Irene E. Ashton, 94, of McKeesport, died Monday, August 17, 2020 at Jefferson Hospital. Born in McKeesport, February 9, 1926, daughter of the late Charles L. and Edna M. Spear Henderson, wife of the late Robert F. Ashton, sister of the late William C. Henderson, she is survived by her son and daughter in law, Robert F. (Pam) Ashton of Elizabeth Township, PA. A lifetime member of the First Christian Church and the West Penn Hospital Nurse’s Alumni, she was a retired registered nurse. She was a graduate of McKeesport High School and the West Penn Hospital School of Nursing. Friends will be received in the Hunter Funeral Home, Inc., 1600 Coursin Street, McKeesport, PA 15132 on Thursday, August 20, 2020 from 4-8 PM. A graveside service will be held Friday, August 21, 2020 at 11:00 AM in Round Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Dave Shively officiating.

Daniel V. DeCecco, age 69, of Duquesne, died August 16, 2020, at UPMC Mercy Hospital. Born February 13, 1951, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late George and Rose (Kolich) DeCecco and beloved husband of Laura (Jackson) DeCecco for 48 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Denise DeCecco; grandchildren, James Booth, Roseanna Booth and Charlayne DeCecco and brother, Paul DeCecco. He was preceded in death by brother, George DeCecco and sister, Olivia DeCecco. Arrangements were entrusted to Willig Funeral Home & Crematory. Rylan Joseph Gallagher, 8 months old, passed away on August 15, 2020 at 10:17 p.m. in Children's Hospital, Pittsburgh. Rylan was a very loving happy child and brought joy to many who loved him and he will be immensely missed. Rylan was preceded in death by his sister, Amyrah Gallagher; and aunt, Pamela Sue White. Daniel M. DiMucci, Jr., age 90 of McKeesport, passed away in his daughters home in Alabama. Born August 17, 1930 in Hostetter, PA, he was a son of the late Donato and Ida (DiSciascio) DiMucci. A 1952 graduate of Clemson University, where he earned All-ACC honors as a guard on the Tigers football team, Daniel retired as a retired history teacher and football coach for the Plum School District. He was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish (St. Patrick's Church), a lifelong member of the Italian Sons and Daughters, and a founder of the "Duke and Ding" Scholarship Fund at McKeesport High School. He was also active in organizing Christy Park Reunions and caring for the Christy Park Veterans' Memorial. Daniel is survived by his wife of 62 years Virginia (Rohac) DiMucci; his children Nancy (Frank) Roig of Anniston, AL and Daniel (Paula) DiMucci, III of Port Vue; his grandchildren Natalie McKnight, Tori Argus, Bridgette Jepson, and Donato DiMucci; his great-granddaughter Lucy McKnight; his sister Gloria Tackas of Port Vue; and also nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his siblings Connie DiBatista, Rose Begandy, and Joe and Dom DiMucci.

James C. Shumaker, age 78 of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2020 in Jefferson Hospital. Born January 2, 1942 in South Park, he was a son of the late Ira and Rita (Collins) Shumaker. As a young man, James earned a football scholarship to VMI and earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, then served 15 years in the US Marine Corps doing four tours of duty in Vietnam and attaining the rank of Captain until he was injured in duty. After returning to the United States, James took a job as a supervising plant manager for Fleetwood in Riverside, CA, handling Fleetwood's plants in fifteen states and Canada. Upon returning to this area, he served as a supervising manager for Greenman Peterson Construction and retired from Johnson Mirmiran & Thompson where he supervised infrastructure projects such as bridges in the area and Routes 43 and 376. James also was a self employed home inspector. He is survived by his wife of 27 years Carolyn (Cerqua) Shumaker, his daughters Kelli Hill of Cayucos, CA and Kristen (Michael) Nehus of Wylie, TX, his granddaughter Hannah Hill of San Diego, CA, his brothers Ira and William Shumaker, and also nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by his son James C. Shumaker, Jr. and sister Patricia Shumaker Kling.

Kenneth A. Shipes, 71, of Claridge, passed away Monday, August 17, 2020 in Family
Hospice at Canterbury Place, Pittsburgh. He was born December 26, 1948 in Jamestown,
New York, son of the late Pauline Dietrick Shipes. Prior to his retirement, Kenneth
worked as a subcontractor for Westinghouse Nuclear but was better known as a
proprietor of restaurants and lounges including the SenSim in Norwin Towne Square.
Ken was a classic car enthusiast, Harley Davidson rider and an avid Pittsburgh sports fan.
He is survived by his wife, Laurel Humbert; daughters, Paula (Scott) Ohler, Karen
(Adam) Dimeo; brother, Joseph (Gloria) Smith; grandchildren, C.J. (Leighanne)

James D. Welsh, 90, of East McKeesport, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2020. He was born June 26, 1930 in East McKeesport, a son of the late B.F. “Hank” and Nell (Mackey) Welsh. He was a member of Linway United Presbyterian Church, North Versailles where he served as a Deacon and an Elder, also working many years with the Meals on Wheels program.
Jim was an Army veteran that served during the Korean War, stationed in Manilla, Philippines, a retired machinist for U.S. Steel Research Center, Monroeville, a member of Hilltopers VFW Post 8430, and the American Legion, East McKeesport. He was an avid sports fan that loved the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins. Jim loved to golf and bowl and once bowled a perfect 300 game in the U.S. Steel Bowling League.

Jack Lloyd Ellenberger, age 72, of North Versailles died on August 13, 2020, the result of a traumatic brain injury. He received two Purple Hearts, while serving in the U.S. Army, as a Vietnam combat infantry soldier. Born February 6, 1948, the older son of the late Harry J. and Bernadine (Stalowski) Ellenberger.
He is survived by his loving “college babe” and wife of 52 years, Sharon (Wolden). He raised and is survived by three wonderful children, Kristin (Dr. Jim) Richards, Jocelyn (Jeff) Bell, and Jack (Michelle) Ellenberger. Jack is survived by and so very proud of his eight grandchildren: Coleman and Caroline Richards; Jennings, Greyson and Charlotte Bell; and Alexi, Leo and Julian Ellenberger.
He’s also survived by his most caring and loving step-father, Ted (Pap Z) Zarichansky, his sister Donna Lee (Louie) Paulisick, brother Darryl “D.J.” Ellenberger, brother-in-law Tom (Linda) Wolden, sister-in-law Sue (Ray) Pecoraro, his Aunt Esther (Joe) DeLeo, six nieces, nine nephews, grand nephews, grand nieces, tons of cousins, and wonderful friends and neighbors.

Until he retired, he was a machinist for various industrial plants in the Greensburg area. Bob loved being with his heartbroken soulmate (his rock) Carolyn. He is a huge sports fan and loved watching the Penguins, Steelers, and Nascar. He loved playing video games, but his favorite thing to do was "pick-n" off those pesky groundhogs who dared to trespass on his property. Bob has the biggest heart in the world.
