr.; sister, Mary Phillips of Duquesne; also, nieces and nephews.
