Amelia “Amy” Stalczynski, age 71 of Duquesne, died Saturday, December 23, 2017. She was born in Duquesne on July 21, 1946 and is the daughter of the late Leon and Amelia Petrosky Stalczynski. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Jody and Eugene Stalczynski.

Theresa “Tessy” Waligura, age 65, of Monroeville, died January 3^rd, 2018. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on September 16^th, 1952, the daughter of the late George R. and Ann Frederick Schlicht. She is survived by her husband, Dr. R. Curtis Waligura of Monroeville; daughters, Megan (Christopher) Brengel of Morristown, NJ, Emily (Scott) Deke of Dallas, TX, Melanie (Timothy Collins) Waligura of Dallas, TX, Kathryn (Arianne Smith) Waligura of Cincinnati, OH; sisters, Georgeanne Schlicht of White Oak, Margaret Schlicht Creehan of McKeesport, Patricia (Joseph Quinn) Schlicht of Squirrel Hill; brothers, George R. Schlicht, Jr. of McKeesport, John (Jill) Schlicht of Atlanta, GA; and grandchildren, Patrick, Parker, and Cameron. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Michael, and her sister-in-law, Lillian Martinez.

Tessy received her nursing degree from the McKeesport Hospital School of Nursing and then her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Penn State University.  Her relationship with her husband, Curt, began while she was working on the IV team at McKeesport Hospital.  She worked alongside him for over 15 years as the office manager and patient care advocate.  Tessy loved to play golf and enjoyed late nights at the casino.  She was fond of traveling with Curt and their close friends, as well as fine dining and red wine.  Her greatest passion was spending time with her daughters and grandchildren.

Betty Ruth Burstin, age 89 of New York, NY, formerly of Duquesne, died Sunday, December 31, 2017.  She was born in McKeesport on July 29, 1928 and is the daughter of the late Louis and Ida Schermer Burstin.  She was an English Teacher for over 40 years and enjoyed water color painting.  She is survived by her brother, Dr. Charles Joel Burstin and his wife, Judith Ann Burstin of Beverly Hills, California; as well as 2 nieces Michaelle and Stacy Burstin and a nephew, Brad Burstin.

Matilda L. “Tillie” Morgan, age 95 of White Oak, died Friday, December 29, 2017. She was born November 2, 1922 in Bridgeport, Ohio, the daughter of the late Michael and Frances Skorjane Brescel. She was preceded in death by her husband Earle A. Morgan Jr. and her son Richard. Matilda is survived by her son, Michael Earle (Susan) Morgan of Heathsville, VA, daughter in law, Lea Morgan of N. Versailles, grandchildren; Amber (James) Billy, Rick (Michelle) Morgan, Marc (Kristen) Morgan, and Douglas (Lauren) Morgan, also 10 great grandchildren. She was one of 12 siblings and was the last survivor.

Mary Kay Ashton, age 87, of McKeesport, passed away on December 30, 2017. She was born in Warren, PA on April 13, 1930, the daughter of John and Mary Buda Strefeler and the wife of the late Edward J. Ashton. She is survived by her daughter, Jane (John) Aiken of Monroeville: granchildren, Edward Aiken of Durham, NC, Dr. Allison (Mang Chen) Aiken of Berkley, CA, and Janelle (Ian) Eberhardt of Brighton Heights; great grandchild Rohan Aiken Chen; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was especially close with her niece, Trish. She is preceded in death by brothers, Edmund & Jim Strefeler.

Andrea Bartko, Esq., age 55, of White Oak passed away peacefully on December 28, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. Married 35 years to her soul mate and loving husband, Kevin, she cherished every moment with him. Steve C. Kertis, age 89 of West Mifflin, died Thursday, December 28, 2017. He was born January 22, 1928 in McKeesport, the son of the late Stephen and Anna Kertis and husband of the late Sarah Rose Bowers Kertis.  He served in the US Army during WWII in the Philippines and Pearl Harbor.  He was employed at US Steel Christy Park Works until he retired then became an optician. He was also a member of the White Oak American Legion Post #701.

Andrew M. Ryan, age 74 of Wall, died Thursday, December 28, 2017. He was born September 28, 1943 in Wilkinsburg, the son of the late Leo Michael and Mary Witouski Ryan. Andrew worked for Keystone Auto Parts from 1976 until his retirement in 2007. He loved woodworking and was so proud of all the projects he made for so many friends and family.
