Walter Robert Frederick, Jr., age 65 of McKeesport, died Friday, August 30, 2019. He was born in McKeesport on September 28, 1953 and is the son of the late Walter Robert and Anna Mae Freund Frederick. Walter was a former member of the Eleventh Ward Club and a member of the McKeesport PNA Lodge #352. One of his favorite past times was watching all of the Pittsburgh sports teams.

He is survived by his brothers, William “Toots” (Lon Jean Krivda) Frederick of McKeesport and Charles Frederick of McKeesport. He is also survived by stepchildren, Lisa (Marty) Odenthal of McKeesport and Rick Dyga of West Mifflin, step great grandchildren, Zachery, Harley and Katie Odenthal and Jaiden and Wyatt Dyga, nephews, Chuckie and Billy Frederick, Zachary and Nathan Krivda, and niece, Natalie Gregg, also great nephew, Kameron and great niece, Kendahl. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Dyga.

Gloria E. Murtha, age 93 of West Mifflin, died Thursday, August 29, 2019. She was born in Mount Clare, PA on November 4, 1925, the daughter of the late Norman G. and Leona B. Miller Schankel. Gloria enjoyed knitting, crocheting, word puzzles, bowling, and in her youth, she was an outstanding swimmer and diver. She loved to color so much that she started a coloring club at Locust Grove Personal Care. Gloria was a member of the USO and was also a World War II Coast Watcher. She was a Eucharistic Minister, taught CCD, and was a premarital counselor.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, John F. Murtha, age 98; sons, John M. (Mary Ann) Murtha of Chambersburg, PA, Richard J. (Pamela) Murtha of Evans, GA, Mark D. (Katherine) Murtha of Clinton, PA, David T. (Debbie) Murtha of Avon, NY, and Kenneth L. (Debbie) Murtha of Worcester, PA; daughter, Eileen L. Murtha of West Mifflin; grandchildren, Bethany R. Murtha, Evan M. Murtha, Kelley A. Murtha, Allison L. Murtha, Bradley A. (Jamie) Murtha, Jeffrey K. (Tara) Murtha, Matthew C. (Maddy) Murtha; great grandchild, Carson K. Murtha. Thomas S. Manns age 86, of West Mifflin, passed away on August 28, 2019 at home.  Son of the late Joseph H. & Veronica (Denne) Manns, he was the last owner of Manns Bros. Grocery in Duquesne from 1978-1995.  He was a member of Holy Angels Church in Hays and their  Social Committee.  He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War.  He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Esther B. (Kozar) Manns; father of Thomas G. (Jennifer) Manns of West Mifflin and Matthew S. Manns of West Mifflin; Grandfather of Rebecca, Bethany & Stella Manns.  He was predeceased by brothers & sisters Lawrence (late Ann) Manns, Norbert (late Martha) Manns, Regis (late Ann) Manns, Joseph (late Emma) Manns, Howard (Late Mary Ann) Manns, Mildred Manns, Gertrude (Late Bert) Kovalsky, Susan (Late Charles “Jake”) Barnes.  Visitation will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019 from 2-4 & 6-8 at the Maloy-Schleifer Funeral Home, Inc., 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, 412-466-3300.  Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at Holy Angels Church on Saturday, August 31, 2019 followed by the presentation of Military Honors.  Burial will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

William (Bill) V. Angeloff, 87, of Elizabeth Township, died Tuesday, August 27, 2019 in Jefferson Hospital after a short illness.  He was born November 18, 1931 in Pittsburgh, and was the son of the late Velico and Rusa (Athanasova) Angeloff, who emmigrated from Bulgaria. Dad graduated from Carrick High School in 1949 and then attended the University of Pittsburgh, Class of 1958, and was a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity.  Bill served in the Army during the Korean War (1952-1954).  Prior to retirement, he was employed by the Internal Revenue Service; earlier employment was with Union National Bank, Three Rivers Bank and the Beaver Trust Company.  He was a long-time member of St. Denis and St. Patrick Catholic Churches, Elizabeth Township Ex Servicemen’s Association and Elizabeth Township Senior Citizens group.

Donald James Henry, Born December 14, 1932, passed away August 27, 2019 with his daughter Luette and son-in-law Bobby by his side. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years Donna Mae (Baker) Henry; parent's John and Margaret Henry, brother's Wilfred (Billy), John, Ralph, Robert, and Philip Henry.
He is survived by his daughter, Luette (Bobby) Sharpe, son, Donald (Connie) Henry, daughter, Amy (Lori Ruffner) Henry; granddaughter, Sara (Zachary Van Allen) Henry, grandson, Joshua (Sarah) Henry; granddaughter, Jamie Henry; great grandson, Wyatt Henry; and his sister's, Maureen and Patricia Henry. Don worked at Roy C. Price Ironworks that became Wheaton and Sons for 55 years. He was an avid gardener and card player. His vegetables were the highlight of summer for many family friends and strangers. Don was the mayor of SWHYKGT for 43 years. He was the oldest living member of The Italian Brotherhood of Guffey Club and a member of the Italian Miners Society. Don loved football. He played for the McKeesport Tigers and was honored by the school for his time playing. He loved Friday night football games at Norwin and McKeesport. He made an impact on everyone he loved and met along the years. He will be truly missed. By the way, as Don said, "Glad I saw ya."
Friends will be received from 1 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the James W. Shirley Funeral home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon. A funeral service will take place on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Wesley United Methodist church in White Oak. PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH. Mary Lou "M.L." Reed age 95 of North Huntingdon was relieved of her pain when she got the call to pass through the gates of heaven on   August 27, 2019 while residing at the Grove of Irwin. She was born March 13, 1924 in Luxor a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Urchick. Prior to her retirement, Mary Lou was  formerly employed by Westinghouse Electric where she met her husband. She was the manager of three soup and sandwich shops and later employed by Jeannette Glass.  Mary Lou was a woman of many talents.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald. She is survived by five daughters, Marilyn Yates, Cathy Reed, Beverly Kuhn (Robert), Deborah Green (Earnest) , Ronna Vojnovich (Dorian) two brothers, Paul Urchick (Becky), Mike Urchick (Barb), two sisters, Martha Shimshock, Rose Kepich, 9 grandchildren, Autumn Gaucin (Aaron), Marla Watt (Ryan), Morgan Yates (Chris Wharton), Khrystian Bedard (Raymond), Nakita Vojnovich, Lindsey and Jesse Kuhn, Ian Green (Ariunaa), Natasha Vojonovich, 9 great-grandchildren. Paul Ernest Hollenbeck, 91, passed away at his home in Knoxville, Tenn., July 29, 2019. He was born in McKeesport in 1927, the son of Elizabeth (Parton) and William Martin Hollenbeck.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a graduate of Robert Morris College, member of the Masonic Fraternity, and the American Legion. His career was spent as a buyer with Westinghouse Electric in McKeesport and later as a manager of quality control with Martin Marietta in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

He leaves his wife of 72 years, Jean Isabel (Haidle) Hollenbeck and daughters Cathy Wieland of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Cynthia O'Hara of Madison, Ala., and Paula Kraemer from Daniel Island, S.C. He will be missed by 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were private. Inurnment was at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, Knoxville, Tenn. Services in charge of Cremation Options Inc. of Knoxville, Tenn.

She was a retired 6th grade Math Teacher at the Elizabeth Forward Middle School and was beloved by many students and their families.  "Ruthie" loved children and was dedicated to growing their minds academically, and their faith through leading Vacation Bible School and youth group at church.

Mary Soltis, 97, of North Huntingdon, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2019.  She was born June 13, 1922 in Skrabske, Czechoslovakia, daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Halkova) Kacvinsky.  Mary was a member of St. Stephen Byzantine Catholic Church where she was past president of the women's club and was involved with the fundraising for the church.  She embraced her Slovak heritage and was a member of the GCU and enjoyed cooking delicious  traditional Slovak dishes and desserts for her family and friends.  She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all those lives she touched with her gentleness, love and devotion.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nicholas Soltis; and beloved sons, John and Paul Soltis.  She is survived by her daughters, Mary Bezick and her husband, James, Ann Dole and her husband, Darrell;  son, Michael Soltis and his wife, Terri; grandchildren, Denine (Eddie) Clouse, Denise Bezick-Hume, Kristine (Jason) Mong, Danielle (Paul) Baker, Summer Soltis, Matthew (Ashley) Dole and Lindsay Soltis and her fiance, Dan Moore; great-grandchildren, Sara (Evelyn) Clouse, Nicholas, Jordan Clouse, Elizabeth and Wyatt Hume, Emily and Raymond Baker, Ethan McCoy,  Emma and Caleb Dole; and numerous nieces and nephews in Slovakia.  Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the James W.
