John Anthony Carney, Jr., 88, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Tuesday, April  23, 2019. He was born May 24, 1930 in Elizabeth Township and was the son of the late John Anthony Carney, Sr, and the late Sadie Stella  (Fisher) Carney. John was a member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Township and was retired from US Steel. He had worked for US Steel in Clairton, Homestead and the Monroeville Research Center. He was also an avid golfer.

Alexander "Al" Kalin died Sunday, April 14, 2019. Beloved husband of Sandy Kalin (nee Scurle) for 53 years; dear brother of Elizabeth (the late Thomas) Denny; dear uncle of Jennifer (Dale) Conklin and Christopher (Jackie) Denny; dear great-uncle of Norah and Oscar; our dear cousin and friend to many. Al was a 1st Lt. Army in Korea during the Cuban missile crisis. He sang in many choirs, played golf as an excuse to get breakfast, taught confirmation classes for over 35 years, loved theater, opera and symphony. He supported the Art Museum, History Museum, Botanical Gardens, Science Center, St. Louis Zoo, Missouri Historical Society, Opera Theater St. Louis, Winter Opera, Metropolitan Opera and the St. Louis Symphony. Loved animals especially his 6 Wheatens and Kitty. He attended Mt. Airy Seminary in Pennsylvania. He loved to travel and made it to 49 out of 50 states. He was a longtime employee of Huntington Alloys part of International Nickel and retired from Special Metals.

Ocie L. Paige, Jr., 80, of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, departed this Earthly life on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, in UPMC McKeesport Hospital.

He was born July 5, 1938, in Birmingham, Alabama, son of the late Ocie L., Sr. and Eula Mae Rodger Paige.  He was also preceded in death by his wife of over fifty-eight years, Alease Wallace Paige, who passed away on February 3, 2019.

Ocie was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.  He retired from the United States Army and was also employed as the Director of Food Services of the Wilkinsburg School District. As an active participant within his community, he was a member and past president of both the McKeesport School Board and the NAACP.  He also worked as a Manager for Wendy’s Restaurant.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Daphne D. Paige; two grandsons, Ocie L. Paige, III, and Collin Paige all of McKeesport; sister, Bertha Mae Hopson of Detroit, MI and other loving friends and relatives.

Larry Robert Williams, 80, of Elizabeth, passed away at Jefferson Hospital, on Sunday, April 21, 2019.  He was born December 28, 1938, to the late John and Jessie Trumpie Williams.  Larry is survived by his son; Jerry R. (Darlene) Williams of Espyville, Pa., daughter Sheri Williams of Elizabeth, and granddaughter; Jessica Buckery of Elizabeth.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Diana Barca Williams.  Larry was an avid fisherman, he was a member of the Blaine Hill and Elizabeth Fire Department, and the Sportsman Club of Pymatuning Pa.  He also worked for Mesta Machine in Homestead Pa., and Elizabeth Forward School District as a custodian.  The family would like to thank the staff at Jefferson Hospital and all his friends at the fire hall. Arrangements have been entrusted to S.M. Mary Ellen Skop, 64, of Clairton, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at UPMC Presbyterian. She received her B.A. in Education from St. Francis College in 1974 and was a teacher at Brightside Academy and the Clairton School District for many wonderful years. She would often encounter former students who always approached her with enthusiasm. An avid member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton, Mary had a very strong relationship with God and often reflected on scripture and its application to life. She loved to read both classics and new aged material, preferring to touch the pages rather than use a Kindle. She was known for her quick wit in conversation and ability to make strangers new-found friends. She was a fierce card player and had an exclusive group that met to play at her house on Sundays. She enjoyed decorating for all holidays and often changed her table arrangement in her dining room to match any occasion.

Blair M. Wojton, 75, of Glassport died Saturday April 20, 2019. He is the son of the late Matthew and Sophie (Ekiert) Wojton. He is survived by his siblings Carol (Richard) Dziki, Fran (Mike) Hoover, Phyllis (Bill) Beaver, Sta Wojton, Matt Wojton, and many nieces and nephews. Blair was a teacher at South Allegheny and St. Michael's, a member of the Glassport Council, Democratic Committee member, Lion's Club, and he also worked for Macy's and Puff's for many years. Friends received Thursday and Friday 2-4 and 6-8 and a celebration of Blair's life will take place Saturday starting at 10am with a Catholic service being held at 11am at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home 640 Vermont Ave, Glassport. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Blair's name.

She was born September 21, 1932 in Jeannette, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Adriana M. (Pas) McElroy and was also preceded in death by her brother David Kleyn. Lois grew up in Shafton and was a graduate of Irwin High School. She faithfully worked at Jeannette District Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1996. She was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Irwin. She had great joy in watching her church grow over the years. Lois was a loving mother and grandmother that raised three sons on her own. She valued family and friends, enjoyed meeting the girls for card club, and had a passion for cars owning many different models throughout her life, her favorite was a 1936 Hudson.

Ray was a veteran of WWII having served in the Army Air Corps and participated in the Normandy Invasion on D-Day plus 1. He was a graduate of Norwin High School, Class of 1942 and received his master’s degree in education from California University of Pennsylvania. He was a school teacher and basketball coach at Penn Trafford School District before becoming a longtime insurance agent for Nationwide Insurance. He was a member of First United Church of Christ, Irwin, a Paul Harris Fellow and former member of Norwin Rotary Club and a member of the American Legion Post 359 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 781, both of Irwin.

Anne was a lifelong resident of Clairton until her move to Sewickley.  Anne was a 1942 graduate of Clairton High School. She worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone and as a merchandise buyer for Skapik’s Department Store in Clairton. She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton.  Anne is predeceased by her husband Andrew A. Kmetz, her son Andrew and daughter Carol Kmetz. She is survived by her daughters Monica Kmetz Cochran (Terry), Andrea Kmetz-Sheehy (Bob), and Tracy Kmetz; her grandchildren Scott Cochran (Kirsten), Christopher Cochran, Caroline Cochran, Elizabeth Sheehy and Jack Sheehy; great-grandchildren Austin, Brooke, and Cameron Cochran; nieces and nephews.
