John A. Scalise, Jr.

John A. Scalise, Jr., age 82 of Glasgow, KY, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023 in Mon Valley Care Center, Monongahela.  Born October 10, 1940 in Clairton, he was a son of the late John A. Scalise, Sr. and Clementina (Roy) Scalise. A 1959 graduate of Clairton High School, John received his bachelor's degree from Morehead State University and his M.Ed. from Western Kentucky University.  He retired as a music teacher for the Glasgow School District and then worked until very recently for 27 years as a courier for South Central Bank.  John was a member and lector at St. Helen's Roman Catholic Church in Glasgow, KY and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Glasgow.  In his spare time, he was a co-director of the Glasgow Community Band, an avid sports fan -- especially his hometown teams from Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh, loved to work the sticks on Friday nights for Glasgow High School football, and really enjoyed playing with his great-niece-and-nephew Kennedy and Robert.  John is survived by his sister Lucille (Gary Moore) Herndon of Clairton; his nieces and nephews Alexis (Robert) Trubiani of Donora, John (Shannon) Shar of Crafton, Donna (the late Tom) Watson of Pleasant Hills, and Gloria Costa of Jefferson Hills; and also many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.  Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years Jeanne (Henson) Scalise, who passed away June 6, 2010; his siblings Frank Scalise, Marie Gray, and Esther Shar; his nephew Robert J. Nystrom; and his brother-in-law Joseph Herndon.

Louis T. Campbell, Sr.

Louis T. Campbell, Sr., age 80, of Jefferson Hills, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. He was a member of Monongahela Church of the Nazarene. He had many jobs, including working for Blume Engineering and Allied Security. While working for coal mining companies, he worked as a mechanic and owned Campbell's Lawn Mower Repair where his children were proud to work for their first job. He maintained Lou's Locksmith for years and retired from the maintenance department in the South Park School District. His last job was with the Visiting Angels, which he was very proud of and mentioned to everyone he did that until he was almost 79. He was a Free Mason and member of the Omni Masonic Lodge 582 in Dravosburg, and a long-time member and vice commander of American Legion Post 75 in Clairton. He was proud of being a Santa at Denny's and the mall, where he gave gifts to the kids, and he always had time to camp with his family on the weekends. Born August 11, 1942, he was a son of the late Thomas and Inez (Tessore) Campbell and husband of the late Carol Ann (Paul) Campbell and Deborah J. (Werner) Campbell. He is survived by children, Cindy Lou (Rich) Harrison of Finleyville, Louis Thomas Campbell Jr. of South Park, Melinda Devlin (Shaka) of Floreffe, Kurt Martin of Buena Vista and Derek (Kathryn) Martin of Elizabeth Twp.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Kathy (Butch) Castner and Steve (Susan) Campbell; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by siblings, Tom (in infancy), Barbara Lee, Billy and Jimmy. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Roger R. Ankney, age 79, of West Elizabeth, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Jefferson Hospital. An Army veteran having served during the Vietnam War, he retired as an industrial painter and supervisor for Avalotis Corporation in Verona. He was a member of Stephen Bayard Masonic Lodge 526 of Elizabeth and the Painter's Union. Born September 28, 1943 in Massena, NY, he was a son of the late Robert Howard and Helen (Lobonich) Ankney. He is survived by his daughter, Lori (Dave) Zelenko of Venetia; granddaughter, Macie (Andrew Puciata) Zelenko of Venetia; stepsons, Scott Pust, Michael (Mary) Pust, Dan (Judy) Pust, Dale (Renee) Pust and Doug (Shelly) Pust; brother, Wayne Ankney of Moyock, NC; also, nieces and nephews. She was a member of West Newton Presbyterian Church and enjoyed spending time with her church family. She was head of concessions at the Palace in Greensburg and a former employee of Verizon and Pittsburgh National Bank. Born November 22, 1948 in Monongahela, she was a daughter of the late Grover C. Plants Jr. and the late Clara (Inks) Plants. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, William Lash; daughter, Debbie (Paul) Roth of New Orleans, LA; sons, Todd (Dana) Lash of North Huntingdon and Jeff (Heather) Lash of Pleasant Hills; grandchildren, Spencer Lash of North Huntingdon, Alexis, Joshua and Brandon Roth of New Orleans, and Alyssa Lash of Pleasant Hills; sister, Jayne Anne (Jerry) Goehner of South Park; also, nieces and nephews. Michael J. Shinavski, age 89, of Elizabeth Twp., formerly of Elizabeth, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 at Jefferson Hospital. An Army veteran having served during the Korean War, he was a retired steelworker at US Steel National Tube in McKeesport and a former maintenance employee for the Elizabeth Forward School District. A member of Mary Mother of God Parish in White Oak, he liked hunting, fishing and the outdoors, and enjoyed going to the family camp in Tidioute. Born May 4, 1933 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Michael and Mary (Feltz) Shinavski and husband of the late Catherine A. (Pavol) Shinavski. He is survived by sons, Michael J. Shinavski of Elizabeth Twp. and Kenneth J. (Darla) Shinavski of Farmington; grandchildren, Katelyn, Eva, Laura and Julie; daughter-in-law, Lorraine Shinavski of South Park; also, nieces and nephews. Julia Dufalla, age 96 of West Mifflin, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Paramount Senior Living of South Hills.  Born June 13, 1926 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Julia (Kolcun) Dufalla.  Julia was a medical secretary and Tech for Bell Telephone/Verizon for 45 years.  She was a member of Ascension of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church in Clairton  She is survived by nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents she was preceded by her brothers Andrew, John and Michael Dufalla; and her sisters Ann Turick, Mary Graban, Helen Solo, Irene Parish, and Margaret Dufalla.  Friends will be received from 10 AM to 11:30 AM Monday, March 27, 2023 with a Parastas service at 11:30 AM in the A.J. Cynthia Ann (Coburn) Dragosin, age 72 of Clairton, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 in Jefferson Hospital.  Born July 24, 1950 in Connellsville, she was a daughter of the late James Patrick Coburn, Sr. and Bernadine Yvonne (Mascara) Coburn. She attended Mount Mercy Women's College and California State College of Pennsylvania with a major in biology. Cynthia was a natural IT expert; as well as a certified Sony video conferencing specialist, audio and video scriptwriter, software trainer and did video production. Her expertise with animation software landed her into performing the computerized pencil test for Tom Petty's video "Running Down A Dream" and so many more accomplishments in all of her fields. She currently worked in operations for I Can Distribution in Pittsburgh and was a contract administrating agent with Can Research Laboratories Inc. through Dragosin Production Works.  Cynthia actively participated in her Catholic parishes all of her life: choir and guitarist, 2nd grade/Holy Communion and CCD teacher at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in Dunbar and St. Clare of Assissi Church Clairton. She was also a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish - St. Clare of Assisi Church, Clairton.

Nemes, age 58 of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Friday, March 17, 2023 at home.  Born June 2, 1964 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Alexander and Joanne (Garish) Nemes.  Ken worked as a contruction worker and loved to ride his motorcycle and drive his 1974 Dodge Charger.  He was a member of the Duckpin Bowling League at the Glassport Lanes.  Ken is survived by his wife Debbie (Harrison) Nemes; his son Kenneth J. Nemes, Jr. at home, his daughter Ashley (fiance Chad Bailey) Nemes of McKeesport, his son Joshua (Sheila) Nemes of Elizabeth Borough, his son Dillion (fiancee Alissa Byrne) Nemes of Wilkinsburg; his grandchildren, Kristopher Laughlin, Philip Stahley, Dane Bock, Kyiah, Xander, Izzabella, Kali, Tina Marie, Naomi and Chase Nemes; his sister Terry A. He worked as a salesman for Schumann Auto Parts and was a former auto parts salesman for Bowser Automotive. Glenn enjoyed photography, cooking, music and had a love for fishing.  Born on May 10, 1947 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Glenn H. and June (Davies) Schumann. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elaine U. (Ford) Schumann; three sons, Rodney Schumann of Elizabeth, Curt (Gretchen) Schumann of Elizabeth Twp., and Bryan “Jake” (Shuxia) Schumann of Qingdao, China; two daughters, Cynthia (Dale) Schmaltz of Franklin, IN, and Connie (Stephen) Gallagher of Pittsburgh; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; step grandchildren; a brother, Tim Schumann of Clairton; a sister in-law, Ren Schumann of Pittsburgh; a step sister, Loretta James; a step brother, Mark DePollo; and a brother in-law, Mike DePollo; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Ruth Schumann; a sister, Deborah DePollo and a brother, Leslie H. Schumann. Friends will be received at the Paul E. Diana L. “Lynnie” (Domer) Hale, 62, of Elizabeth, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2023 at the Canterbury Place, Lawrenceville. Born in Tennessee on July 25, 1960, she was a daughter of the late Stephen Fedorka and the late Barbara (Domer) Janicki. Lynnie was a former delivery driver at Mikes Pizza and Mama Pepino’s in Elizabeth and most recently for the former Hall of Fame Pizza in Clairton. She had a love for crafting and shopping and most of all, loved talking on the phone with her cousin Brenda for hours and hours. She is survived by her sister, Tina (Luke) Wellmon of Townville; two brothers, Michael Kadar of Midland, NC and Wayne Kadar of Elizabeth. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron A. “Swift Eagle” Hale; sister, Lori McIntosh; and brother, Joseph M. Kadar, Sr. No visitation is scheduled. Florence "Flo" Antonella

Florence "Flo" Antonella, age 90 of McKeesport, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 in Walden's View of North Huntingdon.  Born January 3, 1933 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Felix and Pauline (Tomaino) Marasco.  A former volunteer at McKeesport Hospital, Flo was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish and a secretary and member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers at the former St. Perpetua Church.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Pete A. Antonella, who passed away May 20, 2013, and her siblings Maryann Tagaole and Joseph and John Marasco.  Flo is survived by her son Gary (Diane) Antonella of Mt. Vernon, her granddaughter Brianne Antonella, and also nieces and nephews.
