William H. Owens, age 91, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at UPMC McKeesport. He retired as a machinist and fire chief for U.S. Steel, Irvin Works. He was a member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Twp. where he was a two-term church council member, usher, eucharistic minister, and an altar server. A Navy veteran having served in World War II, he was a member of American Legion Post 0712 of Pleasant Hills, the Knights of Columbus, Council 10077, Stephen P. Berry Council and its Color Corps.

He was the owner of Ronald Zubasic Home Improvements in Elizabeth Twp. He enjoyed every aspect of the outdoors including camping, boating and sharing time with those he loved. His favorite entertainment was listening to the band The Real Deal. He was known to many as "the Bird Man" because of his pet parrots that accompanied him to many public events. Ron’s greatest assets were his kindness and generosity. He loved his dog and best friend, Buddy, who passed away with him.

"Oz" (Elaine) Schumann of Elizabeth Twp. and Tim Schumann of Clairton; sister, Deborah (Michael) DePollo of Kingsport, TN; also, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be private.
