Marian Sue (Susie) Allen, of Murrysville, was a victim of the 2020 pandemic, as were so many others, sadly taken Wednesday, December 9th. Born in Pittsburgh on October 12, 1952, to Robert Morris Sr. and Reba (Sines) Allen.

Marian lived in the care of Mon Yough Community Services for most of 40 years.  Due to health issues, she has been under the care of Murrysville Rehabilitation and Wellness Center (RWC) for the last two.

Grace E. (Elesie) Slavick, age 80, of Forward Twp., passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Monongahela Valley Hospital. She was a retired food service manager for K-Mart in Pleasant Hills, a member of St. Issac Jogues Church in Elrama and a member of the National Slovak Society.

Born February 21, 1940 in Monongahela, she was a daughter of the late William and Laura (Vigliotti) Elesie.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert A. Slavick; daughter, Karen (Kevin Bleil) Slavick of Elizabeth Twp.; son, Ronald (Cindi Patterson) Slavick of Elizabeth Twp.; granddaughter, Julie (Phil) Wallace of Diamond, OH; four great-grandchildren; sister, Cheryl DeSantis of Tarpon Springs, FL; also, nieces and nephews.

Lauren Kane, a wonderful daughter, sister, cousin, and friend, was called home on December 10, 2020.  

Born on June 6, 1985, Lauren was born an angel, and left the same way. Diagnosed with Larsen's Syndrome and enduring countless surgeries throughout childhood, Lauren had a continuous smile and inspired all who knew her. Most affectionately known as Aunt Loca, she was dedicated to the support and development of all the children that came into her life. Lauren was the second mom to all the kids in her family.

He was born February 10, 1951 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Robert and Colleen (Ulm) Elm. John worked for Fayette Heating and AC, and the former Parkway Plumbing and Heating. He was a US Marine Veteran and served honorably in the Vietnam War. For his service he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Star, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal w/device.

Darrell Joseph Dole

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Darrell Joseph Dole, 83, of North Huntingdon.  He died Friday, December 11, 2020, surrounded by his living family.  Darrell was born on September 16, 1937, the son of the late J. Douglass and Doris Dole.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Ann (Soltis) Dole; his three children, Kristine R. Dole-Mong and her husband, Jason, Danielle A. Baker and her husband, Paul and Matthew D. Dole and his wife, Ashley; beloved grandchildren, Caleb J. and Emma G. Dole and Emily (Nathan) Everly and Raymond Baker; as well as four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law and many wonderful nieces and nephews.  Darrell was born in New York and grew up in the Mount Lebanon area of Pittsburgh.  He graduated from Mount Lebanon High School and attended Washington and Jefferson College prior to enlisting in the US Air Force.

Darrell's career started at Bell Telephone of Pa. and spanned thru AT&T, Lucent Technologies as a data communication until his early retirement.  Then began consulting work with Hyperion and with Dante Corp. which sent him on projects throughout the US,  giving him an opportunity to see more of his beautiful homeland, the good old U.S. of A.

Darrel loved to listen to music and collected pieces from classical and oldies and much in between, his longtime favorites being Willie Nelson and John Denver.  He so enjoyed the outdoors from fly fishing the Snake River in Idaho to trap shooting at the Trafford Gun Club, and to his favorite downhill skiing.  He taught  his children how to ski and enjoy the outdoors as a family.  He was his children’s biggest fan from assisting swimming, coach and volunteering on the soccer, baseball fields and basketball courts to camping with Indian Princess Programs.  Darrell enjoyed and looked forward to “hamburger nights” at the Elks and dinner at the Ride & Hunt Club for late night drinks with dear friends.  He was a member of PISA for 40 years enjoying being a part-time ski instructor at Seven Spring Ski Resort, where he met his Ann and where they made many wonderful memories with their three children.  Services will be private and a memorial will be held at a later date.  Arrangements made by the James W. Paul A. Wargo, age 72, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Duquesne, passed away on December 11, 2020 at UPMC Shadyside. Born in Pittsburgh on January 13, 1948, he was the son of the late Paul A. and Ethel (Koncz) Wargo Sr. A 1965 graduate of Duquesne High School, he was a retired boilermaker from Union #154 and a member of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Pittsburgh where he served on church council. He enjoyed motorcycles, was a music aficionado, was a competitive boxer, an artist, raised dogs and was dedicated to his family. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Wargo of Pittsburgh; nephew John Paul Wargo; niece Ava Wargo; friend Ray Gunn of Ft. Meyers, FL; cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his brother John (Amy Smith) Wargo of Ross Twp. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-12 noon on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 915 KENNDY AVE., DUQUESNE, 15110, 412-466-3300, WILLIAM B. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Barbara Lee (Abels) Minteer on Monday, December 7, 2020. She will have no more suffering from breast cancer which she valiantly fought. She was born July 23, 1939 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late John and Gladys (Schreiner) Abels. She grew up in Dravosburg and after marriage and having her children they moved to Industry in Elizabeth Township. It is here where she lived for over 50 years and created many lasting friendships. She loved sitting on her front porch and saying hello to the passersby. She enjoyed evenings on her porch entertaining neighbors and loved ones. Never learning how to drive, Barb was never one to turn down an offer to go out to eat, play cards or go to Bingo. If the wheels were turning, she was going! She was a member of the Buena Vista V.F.D Ladies Auxiliary and also worked the voting polls on Election Days.

(Tomas) Spudic. Barbara was a retired clerical worker for the Croatian Fraternal Union for 40 years, a member of St. Joseph Church, Verona, longtime member of the former Sacred Heart Parish, McKeesport and a 1973 graduate of Serra High School. She loved the outdoors, walking, yoga & the Tamburitzans. She was the beloved wife of Michael Opat for 46 years; mother of Susan (Jeff) Ezykowsky Sr. of West Mifflin and Nicole (Michael) Zalac of Harrison City; “Mimi” to her two grandchildren Jeffrey Ezykowsky Jr. and Brooks Zalac; sister of John Spudic of North Huntingdon and Walter (Valerie) Spudic of Pine Richland; and aunt of Charley & Eddy Spudic. There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Church, Duquesne, on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Conway officiating. Karen Lee Polakovic, 63, formerly of West Mifflin, passed peacefully on December 9, 2020, in her sleep, from this world to the next. She was the daughter of the late Irene (Matola) and Stephen Francis Polakovic, both of whom she lovingly cared for in their home at the end of their lives. She was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with a degree in Special Education. She made a positive impact on the many children with special needs that she taught throughout her long teaching career.  She also was a massage therapist and instructor. She loved to play the french horn and to sing alto. She was a terrific dancer. She enjoyed reading Nancy Drew books, playing scrabble and taking long walks. She adored her family, especially the children. She is survived by her sisters, Stephanie (Edward) Glazar, Laura (Derek) McNeill, Melissa (Domenic) D’Andrea, brother Mark (Bethanne) Polakovic; many nieces, Sarah, Renee, Allison, Celeste, Mallory and Liliana D’Andrea; nephews, Spencer and Trevor; great nephews, Zach Glazar and Elijah; one great niece, Audrey and many, many, many cousins. Vichnaya Pamyat!  Memorial mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gregory Nazianzen Roman Catholic Church, Zelienople, 16063. Denise Hilliary, 62, died suddenly Dec. 4, 2020 at AHN Jefferson Hospital.

Denise was affectionally known as “Niecy” to her closest friends and family. She was born in McKeesport, Pa but was raised and continued to call Clairton, Pa home until she departed. Denise was educated in the Clairton education system, graduating from Clairton HS in 1975 and capped her education by graduating from the ICM School of business shortly after. Denise spent the past 43 years working for Bank of NY Mellon as an Infrastructure Operations Analyst where she was a linchpin for the team.

Denise was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She treasured her children and embraced them and everyone she held close with the love and affection that they required. She is survived by her two daughters, J’Nece (Grady) Nixon, Cierra Hilliary; Two sons, Larry (Crystina) Ferguson, Emmanuel Cottrell; 6 Grandchildren (Trentin, TaNyia, Taj, Tijair, Lexington & Lennox. Sister to Jannice, Jeffery and Jamie, as well as an Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
