Edward L. "Ed" Popp, 78, of Duquesne, passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 28, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born on February 12, 1942 in Lincoln Place and grew up in Duquesne. He was the son of the late John A. "Jonica" Popp, Jr, and the late Emily F. (Tytke) Popp. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Duquesne, Allegheny County FOP Lodge 91, F & AM Aliquippa Lodge 0375, the PIN club, and Dravosburg American Legion. Ed retired from the City of Duquesne Police Department where he served as a Policeman and Detective. Additionally, he worked for the Kennywood Park Police Department and was a retired military veteran where he served a combined 25 years in the U.S. Navy active duty and the Pennsylvania Air National Guard,171st Air Refueling Wing.

Penney's, and was a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Clare of Assisi Church and the Italian Sons and Daughters of America.  Maria was an avid gardener, and her cooking was legendary.  When you visited Maria, you were always welcomed and blessed with a meal fit for a king.  She was loved by everyone that crossed her path and will be deeply missed.

He then enlisted and served 25 years in the United States Marine Corps. He received his Bachelors in Business and Masters in Public Administration from Strayer University.

Mert, a man of many talents and passions, spent his free time hunting, fishing, and creating joyous moments with his loved ones. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend. As a member of Zion Baptist Church, Mr. Williams would graciously provide the fish for the church’s annual fish fry.

After a long battle with cancer, Carol Ruth (Sharpnack) Thompson, age 75, of West Newton passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Ascension St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN. She retired as a secretary for GMAC in St. Petersburg, FL and she worked part-time with her late mother at Sandcastle and Kennywood. She enjoyed traveling and sports. Born June 24, 1945 in Teaneck, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Thomas E. and Caroline (McLaughlin) Sharpnack. She is survived by her daughter, Nancye (Shaun) Hill of Manchester, TN; grandson, Austin Kistler of Manchester, TN; sister, Peggy (Ron) Mizla of Morgantown, WV; also, many cousins. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth on Monday, November 30, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 12 Noon in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Marvin C. Watson officiating. Cadena, age 83 of Clairton, passed away at home on Sunday, November 22, 2020.  Born October 3, 1937 in Clairton, he was a son of the late Alfred and Emma (Hrvacic) Cadena.  A former Pennsylvania National Guardsman and member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish (the former St. Joseph's Church, Clairton), Alfred worked for many years in buildings and facilities department at US Steel - Clairton Works.  He had an extreme fondness for cars, whether it be their repair, collection, or even the die-cast models.  He had a passion for westerns, classic country music, and old time television, especially Perry Mason and Gunsmoke.  Alfred was a handy person who was always available, and happy, to help.  But most importantly, his family will remember his as a generous soul who dearly loved his family.  Besides his parents, Alfred was preceded in death by his sisters Emma (John) Berchok and Lillian (the late Lewis) Martini.  He is survived by his sister Bernadette (the late Sylvester) Mazza; his nieces and nephews Michele Mazza, Jeffrey (Megan) Mazza, Brian (Gwen) Berchok, Jacqueline E. (Joe) Ciotti Herrle, Mark (Sally) Martini, and Lisa (Bryan) Smith; and his great-nieces-and-nephews Brian, Jocelyn, Olivia, Madeline, Lilliana, and James.

Amelia Wilson, 88, of Irwin, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.  She was born June 5, 1932 in Irwin, a daughter of the late Edward and Mamie (Thorpe) Exton.  Prior to her retirement, Amelia worked as an administrative assistant for various businesses.  She was a member of West Hempfield Presbyterian Church and enjoyed playing Bridge, quilting and traveling to Florida with her husband for the winters.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Wilson; brothers, Albert and Lestor Exton; sisters, Isabelle Shubert and Marietta Flaherty.  She is survived by her sons, Dale and Gregg Wilson; daughters, Diane Palmer and Laurie Prenatt and her husband, Patrick; six grandchildren, Nathan (Courtney), Megan, Adam, Heather, Gregg Alan, Bryan; and great-granddaughter, Addison.  Due to Covid-19, visitation and funeral service will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Amelia.  www.shirleyfuneralhome.com

"Nick" Manning, age 76 of North Huntingdon, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020 in Forbes Hospital, Monroeville, surrounded by his wife and children.  Born May 11, 1944 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Harry and Dorothy (Oatman) Manning and brother of the late Rose Kalkbrenner and Patricia Manning.  From 1967 to 1970, Harry served as a sergeant in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam War, earning six honorable medals, two Letters of Appreciation, a Meritorious Unit Citation, and a Combat Action Ribbon.  Harry was employed as a craneman at Tygart Steel in Versailles, but he dedicated his life to his home and family.  On October 20, 1970, Harry married his wife Christine (Bach) Manning and, in October, they celebrated fifty wonderful years of marriage.  Besides his wife, he is survived by his children Joseph (Shelly) Manning of McKeesport, Timothy (Debbie) Manning of Coulter, Terrance (Ggee) Manning of Versailles, Allison (John) Shipley of White Oak, Jennifer Carper of Coulter, and Nicholas (Jody) Manning of Rilton; his thirteen grandchildren Nicole, Lindsay, Joey, Taylor, Talia, Christopher, Terrance, Johnny, Nicholas, Dylan, Christina, Hunter, and Melanie; his fifteen great-grandchildren; and also many nieces and nephews.  Words cannot describe or measure how much he was admired, loved, and deeply respected by all who knew him.  He was a giant man with an even bigger heart, and he will always be a hero to his loved ones.

In her younger years, she danced with the Tamburitzans. Mary enjoyed traveling to the west coast and Canada. She was true animal lover, especially her pet poodle, Pepe.
Mary is survived by sister, Dorothy (Evanko) Hrabosky of West Mifflin; nieces and nephew and great nieces and great nephews. She was also preceded in death by brother, John Evanko, Sr. and nephew, John Evanko, Jr.

Anthony Charles Lekse,  81, of Elizabeth Township, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 31, 2020. He was born October 15, 1939 in Russellton and was the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Metal) Lekse.
