Todd F. DiPerna, age 59 of North Huntingdon, passed away on January 3, 2025. He was born on August 21, 1965 in McKeesport, a son of Susan Sharp and the late Frank DiPerna. Todd was a member of St. Agnes Church and a graduate of Brashear High School in the class of 1983. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a salesman at White Diamond. Todd was an all-around athlete and he loved sports. He collected antiques and always looked forward to spending time at the local flea market. He enjoyed his morning coffee at Sheetz, and he was easily recognized by his beloved lime-green Dodge Ram pickup truck. Most of all, Todd was known as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. In addition to his mother, Todd is survived by his wife Maria, his stepfather Robert Sharp, his two step-children Rebecca and Matteos, one brother Kurt DiPerna (and his wife Teri), his nephew Cameron, his aunt Elaine DiPerna, and his cousins from the Sollisi family. Friends and relatives will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, on Sunday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday at 10 AM in St. Agnes Church. Interment will follow at a later date to be announced. Marlene Rae Durant, 93, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Friday, January 3, 2025. She was born July 25, 1931 in Braddock and was the daughter of the late  William and Hannah (McKnight) Buehner. She was the wife of the late Louis Durant who passed away June 22, 2016. They were married for 64 years. She was a member of Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Boston United Methodist Church for 55 years. Marlene was a Personnel Manager for the former Gimbels in South Hills Village and the former Eastland Mall and was previously a Switchboard Operator for the former Bell Telephone Company. She always had her hair styled and was always well dressed. She was an avid bowler and loved going to her home in Deep Creek, MD. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother.

Born April 21, 1944 in Braddock, she was a daughter of the late Gary and Gizella (Polahar) Matej and wife of the late Edwin F. Yates. She is survived by her son, Neil R. Yates of Liberty Borough; granddaughter, Jillian Yates of Elizabeth Twp., and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gary Matej. Doris J. Callaghan, age 96 of North Huntingdon, passed away on January 2, 2025. She was born on October 27, 1928 in Glassport, a daughter of the late Charles Morgan and Bess Hudson Morgan. Prior to her retirement, Doris was employed as a case worker by the Westmoreland County Welfare Office. In her free time, Doris was an avid reader, and she always looked forward to playing card games and scrabble with her friends. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by one son, Mark Callaghan, one son-in-law Carl Bytnar and two brothers, Charles Morgan and Robert Morgan. She is survived by one son, Rodger Callaghan (predeceased by Darlene Slovan), one daughter Linda Bytnar, five grandchildren Jennifer Green (Matt), Andrea Kurzdorfer (James), Brian Bytnar, Mindy O'Malley (Perry), and Matt Callaghan, ten great-grandchildren Claire, Madelyn, Logan, C.J., Coraline, Nolan, Sam, Zack, Kaitlin, and Max, and numerous nieces and nephews. Elmer William Boyle, 70, of White Oak, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024. Elmer was born September 8, 1954 in Pittsburgh and was the son of the late Francis X. and Thelma M. (Dolloff) Boyle. Elmer obtained a marketing degree from Robert Morris University. His professional background encompassed commercial sales, small business ownership, and later, property management. Roberta L. "Candy" Hutchinson, age 82, of White Oak, formerly of McKeesport, died January 1, 2025, at UPMC McKeesport Hospital. May 4, 1942, in Dayton, OH, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Barbara (Velardo) Pierce.  Roberta dedicated many years of her life to serving others as a Nursing Assistant at the VA Hospital, where her compassion and dedication touched the lives of countless veterans and families.  She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was engaging in spirited games of bingo or relishing the great outdoors during camping trips with her children. Her favorite trips were often spent exploring the beauty of Lake Erie and admiring the iconic lighthouse at Port Clinton, Ohio, creating cherished memories that her family will hold dear.  Roberta's faith was an integral part of her existence; she made it a daily ritual to read her Bible, drawing strength and inspiration from its teachings. Her unwavering belief nourished her spirit and offered solace to those around her.

Eugene A. McKeown Jr. 94, formerly of North Huntingdon died on December 31, 2024 at his home in Greensburg. He was born on December 23, 1930 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Eugene A. and Anna McCoy McKeown. He is survived by his wife Frances Kasparek Hohn, his children David, William (Laura) and Wayne (Rita)McKeown and Joy (Tom) Stascak, grandchildren, Anne and Michael McKeown. Survivors also include Fran's children, Greg ,Mark (Trang), Eric and Lisa Hohn (Chris Kasselas). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Marjorie L. James, his two brothers, John (Jack) McKeown and Eugene (Jerry) Kurtz, his daughter-in-law, Kathleen McKeown and his granddaughter, Dana McKeown. Gene was a 1948 graduate of Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School. He was a veteran of the US Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 256 of Pitcarin. He retired from Bell Atlantic and Verizon after 40 years of service and was a lifetime member of Circleville Volunteer Fire Department for over 60 years where he held the positions at different times of president, secretary treasurer and financial secretary. He was a member of Our lady of Grace Catholic Church in Greensburg. He played baseball for the US Air Force and semi pro baseball for San Bernadino. In his 50's, 60's and 70's he played senior softball locally for Murrysville and Penn Hills Teams. Additionally, he played on the travel team for Penn Hills. He also played for traveling teams from Maryland, Kentucky, and Michigan, some of which went on to win multiple Eastern US Championships as well as the International Championship in 2005. In his later years, he continued playing Senior Softball for the Penn Hills League until age 88 when he switched to help manage a team in that league. Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon on Monday from 3-7 P.M. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday at 10 A.M. at Our lady of Grace in Greensburg. Dennis L. Dominick, 73, of White Oak, passed away on Tuesday December 31, 2024. He was born on May 18, 1951 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Louis and Sally (Reveres) Dominick. Dennis was a proud United States Air Force Veteran serving during the time of the Vietnam War. He worked for US Steel as a security guard for 15 years and later was a painter, a job he enjoyed. He was also a member of the American Legion and the 11th Ward Club. He loved oldie music and all Pittsburgh sports. Most of all he loved his family and was especially proud of his son.

Born to George and Louise (Barchie) Simco of Port Vue, PA., David was a Vietnam-era Veteran who served honorably in the U.S. Navy. He was employed at Westinghouse Transportation Center and later sold industrial valves and piping systems to steel mills and factories throughout the tri-state area. Margaret E. (LaCivita) Ratesic, 93, of East McKeesport, passed away peacefully on Saturday December 28, 2024. She was born October 7, 1931 in East McKeesport, the youngest daughter and last surviving child of the late John and Valverdina (Lucarelli) LaCivita and was also preceded in death by her husband George “Tucky” Ratesic; brothers Pete LaCivita, Lou LaCivita, Anthony LaCivita, and Michael LaCivita; and sisters Lucille Lokay, Mary Greselin, and Josephine Brush.

She was a graduate of Westinghouse Memorial High School, a member of Mary Mother of God Parish, St. Robert Bellarmine Church, and worked for 22 years at North Versailles Bowling Center in the snack bar, where she was known as Aunt Marge. Margaret loved to cook, and enjoyed planting flowers every spring which she referred to as “playing in the dirt”. She is survived by her children Georgeann (Bill) Kirk of White Oak, and Mark (Sue) Ratesic also of White Oak; grandchildren Juliann Kirk, Kelly (Tom) McCloskey, Randy (Sara) Benson, and Katie (Greg) Casile; great grandchildren Tommy McCloskey, Jakob McCloskey, Mya McCloskey, Valent Casile, Rocco Casile, Everett Benson, and Vaughn Benson; also many nieces and nephews.

John "Bob" Gallik, age 72 of North Huntingdon, passed away on December 31, 2024 at his home. He was born on June 30, 1952 in Monessen, a son of the late John Gallik and Marie Margitan Gallik. Bob was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Irwin and a graduate of Penn State University. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Westinghouse as an engineer with nearly 40 years of experience. Bob cherished his role as a girl-dad and he was also an amazing uncle. He took pride in his activities as a handyman and was always looking for a new project around the house. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by one sister Doris Kukler. Charles Earl Fitzgerald III  was born to Charles Earl Fitzgerald Jr and Lydia Daniels on October 11, 1962. He departed this earthly life on Saturday, December 28, 2024.

Charles graduated from Falcon High School (now Woodland Hills High School) where he wrestled and boxed. He attended California University of Pennsylvania with an academic and athletic scholarship. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering. He loved his family wholeheartedly. He stood ten toes down for what was right. His sense of humor was the true definition of dad jokes. He had a gift of song that was like no other.

Charles was preceded in death by his Father Charles Earl Fitzgerald Jr, uncle Benjamin Bryant, and brother Danzell Smith.

Esther cherished her role as a wife and she loved to spend time with her family. Esther was known as a joke-teller and she always enjoyed a good laugh with her friends. In her free time, she enjoyed card games and dining out. Esther loved to travel, especially to Virginia Beach. In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Giron, and her brother Dominic Grainy and his wife Florence. In her free time she loved reading, sewing, knitting, crafting, gardening, and crocheting.
